Activity parameter

(there was also a related discussion on the wiki forums)

Because it's tedious to go and check a flag's activity (which is a subjective measure anyway) and repeat it for 300-odd flags weekly, I suggest a different interpretation of a flag's blockade "activity" - namely whether the flag is regularly blockading or not. Specifically, if a flag has done m blockades in n months, then I say we consider it "active". m and n could be anything - I would suggest something like 1 cade in 2 or 3 months is "active" on the blockade scene.

An advantage of doing it this way is that it only relies on the data on the single blockade history page - meaning we can have a great looking page with accurate data that can be updated each week. Further, the tool I currently use to help me fill in the cade histories could quite easily be upgraded to apply this, since it can already auto-generate the win/loss section.

All things considered, this is quite a nice metric to gauge a flag's blockade activity by. Given the fun and games that would be involved in automating flag lookup, I'd say it compares quite favourably in that it can all be done offline and it's relatively easy to implement.

Would anyone be against me implementing this? --Therobotdude 08:36, 11 May 2014 (PDT)

Edit: To tie in with the above, how about rewording "defunct" to "inactive". --Therobotdude 09:55, 11 May 2014 (PDT)
This seems like an interesting proposal... --Belthazar451 03:03, 12 May 2014 (PDT)
I like the idea, however for Cerulean you'd probably have to make it more like 6-9 months based on how few blockades we have. --Zarchi 19:24, 13 Sept 2014 (PDT)
