Seals o' Piracy Layout

Aye? We don't like the structured layout? All in a heap looks better? --Belthazar451 20:58, 1 January 2010 (UTC)

I'm open to other ideas, but I couldn't figure out a good way to integrate Jan 2010 into the existing layout. Feel free to play around to make it look good. FWIW, it's going to be a long time before we get another annual trophy. We can rearrange it when we get to December 2010. --Barrister 21:24, 1 January 2010 (UTC)
I'm not really clear on the problem - just stick it next to the December 2009 trophy. Granted, the fact that the year ends in the middle of a season makes things a little weird, but I figured the layout was obvious enough that it wouldn't be too confusing. (Mind you, I originally had the 2009 cell one row shorter - someone extended it right to the bottom, but I couldn't be bothered switching it back.) Incidentally, while it's still a year until the next annual trophy, it's only a month until the next seasonal trophy. --Belthazar451 23:18, 1 January 2010 (UTC)
Ah, when I tried that, it looked like the Jan 2010 trophy was contributing towards the 2009 annual trophy. I'm also not sure if seasonal trophies will be awarded every three months or on some other schedule. --Barrister 23:40, 1 January 2010 (UTC)
Alright, here we go. Assuming they award seals for the rest of the year, and also award seasonal seals, here's the logical extension of our two layouts: mine and yours. Admittedly, with the same image being used for all the seals, it does get a little hard to make things out, but I do think mine is slightly more intuitive, save for that silly year-ending-in-mid-season thing. The idea is that on each row, the three seals contribute to the seasonal seal - in yours, it's three seals somewhere in the middle contribute to a seasonal seal somewhere down the bottom. Possibly mine needs something wider or more obvious to separate the monthly seals from seasonal seals. And maybe spreading winter over two rows would fix the months-going-to-the-wrong-years problem. (On an interesting side note, I discovered for the first time just now that all of the four seasons have six letters in their names. =D )--Belthazar451 00:18, 3 January 2010 (UTC)
Perhaps something like this? --Barrister 12:20, 3 January 2010 (UTC)
I've tried my hand at a vertical version of the month/season/year progression just to see what it'd look like. --Fiddler 21:20, 3 January 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for putting together another mock-up. However, I think I'm concerned about how much empty space is used by the annual trophy. (I hadn't realized it before, but that was nagging at me in the earlier design.) The trophy page is already gigantic, and it seems wise to keep things compact where possible. --Barrister 15:12, 4 January 2010 (UTC)

[Undent] Maybe I'm biased cause I made it, but I still think mine is the best. =) I still think, Barrister, that yours involves too much searching to find the triggers of related trophies - if you're going to say that this trophy is won for getting X Y and Z other trophies, you're going to want the other trophies at hand. (Though I kinda realise that the only precedent we have is the Ultimate Pirate/Crafter/Carouser trophies, which ARE kept separate, though admittedly there's more of them.) As for Fiddler, I agree with Barrister - it's very quickly gonna get incredibly wide, or incredibly long. Or both.

For my next trick, I tried implementing the idea I had above of splitting winter into two rows, only to then notice that Fiddler had tried the same. In any case, it's here. It doesn't really take up a great deal more room than your suggestion, and I still feel it's much more intuitive. --Belthazar451 20:41, 4 January 2010 (UTC)

This one works for me. Fiddler, what do you think? --Barrister 20:47, 4 January 2010 (UTC)
I like it. My only concern is that the layout isn't going to make much sense until we get to March and have another two monthly seals and another seasonal seal to fill out the pattern. But that's a minor concern and one that'll go away quick enough. --Fiddler 20:03, 5 January 2010 (UTC)
That sounds like consensus to me. Belthazar, will you do the honors and update the trophy page? --Barrister 20:13, 5 January 2010 (UTC)

Midas GF

You gonna take screenshots of your new Midas for the wiki, or do you want me to come and find you? =) --Belthazar451 08:52, 6 January 2010 (UTC)

It won't be ready for weeks. :-( I recommend taking screen shots of the ones being shown by the OMs. --Barrister 09:43, 6 January 2010 (UTC)
There's an idea. Probably should wait until the snow on the rigging melts, though. --Belthazar451 09:53, 6 January 2010 (UTC)
I think you can just turn off the special effects in your settings. --Barrister 10:01, 6 January 2010 (UTC)
Hush, you. If I wait, someone else might do it. =Þ --Belthazar451 10:10, 6 January 2010 (UTC)
Lol! :P Adrielle ♥ =) 10:14, 6 January 2010 (UTC)

I tried to do some - Hope I did them right! Adrielle ♥ =) 11:20, 6 January 2010 (UTC)

Slightly pondering one thing - considering Midas is a proper noun, should it be "Midas class"? --Belthazar451 11:25, 6 January 2010 (UTC)
Possibly, lol! Feel free to change it! Adrielle ♥ =) 11:28, 6 January 2010 (UTC)
Yes, please use "Midas class" since Midas is a name of a person. Thanks. --Barrister 16:37, 6 January 2010 (UTC)
Okay - fixed 'em =D Adrielle ♥ =) 21:36, 6 January 2010 (UTC)

Rogue war brig

Psst, I left a note on the Rogue class war brig article about the walls, and I wanted to point out that the north end arrow is in fact accounted for on the plan ;). That was the O running along the top wall (the potbelly stove a little further up is a prop, so that's not what the O is referencing). --Thunderbird 04:12, 9 April 2010 (UTC)

Dutch Meetup 2010

Hey there! Should we consider removing "Dutch Meetup 2010" from the "other links" section of the sidebar? It has already passed and I don't see much reason for it to be there anymore. Thanks! --Addihockey (talkcontribs) 02:28, 24 September 2010 (UTC)

Good catch. I've removed it. FYI, it's better to post to the forums for this kind of thing in case I'm not around. -- Barrister 22:10, 24 September 2010 (UTC)
Alrighty :), I haven't been around for awhile, just kind of hanging around on Wikipedia. Thanks :) --Addihockey (talkcontribs) 22:01, 27 September 2010 (UTC)

RfC opened at YPPedia talk:Policies and guidelines

Hello, I got your name from a prior RfC where you commented, and thought you would be interested in this one. It's a relatively minor point, whether to restrict standard-named vessels from crew and flag articles like personal pirate pages. You can find it at YPPedia talk:Policies and guidelines#Bullet list of Ships on Crew/Flag pages. Thanks for your attention. Chupchup 00:41, 16 November 2010 (UTC)

Island Images

Should I be uploading these new island images I'm taking of Midnight islands to all the Cerulean pages as well? Not sure if that makes sense or not, yet. --Fannon 21:27, 12 January 2012 (PST)

Yes, please upload them to the Cerulean pages. They'll be quite accurate when Cerulean launches for real and Midnight is shut down. --Barrister 09:38, 13 January 2012 (PST)
