Loose Change is the left-facing, upgraded bank of Eta Island, erected in August 2004 under the governance of the flag Silver Dawn. Originally named OOO Shiny by owners Easily Distracted, the building was renamed to Eta Bank after the Scallywag Syndicate's takeover following Eta III.
Syndicate leader and then-bank-owner Robertdonald solicited donations to raise the 100,000 PoE required to purchase the new name. Many people were unhappy with the old name of the bank. [1] Contributions were published at the bank's shoppe news:

Eta Island has since been taken back by Silver Dawn, however restoring the original name of OOO Shiny was deemed unnecessary because of the introduction of the global purse.
At the end of September 2006, Notorious Fandango gained control of the island, and deemed the rename worthy of 75k (a flag donation). The name was chosen as a reflection upon the then-recently retired pirate Looseweed, who had brought about much of a change to the flag.
