Midnight Angler Scientific Name: Acerbus Lophius

This fascinating creature is kin to the already amazing genus Lophius Piscatorius, or normal Angler Fish. While the original Angler uses the strange combonation of a light lure and amazingly over-developed teeth, the Midnight Angler uses a lure of a different sort. It actually absorbs light, making it appear as though a pitch black hole is in the ocean. It takes it's hiding place with it.

While normal Anglers are deep ocean creatures, the Midnight Angler ranges anywhere from the deepest trenches to being seen from passing ships. It's natural prey is, of course, the Curious Guppy, but many other species remarkably do not notice the moving darkness. It moves about sullenly, seemingly in a brooding manner, taking out it's violent tendancies on passing fish that don't seem to suspect something they don't see. It's only natural enemy is the Voracious Maw, the only counter to the unknown enemy in the darkness. Even the Underwater Fanged Pine does not attempt to attack such a foe.

It is suspected that only male Midnight Anglers have the midnight power, considering only females of it's cousin species have the bioluminescence. It would make sense, considering the males have made due in the darkness. But, unfortunately, marine biologists have had the toughest time attempting to decipher this creature, as nobody has ever seen the fish itself. Fish simply get sucked into the darkness, and with a puff, simply dissapear.
