Game concept

Stitch paths between two points by rotating beads on tiles.

Objective

Create efficiently paths between two points on opposite sides of the playing field, with as few moves as possible.

Gameplay

Here's a prototype. UPDATED to version 2 http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/42791475/

It's prettier, more playable, and more boring. I'm going to have to fix that bit.

Make a line of red beads from the big red bead on the left, to the big red bead on the right. When you click the mouse, the four beads that are selected rotate clockwise, but there's no animation yet, so this might not be clear.

Playing field is a grid rotated 45 degrees. Various coloured beads are placed on each grid line intersection, barring the horizontal and vertical edges.

A start and finish bead of the same colours are placed at opposite edges of the field. The aim is to create a path of the same colour bead from the start point to the end point.

Beads are moved by rotating the grid pieces on which they sit. The pieces can be rotated clockwise or counterclockwise.

Once path is completed, the tiles which formed the path are all rotated clockwise once (this enables the player to set up complex combos), and the start and finish points disappear and are replaced by different points.

Bead Colours

  • Blank - no bead
  • Red
  • Blue
  • Green
  • Yellow
  • Pearl - can be any colour

Scoring

Paths are scored on how short they are (shorter paths are better), and how many moves they take to complete.

I'll have to prototype before I'm sure how this should be weighted.

Bonus scores are achieved by completing multiple paths simultaneously (a large bonus for this), or by completing multiple paths in consecutive moves (a smaller bonus).

Variability

Bead Colours

  • Blank - no bead
  • Red
  • Blue
  • Green
  • Pearl - can be any colour

Vertical paths?

End criteria

After a set number of paths are completed, the level ends, and the player can finish the session, or move onto another, more difficult level.

Difficulty scaling

More bead colours at one time. More paths to complete.

Crafting type

Would work best for tailoring, could also work for weaving
