Category talk:Tutorials
Expanding
This category seems to be underused right now, and I'd like to bring some articles from Gameplay and Terminology over here, since some of them would certainly qualify as being tutorialish, but what about the articles which are generally encyclopedic (that is, they're explaining a term, or what have you), but also contain significant tutorial elements? I'm looking at things like Event here; should I add the article to the tutorial category, or should I strip out the "How to Organize Events" part into a new page, and give that the category tag? I'm just looking for a way to add some more meat to the tutorials section without making it bloated and unnavigatable. :/ What do people think? --Emufarmers 18:47, 8 May 2006 (PDT)
- Yarr? This might result in a lot of articles being split, or at least recategorized, so I was hoping for a second opinion on what to do before I rush headlong into it. --Emufarmers 19:08, 9 May 2006 (PDT)
- I don't think splitting or re-categorizing is really necessary right now. Articles like Avatar are already categorized both under terminology and tutorial; there's no reason the articles that you're looking at can't be double categorized as well. If both parts to the original article start to become too large, then we can look at splitting.--Fiddler 19:26, 9 May 2006 (PDT)
- Fair enough. One thing, though: Is something being a "strategy" piece (drinking, for instance; or most of the puzzle articles for that matter) qualify it as a tutorial? Could always have a category for strategy, or is the distinction not really great enough to bother? --Emufarmers 19:44, 9 May 2006 (PDT)

Easier Browsing
I found that when I am looking for an article about, for example, sword fighting I have to look through the whole alphabeticle list of tutorials to find all of the articles about sword fighting. I think it would be prudent for the articles to have the common name (Shoppe management, Bilging) of the puzzle or activity first in its title. One good example is the "Black Death Sword and Sprincle Placement Guide". I believe that it would make it much esier for people looking for tutorials ascociated with sword fighting if this article was called something like: Sword and Sprincle Placement. Or: Sword and Sprinkle Guide, Black Death. Also, this is my first time that I've involved my self in the editing of a wiki so forgive me if Im out of line.
- As a copy/editor of Wikipedia, there is a way to sort things in certain ways so that, for example, "Jamesh's Ultimate Foraging" guide would show up under "F" for foraging, but still have the same name. It is rather simple to do, and I would be happy to apply it to the different pages. All it takes is adding one line, and does not interfere at all with what is seen on the page itself. - After looking over the pages, here are a few examples of what I mean:
- "Baghlah pillaging guide" would be sorted under P for Pillaging.
- Boothook's gunning guides would be sorted under G for Gunning.
- Boothook's rumbling guides would be sorted under R for Rumbling.
- "Jamesh's Ultimate Foraging" would be sorted under F for Foraging.
- "The Inomplete Guide to Blockade Decisions would be sorted under B for Blockade.
- Like I said, these are just a few examples. Someone get back to me on this. Lightshow1 08:23, 9 April 2013 (PDT)
