Talk:Event E2/Proposal captnjay
Just a reminder, for an event to happen in game, it will need to fall within the Terms of Service. I point you to section 6, point 12, of the YPP ToS which says that you shouldnt "reveal personal data about another member--including but not limited to personally identifiable information about the member, administrative role of the member within a game, and information about game characters associated with the member--without the express permission of such member." --Falkenberg 14:28, 13 January 2006 (PST)
Suggestions
Ok, first off, for the purposes of this E2 event, OM's can't assist with judging, so you'll need to make other arrangements for that.
Second, it's been pointed out to you that it's a violation of TOS to have personal identifying information, but that doesn't mean your idea is out the window!!!
Perhaps you could consider a variation, and this wouldn't rely on OM's participation, either. What if you had a group of new characters (you're choice how many, could be 10, could be 25, etc.). Your contestants could guess which one is the real So-and-So. I'll give you an example. Say Bia volunteers to be a special character in your event, and you choose to have 10 total characters. Bia and your other 9 volunteers create a new alt character. You job these characters onto your ship, or invite them to the building where you will be conducting the event. Contestants are then invited, and somehow they must guess which one of the 10 standing before them is really Bia. See? Now, no personal identifying information, but you still have a masquerade. If an OM is not available, you could request any other prominent, well-known individual from your ocean to play that role.
Then it's up to you to flesh out exactly how they can determine who is the "Real Bia". You could do it 20 questions style, all participants taking one turn at a time to ask a yes or no question from any participant. In my head, I picture the 10 alts to be named similar, like "Realbia1, Realbia2, Realbia3" etc. So, on my turn, I could ask, "Realbia number 3. Do you own a familiar?" Realbia3 would reply yes or no, and my turn would be over. This is just a suggestion, there are other methods you can use to divulge clues to your contestants. I'm remembering a game show on Nickelodeon, I believe they were able to keep guessing if the answer was yes, and their turn only ended if they were told no as a response. Or, you could divy out clues to each contestant and somehow have them work together. You could have each contestant as each character 3 questions, but the character will only tell the truth for 2 answers, and will lie for one answer (then competitors have to determine which one is the lie before they can use the clues to determine the identity). I'm sure you can come up with many more ideas.
Bottom line, change the basis for your event so it doesn't violate TOS, but don't give up on it! There are many other things you can do, you have a very workable idea.--Muroni 08:51, 9 February 2006 (PST)
