Edit links
As lovely as this template is, there is an issue when there are headers hidden inside it. Edit links become links for the incorrect section then. This is especially annoying on talk pages. --Guppymomma 20:32, 20 May 2007 (PDT)
Tables
I know there is a clear indication that tables cannot be nested inside this template, but are there any future plans to repair this?

- It's not something that can be repaired by Three Rings or YPPedia admins - it's a conflict between the operation of both and would need to be address by MedaiWiki developers. In the meantime if you need to nest a table inside a showhide you can either use HTML markup to create the table or you can transclude a sub-page inside the showhide. --Fiddler 20:12, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
- Use of {{!}} instead of pipes for the table will work too, but for larger tabes the subpage approach is probably better. --Alfwyn 15:01, 22 February 2011 (UTC)
Derived template specifically for subpage transclusion, with an edit link for that subpage
Zeplin411 brought up some difficulties they were having in editing subpages transcluded within show/hide templates. I was looking into providing an edit link to the subpage. What I've come up with so far would be to include the following text in the title field of the show/hide template:
- [{{fullurl:SUBPAGE NAME|action=edit}} <nowiki>[Edit subpage]]</nowiki>
This provides an edit link for the included subpage, at the cost of some repetition of the SUBPAGE NAME, which would later be put in the content field as {{:SUBPAGE NAME}}. There would be two benefits to creating a derived template:
- Standardizes appearance and location of the subpage edit link
- Saves repetition of the subpage name (minor issue)
Ideally the edit link should be placed next to the show/hide link. I suppose if the contents field were not a subpage, then the edit link could just edit the current section (if that's possible to do). -- Faulkston 19:23, 12 September 2010 (UTC)
- I guess I would prefer the edit link to appear inside the box, not on the title bar. See User:Alfwyn/Sandbox4 for an example. My implementation uses a subpage parameter for this, if that isn't defined the content parameter is shown instead, as usual (without edit link). Perhaps the text should be changed to something like [edit subpage], to make clear it doesn't edit only the first section of the subpage.--Alfwyn 15:22, 22 February 2011 (UTC)
- I combined my approach with the feature to replace the "show" with a "link" for broken skins (those ignoring the .css and .js files that can be changed without server access) in the subpage case. The implementation can be seen in action at User:Alfwyn/Sandbox4. If you get two words on top of each other you might need a force reload for the changed .css to register. Are there objections to use that version? --Alfwyn 06:51, 8 November 2011 (PST)
- I heartily endorse this product and/or service. --Belthazar451 12:35, 9 November 2011 (PST)
- Works for me! Go for it! Chupchup 15:19, 9 November 2011 (PST)
- I'm getting an error about a template being too long when attempting to use the new parameter to transclude subpages in the Miget article. I'll look at the subpages again to see if there's an issue with the wiki coding that's been used. -- Faulkston 20:13, 10 November 2011 (PST)
- That looks to me like another symptom for the issue described at Known bugs. I think just having links in those cases is the best workaround. --Alfwyn 05:28, 28 November 2011 (PST)

Show/hide button broken?
I have seen several pages now with this template but I have been unable to even click it to show what's been programmed into it... Hmm... Gunnerfreak on Cerulean 16:03, 26 September 2016 (UTC)
- Only works while logged into the YPPedia (the main skin doesn't let it work). --Sagacious (talk) 16:27, 26 September 2016 (UTC)
- But I am logged in? O.o| Gunnerfreak on Cerulean 16:50, 26 September 2016 (UTC)
- Go into your preferences and select a different skin from the "appearances" page. Neither of the ones with Puzzle Pirates in their name work properly. (If it were up to me, they'd be removed completely if they can't be fixed. /e shrugs) --Budclare2 19:21, 26 September 2016 (UTC)
- Thanks a bunch, lass. I have confirmed that every other skin types besides the Puzzle Pirate ones work with show/hide template. Wonder who would be able to fix it for those skins... Gunnerfreak on Cerulean 15:54, 27 September 2016 (UTC)
