User Pages
User pages are exempt from a lot of the rules that a pirate page must follow. They don't have to be encyclopedic, don't have to be about their pirate, don't have to use an infobox, they can include lists of their ships, etc. There are very few reasons that an editor on the Yppedia has for editing an user page that is not their own. There is also no reason for moving a page from userspace to mainspace unless a user has asked for help with it. If you are unsure of whether something is appropriate on a user page, I would suggest you leave a message on one of the administrator's talk pages and we can check it out. As such, your move of User:Blackink has been reverted. -- Cedarwings (t/c) 18:49, 28 October 2007 (PDT)
Talk archive
I understand (sort of) your reasons for blanking this page but it would be useful if the messages that you received went into some sort of archive. Maybe something similar to this page. I don't like to repeat messages if they have already been given and I know it has happened at least once on your talk page. I could even create it for you if you like. -- Cedarwings (t/c) 18:49, 28 October 2007 (PDT)
Cleanup tag
The Swobby article was fine. It just needed to have the infobox fixed. Don't tag an article as cleanup needing an infobox, links and more info if it doesn't need those things. The article in question had an infobox (even if it was slightly broken), links to other articles and a pirate stub tag which denotes when an article could use more information. --Guppymomma 15:40, 23 October 2007 (PDT)
A Polite Request
We are still learning to use YPP and we are doing OK, just because we don't finish an article in one go doesn't mean that it is A) incorrect or B) will remain in that state. Also you started editing my article earlier, while I was already in the process of doing so. I found it quite rude and also intimidating that you jumped in straight away before considering the fact the author may have further contributions in the immediate future. Once again thanks for the formatting help on the crew page, but I personally and on behalf of my crew respectfully request you refrain from editing our crew, flag and member pages in future in the interests of accuracy. We are confident administrators are qualified enough to pick up on our errors and advise us accordingly. KR, Kelli -- Kellifer1980 16:07, 23 October 2007 (PDT)
Cheers :) I think I got it though.. it's about about info box, which I knew about. I was guna leave it till tomorrow but I've done it now to keep them happy :) Thanks for the formatting help on the Golden Bladers page. If you see any errors can you let me know rather than editing? It's my crew's page so we keen to have the crew edit it as they feel appropriate for content :) Many thanks.
A couple of things
- If you wish to propose a change to a template, your second attempt was the correct action. The talk page of the template you wish to see changes to will get responses from the correct people. Leaving a message on the talk page of most of the OMs will not speed up the process. In fact the OM that you left a message for was updating pages that appear in-game and she does not actively monitor the Yppedia.
- I'm not sure exactly why, but if you are clearing your talk page so that others don't see what was written on it, it is somewhat pointless as the history of the page still exists and someone can always go back check what messages have been left here. +
