Thankyou for participating!

In order to make the Booty or No Booty event run more smoothly without delay, there are several rules, guidelines and procedures to follow for those who are spectating (watching) or participating.

Behaviour and Etiquette

By entering the BoNB house, you agree not to do the following things:

  • Swear/Avoid Chat Filters
  • Spam
  • Shout
  • Ask for jobbers during a blockade.
  • Dockpress
  • Harass people
  • Walk onto the stage (The area where Nobooty and the BoNB player stands)
  • Attempt to hearty anyone and everyone
  • Perform fake bidding (bid what you aren't willing to risk)
  • "Spam" Nobooty in /tells repeatedly
  • Disrupt the flow of the game significantly
  • Be grossly disrespectful (Flatulence, Belching, etc.)
  • Act like an idiot.

If you do break one of these rules, you can expect to be planked and denied access from all future episodes of Booty or No Booty forever.

To sum this all up, Just be nice and polite.

Good grammar, politeness, a sense of humour and other acts of goodwill will be rewarded. What's more, is that it makes the place even nicer!

Before you ask, Booty or No Booty is meant to be fun. These strict measurements are just put in place to weed out people who can't be bothered to read the rules. They don't deserve to play.

Game Overview

Booty or No Booty (BoNB) is a Puzzle Pirates version of Deal or No Deal. BoNB is essentially a game where one person wins a certain prize by picking boxes. There's much more to that, of course. Over the weeks, there are many chances to win golden tickets via tournaments, events, or even contests on the day of the game. If you win one for yourself, you can use it to try and get into the hot seat. Should you get into it, you can claim a mystery box. You then start eliminating other mystery prizes, so you can find out what could be in your box. But beware, regardless of whether your box contains a bandana or familiar, other people are snapping at your ankles, offering you obscene amounts of money to give up your box.

Will you hold your nerve to the end? Will you buckle? Will you regret accepting half a million pieces of eight as your rival walks away with a bundle of squawking devotion (familiar) in their shoulder? Will you be our most famous player ever? This is.. Booty or No Booty!

Before the game

One hour before the game starts, an Oceanmaster or oceanmaster alt will send out a /broadcast across the ocean. This will typically point out when it is starting, what can be won, and a link to this page. On the more heavily-populated oceans, a location will NOT be given. To enter the event on one of the oceans, go to one of the following locations:

The host of the event is Nobooty.

Remember though, the event doesn't start until an hour after the broadcast, and while you are in the house, you are bound to the above behaviour rules. You may want to head off and play poker (in which case you can loan a poker table for the duration of the waiting period) or other parlor games.

Between 5 and 15 minutes before the scheduled event time, a golden ticket may be given out. Nobooty won't be telling how or when, so please don't ask!

Golden ticket lottery

At the start of the show, Nobooty will ask for golden tickets. If you have a golden ticket to hand in, you may trade him and wait for him to get to you. Your golden ticket will only count if it has your name on it, or doesn't have anyone else's name on it. After five minutes, those who have submitted a ticket will be invited to the other side of the garden, where a number of boxes have been set up. One by one, each person who submitted one will get to pick a box and keep it. (A player can have one box for every ticket he submits). Once all the boxes have been given out, you may open it and check what is inside. The presents may contain one of the following things:

Contents Meaning What to do
Bandana You have not won Nothing
Bid ticket You have not won Nothing
Greeting card If it says to shout 'BOOTY', you will be in the hot seat Wait until Nobooty asks for you to shout out 'BOOTY!'
If it says that you've won a refund, you get a refund Wait until Nobooty asks for you to shout 'NO BOOTY!', and then wait until Nobooty trade requests you for the card in exchange for another golden ticket.
Other gift You haven't won, but you won a consolation prize! It depends. Listen to what Nobooty says.

The winner will then be invited onto the stage. Everyone else is now a normal spectator and may bid and try to win a surPRIZE.

Main game

Once the contestant has been chosen, the main game begins!

