Yer First Steps

I added the three mission board thing that comes up first. I also added the ability to change clothes colour/style which wasnt previously on it. I cant find a more recent screenshot of the pirate customisation board at the start, so can someone please update that picture underneath the pirate creation paragraph. --Lukefitz 22:33, 19 July 2008 (UTC)

Crafting puzzles

I rolled back Elikabeth's change because I've verified that playing the puzzle directly *will* get you paid -- no matter your status. What you can't do (without either a labor badge or subscribing) is take a job at a shoppe. --Barrister 10:56, 11 August 2005 (PDT)

Mini-map and movement

Since I hear this question a lot in chat circles with greenies, I was wondering where should the mini-map and how to use the mini-map should go in here. I believe that it would be quite useful to have in here.Rappak 10:37, August 29, 2005 (PDT)

I'm thinking rewriting some of the Walking Around information would be good in between "Rescued by the Pollywog" and "The Notice Board." – Yaten talk 14:05, 29 August 2005 (PDT)
I'm confused. Are you thinking about rewriting some of it and then putting it in the wiki or suggesting that they rewrite that doc? Rappak 07:53, August 30, 2005 (PDT)
I was thinking about rewriting the information in that documentation and putting it in the wiki. – Yaten talk 13:41, 30 August 2005 (PDT)

Talking like a pirate

Moved this section to its own page.
Pirate language -User:Nikells

Added "Talking like a pirate" section. I've tried to edit it the best I can to keep the size down however the blockquotes take up an awful lot of space.

Additions to the Pirate Thesaurus to follow from myself aswell as (hopefully) others. - User:Nikells 13:38, 04 September 2005

Looks like a good start. This may even warrant its own page...check out http://www.puzzlepirates.com/docs/vocabulary.html for a few more terms. – Yaten talk 06:44, 4 September 2005 (PDT)
Is there a way to create a new page? I'm a little put off adding many more terms to the section as its a little long already. Also: thanks for the link, didn't see that! - User:Nikells 22:40, 04 September 2005

Pollywog

I was just thinking: Get your own Pollywog is misleading as you cannot own a pollywog, maybe it should be: Get your own ship/vessel/boat. Eh? Smthecool 10:32, 17 November 2005 (PST)

  • Maybe it should. So I changed it. What the heck is a pollywog anyways? (Oh right; well in any case "Pollywog" is the name of a ship, not a type of ship, or type of item in the game, and if you said "anybody selling a Pollywog?" you might get some strange looks) --Adramolek 22:01, 1 March 2007 (PST)

Pets

Thoughts on adding a section regarding how to acquire the free rat, or possibly a link to the pets article? --Rixation(t/c) 06:07, 16 August 2006 (PDT)

Maybe info about the 'Loot yer Home' mission? --Sagacious (talk) 06:37, 16 August 2006 (PDT)
There's actually a decent bit of work to be done on this article - there are now three 'primary' missions that are shown before the noticeboard interface when creating a new alt. I forgot to write them down yesterday, but they don't appear to be randomly grabbed from the list - the middle one was always 'loot your home' for me. --AtteSmythe 09:12, 16 August 2006 (PDT)
There's a lot of work that can be done to this. It hasn't had a substantial edit since I first brought it over from the Wikicities site last July; a lot of the paragraphs are still just as I wrote them. Overall, I think the whole thing could be trimmed down a bit too; it's a very long article.--Fiddler 09:16, 16 August 2006 (PDT)
I'd definitely agree that it needs trimming down. I only added a quick update for the three latest "major" additions. Since there are still hundreds of new greenies visiting the game daily, quite a few of which make their way here, I figured it was important to cover those aspects before someone takes the time to rewrite basically the whole article. --Rixation(t/c) 09:31, 16 August 2006 (PDT)

Out of date stuff

I just created a new account and there are several new screens I'd never seen before. I can't grab screenshots from this box, but here's just a quick, short list of obvious things that need to be added or changed:

  • "Create an account" screen (for accounts that aren't created on the puzzlepirates.com site, but rather in the game client).
  • New account ocean selection screen (displays two buttons for two random oceans, one sub & one doub).
  • New pirate / first login mission selection (get loot for yer home, learn to bilge, learn to swordfight, find friends on the dock).
  • Info about free puzzle days?
  • Remove extraneous info about item decay, and the entire "Become a blockade navigator" section?

--Rixation(t/c) 11:08, 23 August 2006 (PDT)

PTG already has some screenshots of some of that stuff at GHT:First steps and GHT:The docks.--Fiddler 11:24, 23 August 2006 (PDT)

Sunshine Widget

Is there a reason that the Sunshine Widget isn't discussed here? If greenies are looking here, there should at least be a short discussion. If no one objects, I'll throw something on here (even if it's just copied from that page, which IMHO probably needs to be duplicated here anyway). Sashamorning 10:57, 8 February 2007 (PST)

I don't think anybody would object... just add it. Well, I guess I'll do it. --Adramolek 22:04, 1 March 2007 (PST)
Would somebody mind adding a picture of the main interface window? I can't for the life of me figure out how to upload images to this thing. I don't understand wikis, and the documentation for uploading images is mysteriously absent (I found something about "interface image" tags that was mostly meaningless to me). Thanks. --Adramolek 22:16, 1 March 2007 (PST)
To upload a picture, go here. If you don't get the tag right at first, don't worry too much - someone who knows will come along later and fix it. -- Thefirstdude (t/c) 22:25, 1 March 2007 (PST)
Hey thanks! :) I dunno though, it kind of looks like poo... but I can't think of any better way to lay out the page. --Adramolek 22:58, 1 March 2007 (PST)

New images are too large

The new images are far too large and have a detrimental effect on the load time of this article. File:Interface.jpg was 33 KB, and File:Interface.png ballooned to 531 KB. That's another half-megabyte. File:Creation.png, already large in PNG format at 205 KB, was re-uploaded in the same format at 840 KB. That's over a half-megabyte again and bogs this page down with an extra meg of data to download before anyone gets to see the images. Furthermore, Interface.png does not show the vital parts of the interface that the text is describing. These images are just supposed to provide a rough overview of the game, and I don't think it's any loss if the text is not so readable. Everyone can load their own client and see the game interface for themselves. Let's go back and start with the original versions of these files, and see if we can improve some of them without multiplying the load times tenfold. Chupchup 09:00, 8 January 2013 (PST)

Give me 15 minutes and I'll shrink them down in file size =] <3 png compression Avastme Talk 13:27, 8 January 2013 (PST)
Shrank first by 86% and second by 70% =] If you require the interface to show a sort of better view tell me what panel to show and I'll create it in. Avastme Talk 13:33, 8 January 2013 (PST)
