Talk:Skellie Hunters Across Viridian

From YPPedia

Well, I just notified everybody on this list when there were skellies on Havoc, but...Is there anything to keep inactive people off the list? Messaging 60 people was a pain even for me wrists, and only...Perhaps six to eight of them were actually on. --Emufarmers 11:29, 25 February 2006 (EST)

It's really impractical to ask everyone to add and remove themselves every time they log onto the game. --Guppymomma 12:56, 25 February 2006 (PST)
Oh, no, I didn't mean like that: I meant in the longer term; people do leave, after all, and they're not necessarily going to remove themselves when they do so...I guess someone (probably me :P) can just sweep the list every month or so for people who haven't signed in for a long time. --Emufarmers 4:56 PM, 25 February 2006 (EST)

Would it be best to have the names in some sort of a) alphabetical order and b) table? If so, I can do a), but not b) as I don't know enough Wiki formatting yet. --Gloraelin 18:35, 20 January 2006 (PST)

What exactly are you looking for, I'll try to do whatever I can. --pevarnj (t/c) 18:50, 20 January 2006 (PST)
Alternatively, if you'd like to give it a try yourself, take a peek at the coding on Key West attendance for an example of an alphabetized list split into columns inside a table. --Guppymomma 19:01, 20 January 2006 (PST)

This page was irritating me (uber long, with a lot of white space on the side, so I shortened the columns and added more rows. Hope nobody minds. --Gloraelin 00:46, 2 May 2006 (PDT)

Maybe pop a note into that thread about the skellie alert application thingee in case the parser used the old columns in some way. It looks better, thanks for the formatting! --Guppymomma 05:25, 2 May 2006 (PDT)
It looks good, but I think 6 columns is one too many. I wanted to do the same thing to Midnight, but hesitated to split letters as some people seem to have enough problems putting things alphabetically as is. Nice job though. --Fannon 11:03, 2 May 2006 (PDT)

Shall we add a "Last Seen Time" to the page, for the time (via /info) when the skellies were last defeated? (For the time being, I'll add it to this page.) --Poochy 20:56, 7 May 2006 (PDT)

Idea: Add at the top of the page, "If you do not know what skellies are, please DO NOT add your name to the list." Because I just sent a tell to one name on the list (who I will not name), and got the response, "What are skellies?" GAH! --Poochy 23:49, 15 June 2006 (PDT)

I suspect that wouldn't actually help. After all, if they didn't read the introductory paragraphs, they probably wouldn't read the warning either. :-/ Also, feel free to remove the name of the skellie-unaware pirate. --Barrister 01:09, 16 June 2006 (PDT)

It would be nice if someone could edit the skellie header to include Skellie Alert. --Vorky 30 Jan 2007

Skellie Alert

Just check Skellie Alert from Third-Party tools with it will be very easy to tell all skellie hunters about skellies just go and read about it

I was trying to get my name on the list, but it says it's protected. I looked into that and it asys I should post on here. any help? the Pirate name is Burky

Cleanup

I have started the process of in-game lookup of every player listed on this page and removing them from a sandboxed revision I have in my private namespace if their pirate lookup results in player not found. I would like some concensus on how long a member should be absent from logging in before their name is removed as well. I was thinking 6 months...-- Haywoodx(t/c) 11:03, 1 June 2008 (PDT)

I'm thinking something a bit shorter, like three months. I don't think I've ever seen a player come back after three months away, but granted I've probably not seen a very large percentage of the ocean's population. I almost made a start on this myself, but when I found only one player who hadn't logged on in the last week among the first ten, I gave up, hoping to find an easier way to /who one and a half thousand pirates. And they thought sixty was a lot back when the page started. =D I'm thinking of trying to modify the Skellie Alert program linked above, but doing that many /who commands simutaneously might break things. --Belthazar451 16:47, 1 June 2008 (PDT)
I have already started the process on my sandbox for this page. I have found 2 dozen between A-C that are either deleted pirates or havent been on in 6 months. I think 3 months is too short since I personally know plenty that have taken a leave of at least that long and came back; including myself. -- Haywoodx(t/c) 17:11, 1 June 2008 (PDT)
If people DO come back, they can simply re-add their names to the page. In the meantime, though, the list of names on this page is so big that probably a lot of people won't bother using it. If it takes you a second to send a tell to one pirate, then we're talking twenty-five minutes to send a tell to every name on the list. It needs to be pruned quite viciously, or it simply defeats the purpose of having it. --Belthazar451 17:22, 1 June 2008 (PDT)
Then how about a complete wipe. I'd be for that if every 6 months its reset and leave the responsibilty of the people to add their names and know that its wiped on a schedule like in June and Decmeber....just a thought. -- Haywoodx(t/c) 17:35, 1 June 2008 (PDT)

Could somebody add Adrielle to the list plz? I am new at this, and can't seem to work out how... Thanx! =D

Nvm - I worked it out... I'm a bit slow... Ad =)
