His Story

After living a rather inconspicuous live on the old continent, Jay Blood was confronted with the Three Year wars. During these wars between several countries and the Brigands trying to expand their influence, Blood enlisted in his countries navy.

Starting out as an ensign, he fought numerous battles. His excellence in naval duties earned him a promotion to Lieutenant in no time. After winning the Battle of Fjord, in which Blood took the command of the Frigate following the death of his captain, he got his first commission as a captain.

Two years after the ransacking of the town of Vlissingen, a Brigand fleet aided by several Barbarian vessels took control of Nijmegen, Blood’s hometown. Despite he was ordered to stay at sea in order to defend the capital, Blood set sail for Cuijk. There he and most his crew disembarked and headed to Nijmegen over land, whilst his ship set sail towards Nijmegen with a minimal crew and totally unarmed accompanied by mere fishing boats.

Whilst the crew with the ship’s guns slowly marched onto Nijmegen, the “war” fleet attracted the attention of the Brigands occupying Nijmegen. Assuming a large fleet was on its way to Nijmegen the Brigand fleet was deployed to intercept and defeat em.

The small force left in Nijmegen was taken by complete surprise when Blood and his crew attacked. Hence Nijmegen was recaptured without a fight, and undamaged. The Brigand fleet that was on an interception course of the “war” fleet saw that fleet turn about and running before they intercepted em.

Thinking they had scared em of, they returned to Nijmegen celebrating their supposed victory. When they reached Nijmegen they where unprepared, and thus they didn’t stand a chance when the fortress overlooking the harbour opened fire. In recognition of the liberation, Nijmegen awarded Cpt. Blood the Golden Cross of Nijmegen.

Yet the admiralty was not willing to recognize what Blood did. He had disobeyed their orders and was charged with Mutiny. During the course of his trial the Three Years war ended. This, for so many a joyful development, altered Cpt. Blood’s trial completely. During the war, judgment on Blood was difficult, for how can ye hang a decorated war hero. Yet now the war had ended, Blood was sentenced to be hanged.

Awaiting his execution Blood was sent to Arnhem Prison. Luckily for him, the people of Nijmegen, and maybe more important the Government of Nijmegen didn’t forget their liberator. A small force of the Nijmegen militia freed Blood and helped him to escape to Nijmegen. There his former crew awaited him with his sloop.

In de dead of night, the decorated hero sneaked out of his country and set sail for the colonies on Hunter Ocean. Embittered by the injustice inflicted on him, Blood and his crew decided to become pirates. Wreaking havoc on all ships on Hunter Ocean, but especially on the Brigands, Blood and his Flying Dutchmen now sail the open seas of Hunter.
