Talk:PEAR
From YPPedia
FYI, the "®" symbol means "registered trademark." I have a strong suspicion that PEAR is not, in fact, registered as a trademark. --Barrister 15:34, 4 March 2006 (PST)
- Indeed: I believe it would be acceptable to use one of those little "c"s with a circle around them (I can't copy one from Word onto here, but I think you all know what I'm talking about), since some measure of implied copyright extends to all works...I'm not a scholar of copyright law, though, and I don't know how the GNU license would affect this, with either symbol. I understand the page author's intentions in trying to protect his work, but I don't know if he's allowed to do this, especially since things posted on any wiki are released in some degree...Does anybody else know more about how copyright stuff works? --Emufarmers 16:52, 4 March 2006 (PST)
- I seriously doubt that it's copyrighted either. I suggest that it just be removed when someone goes through and cleans up the formatting. --Guppymomma 16:54, 4 March 2006 (PST)
- Correct. You can't copyright a single word. For that matter, you can't trademark a common word. Microsoft tried and failed to trademark "Windows"; that's why the trademark is "Microsoft Windows". --Barrister 19:35, 4 March 2006 (PST)
- Further to the above, it's now almost impossible to trademark an abbreviation unless it's very obscure. If you were going to trademark anything, it would be the full name, and not the abbreviation. --Icex05 19:44, 4 March 2006 (PST)
- Thank you for letting know about this! I was curious that I could use that ® or © symbol or not, so I just tried to draw attention. Agree to remove that ® sign. --Ozzimendo 21:21, 4 March 2006 (PST)

Category
I've removed the gameplay category, since PEAR is not something that can be clicked on in game. I'm also not sure if the terminology category belongs with this page, but I'm leaving it there just in case.--Zyborg22 09:33, 5 March 2006 (PST)
Tresaure haul
Should It be included? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Garash (talk • contribs)
- As far as I understand the spirit of PEAR, yes, especially since it become a common part of pillaging. --Kamuflaro 01:30, 17 February 2010 (UTC)
New Experience Levels
Is there any adjustment for the new experience levels? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ark123 (talk • contribs)
- I would guess since proficient is below distinguished it can be valued as 0, but the person who inspired this is dormant right now and can't decide. --Kamuflaro 01:30, 17 February 2010 (UTC)
