The Phantom Company was an early English joint-stock company that was formed initially for pursuing trade with the Horse Head Archipelago, but that ended up trading with the Pukru Island and Quetzal Island. The United Nations crew (at the time under the command of Aeoned) was granted an English Royal Charter, under the name Governor and Company of Merchants of London Trading into the Horse Head Archipelago, by Proffesa on 5th July 2008. After a rival English company challenged its monopoly in the later year, the two companies were merged in 2008 to form the United Nations Armard, Merchants of England who traded with the Horse Head Archipelago. The Flag did not compete well and was eventually disbanded, The Phantom Company grew in its place, serving Proffesa and the UK.
The Phantom Company traded mainly in cotton, silk, indigo dye, saltpetre, tea, and opium. However, it also came to rule large swathes of the Archipelago, exercising military power and assuming administrative functions, to the exclusion, gradually, of its commercial pursuits.
The Phantom Company has many divisions on many different oceans. The Phantom Company in Hunter is the only Division not in secrecy. The Hunter Division is also the only non-democratic division, the other divisions are led by a council. The Chairman of the Phantom Company chooses to keep his identity hidden. However the Phantom Company has many spies. The only known Phantom Council Members are Unclerucus, Proffesa and Paladindawn. The leading ambassador to the company is Lorddamian.
The flagship of the Phantom Company in Hunter is the HMS Charming Chub, which is a war frigate.
