This Month's Featured Article Contest

Ahoy there. There was a recent discussion on the forums about the lack of administrator involvement with the contest I am running right now. While I don't find it necessary to have all the admins vote for the winner of the competition, I feel if 1 or 2 weighed in it might alleviate some of the apprehensions about this manner of voting. If you happen to have time and would like to cast your vote for this month's featured article winner, I would greatly appreciate it. Template_talk:Featured_article Thanks! --Muffynz 09:42, 26 June 2007 (PDT)

Blockade Entry

Actually, I think I finally figured out the {{ifdef}} (Usage) idea and you're right, that should make things much easier. I'm attempting to teach myself wiki template coding so if possible I would please like to take one or two more cracks at it before I break down and start crying. :) Once I hit that low point, I'll drop you a line and let you come in and make it look easy. --Muffynz 22:16, 2 July 2007 (PDT)

Ha, you read my mind. The second the ifdef template finally clicked in my head I figured go with the bkpower template off the front page. Correct me if I'm wrong but I do think (on try #9) that I now have it right. Thanks for letting me work on this, I'm really trying to improve my coding skills. --Muffynz 22:31, 2 July 2007 (PDT)
Usage notes added and the strength level moved to the line under where it was. Only one problem, what happens when a BK is not the attacker but instead is the defender? I suppose we won't find out till someone blockades Jorvik if the strength indicator is even displayed when the BK is a defender. Anyway, thanks so very much for your help, I am slowly but surely getting competent at this. --Muffynz 22:48, 2 July 2007 (PDT)

My pets boochiness?

Ahoy! On Harrold, the width of the My pets template seems to be booched so it gets cut off, and I can't for the life of me figure out why, and/or fix it. Changing the width parameter of the My pets/start seems to do nothing. I was hoping you could take a look at it and hopefully see what I missed :) Thanks! -- Thefirstdude (t/c) 23:58, 2 July 2007 (PDT)

Just pop in a <br>. I guess the automatic word wrapping bit doesn't recognize hyphens as the equivalent of spaces. --Guppymomma 07:27, 3 July 2007 (PDT)

Prolix Inn Bots

Just leaving a note here, instead of removing them, as it's your test. The current bots as of this posting are not the same as on the page, if you want to remove them ;-) --Tyman 101 19:54, 5 July 2007 (PDT)

User talk:MaxDemian

Ahoy! I'm just curious as to what "clock snafu" you were referring to when you blanked Barrister's warning. Thanks :) -- Thefirstdude (t/c) 02:02, 6 July 2007 (PDT)

Compare the date stamp of the previous edit that added the first warning with the edit history of Maxdemian. --Guppymomma 06:31, 6 July 2007 (PDT)

Organizing

I won't split hairs over something so minor as a single word but I would point out that the top four American-English dictionaries don't even have a listing for "organising."

Oxford http://www.askoxford.com/results/?view=dict&freesearch=organising&branch=13842570&textsearchtype=exact

Merriam-Webster http://mw1.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/organising

Dictionary.com http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/organising

Bartleby.com http://www.bartleby.com/cgi-bin/texis/webinator/sitesearch?FILTER=col61&query=organising

Also, the Wikipedia only redirects to "Organizing" from "Organising"

http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Organising&redirect=no

to

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Organizing

Of course this is understandable due to page duplication and redundancy but still...

It would appear that academia as a whole, at least in the United States, doesn't even recognize "organising" as a word.

19 Color Trinket Template

Heh, and here I had myself halfway through creating the 19 color template parts. Oh well, they can just stay there for a bit and if we need them they're already done. Makes my job much easier. -- Muffynz(t/c) 23:04, 28 September 2007 (PDT)

Also, apparently, my spelling at 2am is very, very bad. Atlant*e*an...Atlant*e*an. Ugg. -- Muffynz(t/c) 23:06, 28 September 2007 (PDT)
And just as my sanity check, I edited and re-uploaded the base image to make sure the spelling of Atlantean was correct. I think I've now fixed all my mistakes. Want me to leave the starters for the 19 color scheme template parts around or just delete them? -- Muffynz(t/c) 23:16, 28 September 2007 (PDT)

thanks! i did not know that. EllieNeo (talk • contribs)

Re: Knarf's January Familiar

I spoke to him last night in game where he said he did not win one in January 2007, only in August 2006. I'll talk with him again reguarding the link you gave me. The original link that was put on the Cobalt familiars page pointed to somewhere else. --Sagacious (talk) 01:52, 27 November 2007 (PST)

Trophys

I uploaded images of all the trophys i specifed previously, the images are all on the Trophys talk page

Cheers! --Instantflash 09:56, 19 January 2008 (PST)

