Talk:Refer a friend

From YPPedia

Um, I think this has been there for a while. I recall a conversation which involved it, at some point, on the wiki... --Emufarmers 15:20, 20 June 2006 (PDT)

It's been in since before Release 2006-04-26, since that release mentions fixing it. --AtteSmythe 15:34, 20 June 2006 (PDT)
Clever mentions it in the Cobalt/Viridian launch thread, February 2005 --AtteSmythe 15:52, 20 June 2006 (PDT)

Protection

I get the motive behind this, but isn't furniture linked to by the mail too? I mean, if they wanted it to be a protected article, they could have done Official:Furniture, or created an official namespace version of this...I ask only because this page was just created, and could probably use more information. (By the way, there was a part in there about automatically making the referee your hearty, which was replaced with having them join your crew if you're an officer. Does the hearty part apply too, or just the officer part?) Or did a Ringer ask for this page to be protected? --Emufarmers 20:51, 22 June 2006 (PDT)

This page is the main featured link in that email. It will remain protected. If you have a suggestion for a change, you may leave a note here. If there is additional information needed, I'm sure that Thalette, as an employee hired by Three Rings to do the marketing, is perfectly capable of expanding it as needed for marketing purposes. The furniture and clothing pages are ones which are regularly updated with new info and do not detail a special offer. They will remain unprotected. --Guppymomma 05:47, 23 June 2006 (PDT)
That reasoning said - and I thoroughly agree - I would hope that the suggestion of using the Official: namespace in the future is one that's considered. --AtteSmythe 08:54, 23 June 2006 (PDT)
I was actually going to suggest moving it, but then got the PoEmail and figured it's too late ;) Anyhow, Thalette's new and obviously excited about marketing, so I'm sure there will be a wee bit of adjustment & fixing as she settles into the job. I'll ask Eury or another of the wiki involved devs to bring up using the Official namespace instead. --Guppymomma 09:03, 23 June 2006 (PDT)
Yeah, it's cool - certainly not a knock on using it this one time. I just thought that Emufarmer's official namespace suggestion was a good one, and was hoping it didn't get overlooked. Thanks, Guppy. --AtteSmythe 09:06, 23 June 2006 (PDT)
Actually, now that I think about it, it's not too late to move this to the official namespace: We can just leave a redirect in this space. (If someone wants to bring it up with the appropriate person[s].) --Emufarmers 10:39, 22 July 2006 (PDT)

Additional Note

Apparently, you have to be a subscriber or 'doublooner' in order to claim the 500 PoE reward. Might be worth adding this into the article. --Sagacious (talk) 08:06, 5 July 2006 (PDT)

By "doublooner" you just mean a doubloon ocean, right? Not that you actually have to have purchased doubloons? Because I remember getting my poez. :) --Emufarmers 21:47, 5 July 2006 (PDT)
Well, I meant - have purchased doubloons. There has been some talk that non-subs don't get the reward at least. --Sagacious (talk) 21:51, 5 July 2006 (PDT)

Quick fix

Access is spelled incorrectly. Sorry: spelling nutbar alert! --Lizzie 12:59, 20 July 2006 (PDT)

And fixed, thanks! --Zava 13:52, 20 July 2006 (PDT)

Transcluding

I'd suggest transcluding the official page into this one so we can keep the information current. --Clotho 20:08, 26 September 2012 (PDT)

Go for it then. This article is protected due to being linked from official Three Rings sources. Chupchup 16:19, 27 September 2012 (PDT)
