Talk:Sage memorization checklist
This page is somewhat a duplicate of {{Map:Sage Ocean}} (Usage). It might still be worth keeping, but it needs to be reformatted for better readability. Also, there's no need to encourage people to make a copy on their userpage. --Barrister 12:37, 20 February 2007 (PST)
- I tend to agree. While I understand that a list of routes may be helpful, what I found more helpful when I memmed Sage was to print out a copy of the map that Barrister mentioned, especially since memming doesn't happen by route, but by point. In other words, while it may be easiest to do one route at a time, the points themselves are the important part. Sashamorning 13:13, 20 February 2007 (PST)
- My reason for making this is that I tend to lose pieces of paper! Having looked for a similar sort of thing on the wiki I failed miserably in finding one and so made one for myself. Yes, while memming is done by point by point, most people tend to mem one route in one sitting, and having done so it is then possible to tick the route off the list, or annotate is by saying something along the lines of "1 point left". As I personally was looking for this almost immediately after having started actively memming, I felt that this was something that was seriously lacking.
- How would you suggest this was improved for readability sake? It is ordered in a perfectly logical fashion going from top left arch to bottom right, then working from top to bottom within each arch.
- Barrister, you are completely correct, this is a complete duplicate of the map, but it is something that I created for my own userspace as it is precisely what I need and in the format that I need it! Maps are slightly more tricky to tick points off in online formats than lists! If anyone else can come up with a better, just as easy to edit, online format then please feel free to make one, I just felt that this was something that was missing from the wiki! --Whitemonkey 13:44, 20 February 2007 (PST)
- It's more useful to do it visually like Yaten has. --Guppymomma 14:46, 20 February 2007 (PST)
- Possibly, but for inexperienced wiki editors (i.e. people more likely to look for a simple checklist) it's far too complex to edit quickly. Plus there was no link to this, so anyone looking for a similar thing a) wouldn't find it easily (and I did try first!) b) be unsure of how to edit it (as editing templates is, for inexperienced editors, not for the faint-hearted!) --Whitemonkey 14:51, 20 February 2007 (PST)
In terms of formatting, I dislike the "(p)" for purchasable charts. I'd rather see an icon next to the route name or maybe have the route name in bold. Also, I don't like the route ordering within archipelagos. In the Gull Archipelago, for example, the first route is Basset-Admiral and the third is Admiral-Wensleydale followed by Admiral-Kent. There should be some sort of ordering, probably alphabetical. --Barrister 15:51, 20 February 2007 (PST)
- There is a sort of ordering if you look at my point a couple up. It's currently ordered from top to bottom and left to right. I changed gull back to the way it should be - Basset Admiral, Basset Wens, Basset Admiral. One further thing I wanted to add was the memmable routes with the navy - is there a list of what navy goes where? --Whitemonkey 22:59, 20 February 2007 (PST)
I've changed (p) with bold, thoughts? Another reason why I didn't alphabetise (which was my first idea) is because I would like to alphabetise them in the order in which they are presented in charts. Anyone got any other ideas? --Whitemonkey 23:09, 20 February 2007 (PST)
- Thanks for adding the bold highlighting. It's a definite improvement. I'm not sure I agree about the chart alphabetization. It's my understand that some charts can be either "Island A - Island B" or "Island B - Island A", although most are the same ordering every time. Another suggestion: Add wiki links for the archipelagos. Also, please use the full names of the islands. --Barrister 14:38, 21 February 2007 (PST)
