Rags

Rags are the most basic pirate clothing, available to all players and the first clothing items a new pirate receives. They are available for males and females and as tops and bottoms. When top and bottom clothing items dust at the end of their life, a set of rags is automatically generated to replace them. Rags are not generated if the pirate has other clothing in their booty to wear; in this case, the old clothing dusts into nothing. Rags can sometimes be purchased from a tailor's rack.

Originally, rags only came in red, blue, white and tan. With release 2005-10-20, rags were generated based on the primary color of the clothing that dusted. When rags of any color dust, they turn into rags of a random starter color (red, blue, white or tan). A few bugs with striped clothing were ironed out in subsequent releases.
