He has a famous scupper rant after losing in carousing and is known to laze on pillages ignoring commands from the captain. He set the record for most planks in a week with 147. Many crews have blacklisted Gaou, it is very rare to see him on a Sea Monster Hunt or flotilla.
Gaou owns a cottage on Guava island, and it was voted by fellow pirates the nicest cottage in the trash.
