Here be a list of the new features / bug fixes I would most like to see.

For now, it's just a brief summary, but eventually I hope to link to forum posts describing each. They are most definitely listed in order of what I'd like to see most.

  • Enable some means of getting better player input as to how important individual new features and/or bugfixes are. Perhaps some webpage that you have to log in as and it will let you place an importance ranking of 1-10 on each proposed change that gets up there, along with some means of adding new items to that list. Obviously developers will then need to weigh the difficulty of implementing the change, but it will help by giving them a user desirability to work with.
  • Remove or reduce the requirements of Fame to blockade an island. Especially large islands on Midnight, since there are only ~20 Eminent+ flags, and 27 Colonized large islands. That guarantees that there are at least 7 islands held by Celebrated- flags or flags which already hold at least one other large island.
  • Force ships to auto-divvy after half an hour. This stopped happening a long time ago, enabling the exploit to allow captains to simply not divvy, and then after the ship resets, they get 100% of the hold.
  • Fix the every-other-turn LSM exploit.
  • Set up a system to enable hiring of NPPs to float ships for you. Gawds I'm sick of floating. See below for some ideas I've worked on.
  • Allow greenies to count towards brigand/barbarian payout. Or just ditch the "per pirate" portion of the booty collected calculation and base it entirely on how difficult that NPP ship is to defeat.
  • Swap how you can get injured. Those aboard the ship firing the sinking shot should get the chance to be injured, so that the game isn't "rewarding" people for doing extra badly and getting sunk.
  • Fixing the Edit button on the forums would be very nice. Personally I'd like to see a complete forum switch. I've looked at mvnforums and am highly unimpressed at their support. Part of the problem, I'm sure, is the language barrier, but that's only part of the problem with mvn.
  • Reduce the extended alliance restriction on declaring war. My preference is to eliminate it, but at *least* reduce it to 2 instead of the current 3.
  • Bump taxes at Alpha and Epsilon to 50%. Or let players take those two islands.
  • Default blockade jobber pay for a ship should be ON when that option is available. Not wanting it on is virtually unheard of.
  • Make records available to Royals to see details of where all the jobber pay went to, and who got paid how much and when.
  • Allow client-side muting of chat channels such as /fo or certain game messages such as X has jobbed for your crew.
  • Senior Officer chat channel
  • Fix manager orders at shops. There should be a radio button to choose whether you're ordering on behalf of the shop (default) or personal, and if it's personal, you pay just like any customer. If it's shop, the PoE for sales tax comes out of the shop coffers, and the entire rest of the normal cost of the item goes into escrow, just like normal orders.
  • Some kind of special display case to store all those non-tradable trinkets in would be very nice.
  • Find some means to allow a governor to force negotiations with a shopowner to try and reclaim the shop/land.
  • Some method of determining the owner of a ship from within game.
  • Implement a Restore Props button for all scenes with props.
  • Make Inns transfer as with all other government buildings. It's the most public building on the island, and the owning flag can't get it? What the heck?
  • Fix the merchant bots so that it's actually worthwhile to attack them. As it stands now, very rarely will you come away with more than 1 hemp and 2 cowslip after a VERY hardfought battle. Either they should carry some cash along with their goods, or they need to haul more per trip. A minimum of 10 units of any commod, so at least the first ship to attack 'em is guaranteed to get their 10% booty. This would also give more rollercoastering to island economies as commods are shipped in larger quantities more infrequently.
  • Allow managers at the Palace.
  • Is the payout ramp broken for losses? Anecdotal evidence (I know, not very reliable) says that it takes 4 or 5 wins to recover from a single loss.
  • Allow specific industry and/or commodity taxes to be set by the governor.
  • Don't cancel orders that haven't been started when the lights go out at a shop/stall.

Fixed wishlist items. YAY!!! OOO does listen to us! =)

  • View duty reports when not at a puzzle station.
  • In-game implementation of blockade jobber pay. YAY for getting this onto Ice!!! And now onto Midnight! No. I don't care about any other oceans.
  • Alphabetize alliances/wars on flag info page.
  • Fix rumble brawls to make it such that sheer numbers don't have such an overwhelming effect, especially with NPPs. When 4 Able/Dist/Resp players have little difficulty defeating 3 Ult/Leg players, there's something wrong.
  • Fix rumble AI so that able bots don't send near-instas.

Hiring NPP Ship Movers

Yes, this is Yet Another I'm Sick of Floating Warships thread. There are several of them already, but the best one, http://forums.puzzlepirates.com/community/mvnforum/viewthread?thread=13286 , is a couple years old, and lots of changes have happened since then (most notably, the Global Purse, and doubloons, and more than one ocean.

Note: http://forums.puzzlepirates.com/community/mvnforum/viewthread?p=884640#884640 has some really good suggestions in it also by Chavez67.

Primarily, I'm looking for a way to get around *the* most tedious, boring part of this game, and happen to set up another PoE sink in the process. If people would rather spend their time floating, fine, but personally I'd far rather spend PoE to have our flag's warfleet floated for us than spend the bazillion hours it takes to do it by the current methods.

Key points:

  • Ship must start in port.
  • Hold and Booty must both be completely empty. (I'd suggest destroying everything in the hold when it gets moved, but don't want this to turn into a griefing method. Force the pirate to toss everything overboard manually, if they can do so.)
  • Pirate sending ship must be able to chart the course used.
  • Cost is proportional to both size of ship, and number of leagues travelled.
  • It takes ~10 minutes per league point for the ship to get to its destination (slower than floating a ship yourself).
  • When ship arrives, both damage and bilge are completely full.
  • Cannot get to a target island that has you embargoed, or is currently under blockade.

Suggested cost per league point:

  • Sloop 20
  • Cutter 40
  • Merchant Brig 70
  • War Brig 90
  • Merchant Galleon 140
  • War Frigate 170
  • Grand Frigate 280

Thus, for a short trip from Jorvik to Midsummer (to pick a completely random example) it would cost a flag 10 leagues * ((30 frigs * 85 poe) + (30 brigs * 45 poe)) = 78,000 poe to move their warfleet. Whereas for a really long trip from Xi to Midsummer would cost 55 leagues * 3900 = 429,000 poe. Sending just a lone war brig those same distances would cost 900 or 4,950 poe.
