Art budget
Often referred to on the forums, the art budget is not a budget in the financial sense. Instead, it is used to describe the amount of artwork that goes into the game, and the result this has on download times. A stated goal of Grey Havens is to produce a game that is of high quality without requiring significantly advanced computer hardware to run it. The download time, and file size, must be compact and accessible even to users with old computers and slow internet connections. Including too much art would make the file size larger than acceptable.
It is most often invoked in relation to suggestions such as having pirates be able to sit or lie down on furniture (All items of clothing, familiars, and pirate body parts would have to be redrawn for every piece of useable furniture), making framed portraits more closely resemble the actual portrait framed, and other such otherwise cosmetic changes.