This has been taken care of. --Guppymomma 10:09, 19 January 2008 (PST)

Colorize trinket debugging

The inscription code in {{Colorize trinket}} (Usage) was commented out. What was the problem with it (just wondering) ? --Alfwyn 08:18, 8 March 2008 (PST)

Extnavimg

You know it's been so long since you did some proper editing when you forget that some templates exist and you try and create your own. Cheers! --Piplicus 16:23, 10 March 2008 (PDT)

The New Ocean

Ahoy! I see that ye have already started making templates, etc for the new ocean. I congragulate ye fer that, read the forums quick, eh? Thought according to Artemis's post(http://forums.puzzlepirates.com/community/mvnforum/viewthread?thread=98683), they are not 100% they will be opening up a new ocean called Malachite. Thought the chance of it not being opened is very low, so continue with yer great work. =) --Knowledge13 07:19, 5 May 2008 (PDT)

They're not sure of the date it will be opened, not the name. --Guppymomma 07:25, 5 May 2008 (PDT)
Ahh, yes, whatever. Keep up the good work all... ^^ --Knowledge13 07:26, 5 May 2008 (PDT)

RE:The discussion on YPPedia talk:Color and style

Ok, it seems like a edit conflict could happen anytime, I'll edit the page the minimum I can. --Knowledge13 08:37, 5 May 2008 (PDT)

Nautilus shell

I understand that tradeing isnt important thing but i thought that yppedia should be usuefull for all players. Anyway if u think that now is better - ok np. I'm just graphic and imo now it isnt nice but im new here so maybe it is cause.

Maybe the Compact Trinket Display should reference [[Image:Color-{{{1}}}.png]] - that way you can call it with just {{Compact trinket display|trinketname}}, which seems a bit more intuitive to me. --Belthazar451 16:14, 17 June 2008 (PDT)
On closer inspection, that won't work - the trinket images appear to be divided half-and-half between Colors_trinketname.png and Colour_trinketname.png. I suppose we'll just stick with the template as is, otherwise we'll either have to re-name half the images or have two templates. --Belthazar451 22:21, 18 June 2008 (PDT)

Fixed Width

Have you figured out why some pirate pages are overlapping the navigation bar on the left and some aren't. Haywoodx is an example of a hidden but but still functional navigation bar. -- Haywoodx(t/c) 22:05, 20 June 2008 (PDT)

Huh? I'm confused. Haywoodx looks fine to me. -- Cedarwings (talk) 23:37, 20 June 2008 (PDT)
Again it must be a difference in IE.7 and Firefox browsers. Cue it up in IE and see if you see a problem. I know there is a huge push for people to move to firefox, but as it stands IE is still the most widely used browser and users will encounter a problem.-- Haywoodx(t/c) 05:46, 21 June 2008 (PDT)
Aaaahhh, there it is. I forgot about the pain of using IE. Strange that it appears fine in a preview but as soon as the page is viewed regularly the sidebar is covered over. I'll add it to the list of known bugs. -- Cedarwings (talk) 06:44, 21 June 2008 (PDT)

Wiki upgrade

Something seems to have gone wonko with a whole lot of portrait images, including all the ones I uploaded over the last few hours. Am I going to have to re-upload them all? --Belthazar451 14:22, 2 July 2008 (UTC)

Give it a few hours to see if the system shakes out. In the meantime take a look and see how far back the problem goes. --Fiddler 14:27, 2 July 2008 (UTC)
The earliest one I see in the upload log that doesn't work currently is Image:Pirates-Bulletfire.jpg. Let's see if it works in a bit. (And it starts working again with Image:Pirates-Hoopster.jpg - just noting in case of having to delete/reupload) --Guppymomma 14:36, 2 July 2008 (UTC)
I believe that it is catching up in some random way. Earlier Image:Art-MAWKAWLAW-Fireworks.png didn't work and it works now. --Guppymomma 14:55, 2 July 2008 (UTC)
Seems to be all better now. And on a different note, the cascading protection of Official:Releases prevents non-admins from linkifying the individual release pages. Was this intentional? --Belthazar451 01:20, 3 July 2008 (UTC)

Who do we talk to about MediaWiki issues? Only I notice that gallery displays of small images tends to blow the images up so they look kinda bad. Atlantis#Trinkets is one example. We can use the widths and heights parameters, such as I've done on Gold ore, but that seems kinda clunky, and produces an uneven effect if the image's caption is longer than the image is wide. --Belthazar451 14:10, 3 July 2008 (UTC)

Bring it up in the BK wiki is booched thread in Tech Issues. However, this may be a case where we have to adjust to new defaults of Mediawiki and plan around them. --Fiddler 14:12, 3 July 2008 (UTC)