The contestant will say a little about themselves, introducing you to them, before picking their box (out of 22) for the show. The box that they pick will almost ALWAYS be the box they win at the end of the game (see switcheroo for technicalities). That box will then be put aside.

Nobody knows what's in each box, but this is what they collectively contain:

Tan bandana
5 PoE
Fish skeleton
100 PoE
Short hemp stack
400 PoE
Rum barrel furniture
Stiletto
2,500 PoE
Fancy wardrobe
7,500 PoE
Skull furniture
Flower trinket
Weapon
70,000 PoE
Throne
Full outfit
200,000 PoE
Pig or Turtle
Rare artifact
500,000 PoE
Familiar

Of the 21 remaining prizes, they start to get eliminated.

In the first round, 5 boxes are eliminated. Each box and its contents are then removed. The contents of removed boxes can now no longer be won.

For example, if the player eliminated the familiar on the first box, not only can we deduce that the player's chosen box doesn't contain the familiar, but also that any other unopened boxes do. This means the present is lost for that episode, and nobody will win the familiar.

After 5 boxes have been opened, players will have the chance to bid for the player's chosen box. See the bidding section below for more details.

The aim of the game for the player is to eliminate the blue boxes - the boxes with a low value. If they eliminate low values, they know that their box that they chose will not contain that prize. So the aim is to be left with good prizes, because then the player is guaranteed to win one of them. Remember though, it's plain guessing, so you can't be sure what you're eliminating.

Once an offer has been made, the player can do one of two things:

  • Say booty: They receieve the PoE offered, leave the game, and the box passes on to the successful bidder.
  • Say no booty: The game continues as normal.

This continues for five more rounds, where in each round 3 more boxes are eliminated, leaving 14, 11, 8, 5 and 2 boxes left.

surPRIZES

During certain parts of the main game, occasional "intermissions" are taken for a few minutes. They may be during a round, during the bidding, or just between rounds. They will happen when Nobooty decides, so do not request a surPRIZE, otherwise Nobooty will purposefully push the time back.

Typically, 5 or 6 (or maybe more) boxes of an unrelated colour will be on the board. A task will be declared, such as answering a trivia question, or doing something. The winner of the task (which may not actually be the first one to answer) gets to pick a box and win the contents. Occasionally, extra twists may occur, such as gambling the contents of the box or opting for a blind sum of cash.

Prizes from this section may range from trinkets to clothes to weapons (sword, mug, bludgeon) or even something very rare. Who knows? Sometimes even Nobooty has no clue!

Bidding

After the end of every round, there will be a chance to buy the chosen box off of the current player. This is done in two sections:

  • 1st wave

The 1st wave of bidding is a gauge (estimate) wave/round. When Nobooty says so, you should /tell him how much money you would be willing to pay to buy that box. BIDS ARE IN PoE ONLY; DOUBLOONS, SHIPS, AND ANYTHING ELSE THAT CAN BE SOLD FOR PoE WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.

At the end of about 30 seconds, time will be up. The highest bid in that wave will be announced and the bidding will proceed to the 2nd wave of bidding.

  • 2nd wave

The second wave of bidding is technically the real wave for bids. You should use the top bid in the first wave of bidding as a guess/estimate for how much the others are bidding.

Each 2nd wave of bidding will have a bidding threshold. Bids that come over this, or very close to it, should be sent in a /pay to Nobooty. Bids under that should still come as a /tell. All /paid bids that were not successful will be returned.

After the time is up, the highest bid is determined, the offer made, and it is up to the contestant to offer the infamous choice - booty, or no booty.

Switcheroo

After the sixth round of bidding, the player currently in the hot seat will be asked to open one of two special boxes, usually named aptly, such as "Artemis" & "Demeter", or even "Jelly" & "Jam". One invites the player to swap their box for the other remaining one if they wish. The other has no effect.

If the player is allowed the swap and chooses it, they win the contents of the remaining box. Otherwise, they win the contents of the box that was picked right at the start of the game.
