The Sea Hares was created in June 2005 by Silversnap, mainly so she could memorise the ocean in peace without having to worry about cabin people hopping onto the ship. Initially a one person crew, The Sea Hares expanded when Silversnap's real life daughter Lethe joined as senior officer.
Silversnap and Lethe remain the two most active mates in the crew, though various crewmates and hearties from other oceans have also joined. Valuing their independence (and because Lethe wanted to be a princess), The Sea Hares had long intended to make their own flag, but were lacking the fame. When Silversnap spotted that the crew had reached Noted, they leapt into action - and with the help of their hearties Bluetoes, Nirithil and Hooke, the crew soon reached Established fame and the flag Day of the Tentacle was born in July 2006.
The Sea Hares' public statement is, "Ahoy mateys! We be the Sea Hares, speedin' across the oceans!". Silversnap thought this was apt as she and Lethe are skilled at navigation and sailing respectively.
