8-19-2005: As a note, I thought that a truce could not be declared as long as the blockade notice was up on the board- so if a blockade is made sinking, it's ten days of sinking PvP (3 days to clear the blockade status, then 7 for a truce). Did not want to add as I'd like input and am trying to research this. Thanks. -Demonyaj

It's a minimum of 3 days, and a maximum of 10. If, after three days, both sides agree to a truce, the war is over instantly. If, after three days, only the attacker offers truce, the war is over after another week (automatic safety truce acceptance). Note that in a blockade situation, only the flag that dropped the chest is barred from offering peace. The defender, IIRC, can offer peace immediately. I don't know that it's ever been tested where a defender immediately sued for peace, but the attacker didn't reciprocate. It's my guess (and only a guess) that in that situation, the war would only last 7 days (8 if they offered peace immediately at the end of the blockade) --AtteSmythe
Also, the defender can offer the truce at any time. --Barrister 14:12, 20 August 2005 (PDT)

War and blockades

I had thought, previously, that you couldn't declare war on a flag that was allied to one of your allies (one-tier). However, No Quarter Given just declared war and dropped a chest on Olive, controlled by Hydrophobia, while both flags were allied directly with Valor. Oddness? I'm reminded of Wrasse II and Tinga III here. – Yaten talk 14:54, 19 August 2005 (PDT)

In the case of Wrasse II and Tinga III, the attackers could declare war to start the blockade, but the defenders couldn't reciprocate. One of Cold Steel's allies dropped the Pirates of RoundTable alliance to allow CS to reciprocate, but the Tinga III defenders just made the blockade non-sinking. -- Thunderbird 1:29, 25 August 2005 (PDT)

Crews leaving flag during war

"Crews may not leave a flag while it is at war." As I understand it, a crew may leave a flag during war in one of two ways- 1) They are expelled by the flag's royalty. 2) They accept a flag invite from another flag. However, I'm not certain on this information and I currently have no way of testing it, so it needs confirmation before it's added- 'till then, I've added a 'dubious' tag to the line. --Darkaardvark 21:46, 25 July 2006 (PDT)

Personally, I consider getting an invite to another flag an exploit around the war mechanics, but that's just me. The sentence being there is because the Leave Flag button does not work during war. Also, the expel part doesn't work if it's the crew of the royalty proposing it (and thus, that can't be used if the flag only has 1 crew in it), an error pops up if you try to expel your own crew. --Thunderbird 21:52, 25 July 2006 (PDT)
I can confirm the workarounds, however. Crews can be expelled at wartime, but ships currently at sea appear to retain their war status until the next league point is reached (verify - may be port) --AtteSmythe 22:01, 25 July 2006 (PDT)
Just occoured to me how easy it would be to exploit this system using alt abuse, either having an alt that is royal in a seperate crew in the flag to expel you or having an alt that owns a flag invite you. Perhaps it would be better if they removed the loopholes? - wicked4591 29-06-2007 00:48

War Tips ?

In light of all the people who obviously don't know how to war, would a Wiki entry explaining how to properly conduct a war be of any use? I'd be happy to write it if someone else set it up. I'm not good at wiki setup, but I can write a pretty comprehensive explanation of how to run a war properly, and how not to get a Gold Shanghaid Grand Frigate sunk for being an idiot. Might save us all some grief in the future. -Looseweed 9/26/06

Absolutely. You start it and any number of people will be willing to help format and expand it, including yours truly. I recently added screenshots of how to declare war, but I guess 'how to wage war' slipped my mind. Go for it! --Zava 22:16, 26 September 2006 (PDT)
Done. If you want to relocate it to a stub or something, you'll have to do that yourself. Also, it could stand some clean-up, and some editing for grammar and style. I'm in a bit of a hurry. -Looseweed 9/27/06
Thanks for taking some time to write that up. Somebody'll help clean it up a bit soon. --Guppymomma 19:15, 27 September 2006 (PDT)

Declaring war

If a royalty member of a flag declares war, is it instant or do the other royals have to vote?

It does require a vote. --Zava 16:58, 28 June 2007 (PDT)

votes

how many votes are required to declare onto another flag ?-Kj

The majority of the Royalty, like any other issue I believe. --CaptainDP 06:46, 27 November 2007 (PST)
