Captain's Titles

"If a person with a title is promoted to Captain, the title is not shown on their info page, but it remains. If the person later assigns a new captain, their original title returns. This hidden title does show up on the flip side of portraits, however."

I believe this was changed in a fix, allowing both a person's title and rank to appear on their info page. This however, caused some people to appear as "Captain and First Mate of [crew name]" so a later fix allowed for captains to change their own titles. Therefore the quoted above is out of date and could be deleted?

I do believe it is... I'll fix it. --Teeg 19:26, 20 January 2006 (PST)

Captaincy as a separate article?

I'm toying with prepping a Captaincy article, basically to answer the eternal "What does Captaincy entail beyond badge/ship ownership?" and "Should I become a captain?" questions. They seem to be popping up a fair bit on the Forums as issues, so could probably benefit from a centralized article on the subject (Ultimate conclusion would probably be something like "If you have to question if you would be a good captain, it's probably not a good idea to push the button.") The goal isn't fearmongering per se, but my intention by it is to turn people off of the idea of "Being a captain is fun and easy!" Fun, perhaps, but far too many people assume it'll be much easier than it is, or deal with the difficulty by doing a poor job at it. Anyway, I'm ranting. Is it worth compiling? --Teeg 19:26, 20 January 2006 (PST)

You could do it as a tutorial. Make sure to add in info gleaned from the should you start your own crew thread in uhm Parley as that was a very good pile of advice. --Guppymomma 14:03, 21 January 2006 (PST)

WHAT IF there is no captain who decides who the new captain is?

The crew's senior officers (if the crew is Ogliarchic) or the whole crew above pirate (if the crew is Democratic) may vote for a new captain once an officer proposes to promote someone. If the crew is Autocratic, it will automatically become Ogliarchic if left without a captain. --Belthazar451 06:51, 27 June 2008 (PDT)

Navy/Crew Captain

Captain is a Navy rank as well as a Crew rank. Should we have a disambiguation? –-Athenenoctua 02:24, 13 March 2006 (PST)

Seems like too much work to go and change all the captain links on fame and crew pages so it avoids the disambig page. --Sagacious 03:57, 13 March 2006 (PST)

How about add a thingee at the top like on cleaver because the majority of folks searching for this page will be those looking for the crew style of captain? --Guppymomma 05:37, 13 March 2006 (PST)
Yeah that sounds like a good idea. --Sagacious 05:48, 13 March 2006 (PST)

Too many Captain's?

Is it possible for a crew to have 2 captains or even more than 2?......If it is possible can captain A demote /change captain B's title? Oh and will the 2 captains(if it is possible) or more(2+) have to vote if one of them tries to change the articles in an AUTOCRATIC crew?

For now these are my only questions about this and if i have anymore I will add them T rex75 22:22, 22 January 2008 (PST)

A crew can only have one captain. If the current captain of a crew promotes someone else to captain, they will automatically be demoted to senior officer. -- Cedarwings (talk) 03:19, 23 January 2008 (PST)
