What is Dotism?

Dotism, as it applies to YPP, is first and foremost a Viridian philosophy and underground movement. There are several contributors to the whole of Dotism over the years, and each has played a crucial role, whether they held a minor or major part, in its development. The philosophy attempts to identify and define certain roles played in Viridian's political society, whilst simultaneously setting the foundation for future political structures. The basic premise of Dotism is that each individual pirate is a dot on an expansive tapestry. A single dot in such a large setting is easily lost, drowned out amongst the millions of other specks of color around it. Dotism teaches that it is not through the individual, but rather a collection of 'Dots' focused around a central idea that have time and again changed the 'backdrop' of Viridian's History.

Still havn't answered my question!

In essence, Dotism is the belief that all change comes through the mob, and not from the top of the political or social ladder. It teaches that in politics, there is no right or wrong, and often no clear winner or loser. Thus, any group of individuals with a single direction have the power to drastically influence the mindset of the ocean, whatever their cause may be.

How does one become a Dotist?

This is a multi-faceted question. Becoming a Dotist isn't something that is done in an instant. True Dotism requires study of the political structure, and individual political components of the Viridian System. It also entails application- i.e. a true Dotist is one who actively engages in, and seeks to effect, the Viridian political system whilst following Dotist beliefs.

So what's the point of all this?

Over the years, Viridian has worked itself into a quandry. It has as an ocean progressively adopted the idea that one Flag/Alliance will be in control of the ocean, whilst the 'oppressed' repeatedly raise various champions at various times to combat those at the top. These champions all ultimately fail, because they are nothing more than the next Oppressor. The regime that remains in power may thus point to this fact, and through mere 'survival of the onslaught' destroy the Champion of the People and crush resistance. Why is this so easy? To really understand, we must first delve into the realm of Luneaism, one of the major components of Dotism, and a clear look into its application at a more personal and relevant level.

The future of Dotism

Like all philosophies, Dotism undergoes constant development, but may only be presented in pieces at a time. In this way, although the guidelines and premises, as well as more detailed ideologies remain intact, they are constantly being expanded upon by recent events. If Dotism is to stay relevant, it cannot be absorbed all at once.
