Talk:Influence

From YPPedia

Is the influence correct for sloops?

I went in with 3 pirates (including myself) + 1 swabbie in a (event) blockade and was told I had not enough influence.

Yes, it's been verified numerous times. I haven't had a chance to play around with event blockades, but it's possible one of the configuration options affected your ship. --Barrister 23:16, 25 October 2006 (PDT)

Influence Patterns

Exactly which squares are under the influence of a boat?

Are these correct? These are the squares whose centers are within a distance of the center of the boat's square less than or equal to the influence radius.

Use of Baghlah or Merch Brig...

I have changed the influence patterns to include the Baghlah rather than the Merch Brig, since My guess is that your typically going to be using Baghlah rather than a Merch Brig in a blockade... However this conflicts with the norm of things in terms of how we rank our size of ships (ie Sloop->Cutter->...->Grand Frig) Just wondering if I should leave it this way, or edit the merch brigs back in, as it is more useful this way, but "feels" correct to have the Merch Brigs in it...--Therack 04:50, 25 May 2007 (PDT)

I'm for pragmatism - I prefer the new ships in, both because the new ships are more likely to be used (exception might be the cutter) and because it improves the readability of the graphic in terms of quickly distinguishing ship limits. Anyone using it should either know or be able to quickly find out that the cutter/merchie have the same influence radii as the new ships. ~ Sweetiepiepi
