Lots of changes and updates are headed to an Auction House near ye!
AH Buying and browsing
- Browse stays up to date. It checks again every 30 seconds while ye watch, and as soon as ye come back to the tab. Only what changed is redrawn, and ye keep yer place in the list.
- New filters on Browse: a price range, how soon an offer may end, and named or unnamed pets and familiars. Recent searches remember them, and the list ends with "Clear recent searches".
- A Kind menu for Pets, Familiars and Deeds. Choose one kind of pet or familiar, or a class of ship. A class takes in her limited editions, so Sloop includes Roister Class sloops.
- Find matches colours too, word by word, so "red swords" finds red Gold crossed swords.
- The colour menus offer only the colours the chosen category comes in.
- Sell offers and buy offers can be shown together, and a buy offer can be promoted onto the front page like a sell offer. An offer can be promoted again from My Offers once its promotion runs out.
- Each offer says what kind of thing it is, filed as in Booty, and where a piece of furniture goes: "Furniture › Misc, for a wall", "Trinkets › Gold Box".
- Hovering over an offer's picture or name shows the item's tooltip, as in Booty.
- Pets and familiars are titled by kind, colours and whether they're named, as "Big Cat (gold, tiger, brown) (named)", with the name on its own line. A search for "big cat", "named" or "unnamed" finds them. Their colours are named once, in the title.
- Mystery boxes are named by edition, such as the September 2026 Chocolate Box, rather than all reading "Mystery box".
- A new item's condition shows in green, in its tooltip too.
- New sell offers show at once, but Buy now stays greyed out for their first 30 seconds, so nobody can snap one up the moment it's posted.
- Sorting by price compares the price of each thing in a stack, and recent sales of a stack say how many were in it and what each came to.
AH Price history
- Every offer has a Price history button, and it can also be opened from the Sell tab for the item in the slot. It shows what that kind of item has sold for over the past year, and the offers for it that ended unsold.
- Each sale is lined up in columns: price, date and colours, beside a picture of the item. Each row says whether the item was bought from a sell offer or sold to a buy offer (and what that buy offer asked for), and gives its condition and its name or inscription.
- Each of the item's colours has a tick box. Clear one to take any colour there, as for lion-and-lion big cats in any third colour.
- The middle price of each month's sales is shown, and Copy puts the rows on the clipboard to paste into a spreadsheet.
- The front page shows each recent sale by kind, with its picture, category and name or inscription, and can show older sales too.
Buy offers
- Buy offers can ask for a named or an unnamed pet or familiar, and for a least condition: used or better, or new only. The choices say where their lines fall for the kind sought: "Used or better (35% or more)", or for clothing "Used or better (at least 21 login days left)". Framed portraits, which never wear, offer no condition.
- What a buy offer seeks is drawn in the colours asked for, on the WANTED cards and on the Buy Offers form: pets, familiars, clothing, furniture, swords, bludgeons and mugs. A pet sought in any colour shows its usual colours.
- Kinds of clothing read properly, as "Captain's bandana hat (female)".
- Buy Offers finds the kinds other pirates are offering or seeking, such as rogue marks, a moment after ye type.
- "Sell to this offer" is greyed out when ye have nothing that matches, and lights up as soon as ye do.
- When selling into a buy offer, identical items share one row, with how many ye have, and the most worn of them is the one sold.
AH Selling and slots
- Slots are shared between all the pirates on an account, and My Offers shows yer other pirates' offers and what they sold lately. "Buy a slot" and My Offers say how many slots an account may hold.
- A big price (100,000 PoE or more), or one far from the suggested price, must be typed a second time, and confirmations spell the price out in words. A stack's suggested price is worked out for each thing in it.
- Asking too little tells ye the lowest price ye can ask, and asking too much the highest.
- A ship whose hold isn't empty can't be listed, and the message says what's still aboard: "Still aboard: Bid ticket (3), Cannon balls (12), 250 PoE".
- The listing note says only that clothing doesn't age while listed. Familiars, which never age, get no note.
- Switching the sun panel away from Booty lets go of the item in the Sell slot, as the trading post does.
- Sale and purchase messages in chat show the coin icon.
AH Fixes and wording
- When the house refuses something, it says so on a red band with a blinking "!", names the item or offer it means, and clears the message once it's stale. "That offer is no longer available" now says someone may have taken it first, or it was withdrawn.
- Posting an offer over a slow connection no longer reports the item missing from yer booty.
- Long names, such as a sealed deed's, wrap, and Browse fits small windows without sideways scrolling.
- German, Spanish and Japanese clients show the house in English wherever they have no translation, rather than raw message names.
- When the house is switched off it is closed completely, unless staff open it for withdrawals during a long shutdown.
- Wording: the sort menu says "Highest price first", Browse's second menu says "Buy offers", like the tab, and offers say "Offer ends in 30 days".
The Purser's Tally
- Pete no longer interrupts play. A tally comes only where ye would be stopped anyway:
- as a break begins, while the crew are still at their stations
- once ships have engaged, before the first turn is called
- before a crew goes ashore on an expedition
- before a fray is joined
- He will not drop in partway through a turn, and no longer calls at the end of a kraken hunt.
- When he takes a break, the break waits on him, duty report and all, so answering costs ye none of yer rest.
- He calls on a ship less often, leaving a crew longer between tallies.
Login pages
- Pirate creation: the form no longer runs off the bottom of the frame. In a short window the whole page scrolls rather than the form being squeezed to fit.
- Ocean selection: the list starts just clear of the logo, so more oceans fit in the frame.
- Pirate selection: long status messages and the Steam achievements note stay inside the frame. The status wraps beneath yer pirates, and the achievements note sits as small print below everything.
Navigation
- The number keys jump straight to a ring: 1 for the innermost, then 2 and 3 working outwards. They can be changed in the "Puzzle keys" options tab like the others.
Other changes
- Spectator chat at a blockade is now
/spectate (or /sp), so /sh is a shout again.
- Blue grey chromas all stack together however ye came by them, and are named "blue grey".
- On the Booty tab, the rows for yer equipped item and the world map use the panel's full width, so long names show in full when ye widen it.
- Following a gallery notice on the notice board to a gallery ye've been planked from no longer strands ye between scenes. Ye stay where ye are and are told why.
- Where the sea is recoloured, only the water is tinted, not the scenery around it.
- Skeletal pirates can wear their familiars.
- Booty search finds colours that aren't part of an item's name.
- Pirate pages on the website show a familiar's colours on mouseover.
