Documenting items that don't add additional doubloon costs in one category

I had a look over of clothing items on Sage. Black and purple are only counted once when adding doubloon costs, and if both are present, only the 2 doubloon cost extra for black is counted, unless it was used in the part that doesn't increment on an item, then it's purple that will count. Also, on some items, the secondary color doesn't change the doubloon cost no matter what it is (even for purple and black). Not sure where to note it, but I'll list the items I've found so far here:

  • Buckle shoes (both genders)
  • Tiara (female)
  • Crown (male)
  • Wide-brimmed hat (female)
  • Flare pants (female)

Buccaneer jacket is an oddball. The secondary color will only add 1 at most regardless of whether it's purple or black. However, the primary color will add doubloons independent of the primary color (black/black is 12, standard colors is 9). Confusion++? --Thunderbird 17:32, 20 November 2005 (PST)

It seems that gold doesn't affect Doubloon prices at all. --Ihope127 07:08, 19 December 2005 (PST)

more doubloon costs

The new clothing items need to be added to the extra doubloon table, if someone has time to get the informaiton. --Barrister 15:16, 21 June 2006 (PDT)

Something I've been meaning to say for awhile

Why is the doubloon cost table not hidden behind a "see also"?

I obviously can't speak for anyone else, but I've been getting complaints about it being big and scary, as well as making the information on the page less useful (The stuff people really want to see, 90% of the time, is on the pages for the individual pieces of clothing. The doubloon cost table shunts the links to those down by about four to six screenlengths, and at least one or two people who have spoken to me have just assumed that there's nothing below it, so don't bother reading down and instead bug their local neighborhood administrator for help finding them. Cough.)

Never mind that it only applies to the half of the userbase that uses doubloons, anyway.

Permission to hide behind a link? It's still useful, and I can definetly appreciate the effort put into creating and maintaining it, but right now it seems to be more of a well-maintained stumbling block than anything more useful. :-/ --Ponytailguy 19:02, 11 July 2006 (PDT)

At the very least, it should be the last thing on the clothing page. But a separate page would be fine. Maybe call it "Clothing doubloon costs"? (I'm kind of iffy on that name, so feel free to try something else.) --Barrister 23:19, 11 July 2006 (PDT)

Clothing Length of Life

It would be very helpful if a section detailed how long clothing lasts or what actions cause clothing to wear out faster (if such a thing does occur).

This is covered in both List of decay rates as well as the various other clothing pages like Clothing (torso). Decay is mentioned in the very first paragraph of this article. --Barrister 07:34, 23 September 2007 (PDT)

add "Notorious Corsair" items to "Restrictions"

I believe we should add in a reference to the Notorious Corsair items (Notorious corsair's coat; Notorious corsair's hat) into this section, as these two items are "restricted" (specifically, needing appropriate Trophy for Reputation)... Franklincain

Done - how's that? Chupchup 08:00, 7 May 2012 (PDT)
tweaked the wording, and added border to table (since there's four columns to it now)... Franklincain
The tweaked wording is now entirely incorrect. The items do not require reputation, they require the trophy. One can attain the trophy and then revert to a lower level of reputation and still wear the item. Chupchup 09:53, 7 May 2012 (PDT)
actually, items need past-or-present Illustrious Rep, which is noted by trophy. trophy is the trigger, but the Rep itself is the "true" requirement. Franklincain
No, Chupchup is correct - the trophy is the requirement. This is specifically emphasised in the original release notes, in Official:Reputation, and in the order interface mouse-over text. For added proof, I have the Monogrammed Ingot trophy, but am currently only Established in Magnate, but I can still buy the hat. --Belthazar451 14:56, 7 May 2012 (PDT)
I think anyone can buy the hat. It's wearing it that is restricted. The order interface tells me I don't have enough money to purchase it, though. Chupchup 15:34, 7 May 2012 (PDT)
There has never been restrictions on buying items, the restrictions are for wearing them. Otherwise people would need the requirements just to stock tailor racks and their equivalents. --Thunderbird 16:46, 7 May 2012 (PDT)
Though, to add to that, the lock icon above an item in the purchasing interface is only there if you can't place/wear the item. I have the Stamped Ingot (Celebrated Magnate), but am currently Renowned, and the lock icon doesn't appear for the Magnate's treasure chest. Also, there are four trophies for Illustrious rep, one in each category. You can wear the clothes with just one of them, the Monogrammed Ingot trophy is not specifically required. --Thunderbird 16:57, 7 May 2012 (PDT)
Yeah, that was just a poor choice of words - it's the lock icon I was referring to. I know the Monogrammed Ingot is not specifically required - it is, however, the one I specifically have. What point are you two trying to argue, exactly? =P --Belthazar451 00:44, 8 May 2012 (PDT)
Also, there is no such thing as "above" Illustrious. Chupchup 10:24, 7 May 2012 (PDT)
yeah...fixed that...sorry... Franklincain

since table had four cells, re-arranged from 1x4 to 2x2. looks prettier, easier to read. --Franklincain

Cursed Isles

I added historical notes about Cursed Isles and Haunted Seas. However, we are not sure if all three masks came out simultaneously for CI. If anyone has more knowledge about that, please adjust the text accordingly. Thanks. Chupchup 15:44, 20 November 2012 (PST)

Actually, we're sure they weren't simultaneous. I don't remember exatly when they were released - though I do know the enthralled mask is way more recent than the other two - but the upload dates for the clothing images gives you some idea. The enlightened mask and high enlightened mask images weren't added until a year after the Cursed Isles, and the enthralled mask image was two years after that. --Belthazar451 18:58, 20 November 2012 (PST)
