The Sage Macroscopic-Picayune
This serves as a sandbox for planning a Sage newspaper with substantive content (say what now?)- in particular, deciding on sections and topics for a first tentative issue.
Obviously, the name is tentative.
Commentary is encouraged, but please use a parallel section on the talk page to propose ideas. This will let me track the sections I eventually decide to add, which will be limited by editorial time and energy, plus outside input.
A list of proposed sections now follows.
- Hotsheet
- Pick 2-4 major topics from the past cycle to describe in a short paragraph for each
- Forecast
- Pick 1-2 topics that may be significant in the month to come. Include short (anonymous) quotes, and focus on doing more than distilling parley- quite a few major figures prefer to stay out of the forums, so showcase efforts that would otherwise go unnoticed
- Events Calendar
- In chronological order for the month ahead, with forum links. Editor determines listing.
- Charity of the month
- A major event, island restoration, or other project that could benefit from funding or other assistance. Editor's discretion. All "classified ad" fees will go towards this fund.
- Advice column
- Political and high-level commentary; keep to a few paragraphs. (Initial topic ideas: "How to build an alliance", "Island Economy primer", "Beautifying your island with charm", "How Not To Act In The Forums- DUH")
- Interview
- Should be substantive; try to get Ringers on board if possible.
- Advice column 2
- "Life"- Fashion and decorating tips ("Life after black!")
- Recommended Tutorial
- Simply a hyperlink to a useful puzzle tutorial, video, or wiki page of the month
- Classified section
- Limit to 4-5 items. Interesting original services, like Sante's ships, get listed free at editor's discretion; no shop or crew/flag ads accepted (I've never met a constant orders/best prices ad I believe yet); bounty postings cost 25k after a 1wk "cooling off" period; personal classified ads ("ACP, I love you more than Cheddar. Will you wardec me?") 5k each. These prices are very speculative.
