Superlemon Krakatoa (also known in various sources as SLK, the Lemons, SuperK) was a flag of the Midnight Ocean.

History of Superlemon Krakotoa

Superlemon Krakatoa was originally the name of a tiny PvP crew of alts under the flag Disco Pirate Super Party based mostly in the Ruby Archipelago. Three of the members were senior officers in Dioses Y Demonios (members of the Looterati flag at the time), but the rest of the crew were of a disparate nature - their main characters not from one specific crew nor flag. It was the mates' goals at the time simply to remain independent from any official alliances or ties, allowing them to adhere to their "non-disengage" PvP policy without preference or discrimination.

It was after this time that Dioses Y Demonios decided to plough their own furrow, leave Looterati, and go it alone on the big seas. The crew decided to adopt the partly defunct Superlemon Krakatoa name for flag purposes. From the start, the flag actively shunned official in-game ties, but maintained close friendships with like-minded pirate crews and flags. The flag believed strongly in openness and collective decision-making by all members. To this end, the monarch consulted all flag mates on directions and decisions.

A lot of the history of Superlemon Krakatoa is related with Ostreum Island which the crew decided (vaguely) resembled a pair of breasts. They had intended to take the island weeks earlier with an unofficial pact made with Phoenix Reborn. Superlemon Krakatoa were doubled-crossed and Phoenix Reborn took the island for themselves. However, Phoenix Reborn were relieved of their governship a couple of weeks later once Superlemon Krakatoa had allowed them to build up the infrastructure and save themselves the expense.

Superlemon Krakatoa were involved in various wars: some serious post-blockade wars; some merely for bragging rights. They never lost a war in terms of number of victories.

Superlemon Krakatoa, the flag, is now defunct but the name is carried on by the crew formerly known as Dioses Y Demonios.

Important Dates

  • Ostreum IV - 17 July 2005, the crew's small (approximately 35 mates) and unallied flag of the same name successfully blockaded Ostreum Island by beating Phoenix Reborn (almost 300 mates strong at that point) largely due to the support from the flag's friends.
  • NoFam-SK war Mark II - 3 to 19 February 2006, the flag was at war with Notorious Fandango. Superlemon Krakatoa won by six sinks to three (or nine victories to six if counting swordfights). This war was originally just declared to make the uncontested blockade of the 4th of February at Ostreum a sinking one, but two more weeks of sinking followed.
  • Ostreum V - Ostreum had been the winner of the Anti-Tournament, which culminated in the blockade of the island the 4th February but due to real life issues and the hour of the blockade, SK did not contend, but SK vowed they would return.
  • Ostreum VII - 18 March 2006, Superlemon Krakatoa took Ostreum back from Notorious Fandango.

Legacy

  • They invented the word Boomy - a word used in various contexts now by many blockading flags.
  • They began to use a higher standard of artwork and creativity for their blockade intent posts than had been previously used.
  • In a time when most pillages were ran by a single or select group of navigators, Superlemon Krakatoa encouraged everyone aboard their ships to try their hand at battle navigation: in equal parts to encourage leadership qualities in the flagmates, to make the whole crew culpable for the outcome of the pillages and to allow all flagmates the enjoyment of battle navigation.
  • They showed other flags that, in a blockade, the island itself was not the most important factor - the blockade was. This was clear when they decided not to contest a blockade they would not be able to attend - returning at their convenience to reclaim the island. Later flags followed in Superlemon's ideology.
  • They demonstrated that a small (officially) unaffiliated flag was capable of taking a medium sized island.
