The three vs. three brawl pits two teams of three against one another in a best two-out-of-three swordfight. Competitors may use the sword of their choice, and may change swords between each game and match. Teams of four are registered, which includes one alternate.

Procedure

  • Qualifying rounds will be organized as randomly-seeded tourneys with a maximum of 32 teams entered in each qualifying event.
  • Each round will be played on a different day over a three-week period.
  • Each round's matches consists of up to three games. The first team to win two games wins the match.
  • Officials will be available for one hour on each day during the event at each of three different times: 8:00, 14:00, and 20:00 (all times Pirate Standard Time).
  • It is up to the competing teams to arrange a mutually beneficial time to meet.
  • Matches may be postponed for up to two days if necessary, but must be fought at least one day before the next round is scheduled to begin.
  • An official must be present at each match.

Rules

  • Competitors must arrive ten minutes prior to their match.
  • Competitors are responsible for supplying their own sword.
  • Teams consist of three primaries and an alternate. Only the four registered members of the team may participate in any match.
  • If a team does not have three members present for a match, they may choose to fight shorthanded in a two vs. three or one vs. three match
  • If no members of a team are present when the match begins, then the other team wins their match by default.
  • If a match cannot be held or rescheduled within the given timeframe, then both teams forfeit their match, and a 'bye' advances to the next round.
  • The top two finishing teams from each of the qualifying rounds -- that is, the two teams in the final match -- will progress to the Olympiad.
