I'm afraid that it is not permitted to link to user pages from an article in the main name space, since there are restrictions on the latter which do not apply to the former. Readers may get confused if they are reading an article in the main space and then go to a user page which doesn't follow the same content guidelines. -- Faulkston 20:52, 25 October 2007 (PDT)

In other words, everybody is forced to read something thats not true about my pirate? Megedeth, annoyed.
