The following types of trinkets, which pirates typically hold in large numbers, will be regarded as "collector" trinkets:
- Skulls, sand-dollars, zombie hands, werewolf tufts, vampire fangs
- Sea Monster trinkets
- Expedition trinkets
Trading in those types of trinkets at the trading post will contribute towards 3 new trophies:
- "A Collector o' Note" - 100 trinkets traded in
- "An Avid Collector" - 2500 trinkets traded in
- "Magnus Congregor" - 25,000 trinkets traded in
Players will be able to trade in their stockpiled "collector" trinkets (as described above) in exchange for 3 new Collector medals in the Trading post:
- Bronze Collector: requires 100 "collector" trinkets
- Silver Collector: requires 25 Bronze Collector medals
- Gold Collector: requires 10 Silver Collector medals
The motivation for these medals is to allow players a more convenient way to clean out their excess trinkets, while still acknowledging the efforts that were taken to amass such large trinket collections.
Players with excessively large numbers of items in their inventory will begin receiving warnings at various stages:
- 8,000+ items: A warning message will be displayed notifying the player that their inventory is becoming excessively large
- 10,000+ items: In addition to the warning message, the player will now be restricted from trading until the size of their inventory is reduced (though obtaining items through other methods is not prevented)
- 15,000+ items: In addition to the above restriction, the player will now be prevented from boarding vessels until their inventory size is reduced
