Calescence
Calescence is captain of the crew Paradise Lost and king of the flag Paradise Regained on the Midnight Ocean. He is a lieutenant in the Epsilon Island Navy in the Emerald Archipelago.
The Origins
Calescence's date of birth has long been washed away like the eroding sands of time. Sired by the infamous Captain Torridthorn and a supposed Siren of the Azure Ocean (Tis said there wasn't anything Torrid wouldn't try once... twice just to make sure he wasn't wrong the first time), Cale was orphaned as a lad when his father sailed off into the horizons and into the oceans of Midnight.
Calescence was raised by a pub lass named Sweet Tara who was able to regale the young lad about his father's tales. Try as she may though to suppress the blood born desire for the sea,finding his first ship docked unmanned and unguarded in the port of Epsilon Island, Calescence soon found himself aboard a stolen vessel seeking his father's whereabouts. Long years passed, the tales ran cold...and then a stroke of luck, a tip from an old salt during a brawl in the Laydowner Arms led Cale to his father's shack on the Island of Epsilon. Cale found his father's aged, withered and gleaming white bones laid out across his desk, the handle of a skull dagger still gleaming its gold inlay in the back.
There, amid the papers his father had been working with lay Torrid's Last Will and Testament. As he read, a burning fire burned deep within Cale, rending his soul and awakening the Dragon within. Torrid had left all his worldy possessions to Cale, the son he never knew, the prized possessions of Torrid were meager, save one...captainship of the Dark Thorn Dragons and kingship of the flag Dragon's Brood.
Cale, imbued with the fires of the Dragon within, wrenched free the cursed skull dagger from his father's bleached bones and opened a wound in his hand to seal his fate, signing the contract of piracy and damnation laid before him by the souless demons of the abyss in blood...Calescence became captain and king that day and continues to haunt the waters, spreading fear to yon enemies both near and far throughout the Midnight Ocean.
