Blakeshaft
Blakeshaft, also known as just Blake, is an officer in the crew Crossbones and a member of the flag Elements of Fear.
History
Blakeshaft appeared on Puzzle Pirates on 19th July 2009 on Fintan Island. He spent his first day learning how to play the various puzzles using the tutorials available. He then spent the next few days in the Fintan Island navy, gaining experience and Pieces of Eight. However, he was generally struggling with the level of work required to gather any substantial amount of money.
Whilst exploring Fintan Island, Blakeshaft walked into the construction yard for Manannansion, which is now constructed. There, he became acquainted with pirates named Guppygirl and Molasses, the governor of Fintan Island and an Independent pirate, respectively. Guppygirl and Molasses tutored Blakeshaft further with information he may have found useful throughout his career in piracy, regarding Crafting Puzzles, crews and flags and the Jobbing tab on the Notice Board.
As a final act of goodwill, Guppygirl told Snort, a Senior Officer in the crew Crossbones, about Blakeshaft. Snort contacted Blakeshaft (via Tell) soon after and invited him to join Crossbones. Blakeshaft accepted the invitation, and left Guppygirl and Molasses to go with Snort to meet the Captain, Bluddybeth.
After meeting, Bluddybeth assisted Blakeshaft further, taking him on a successful flotilla attack. Now with enough Pieces of Eight, Blakeshaft bought a bungalow at Tarzan's Treehouse on Tigerleaf Mountain, and applied for citizenship there, which was almost immediately accepted. Bluddybeth followed Blakeshaft to his new home, bearing gifts of furniture for Blakeshaft to decorate his new acquisition with.
Now loyal to Bluddybeth and the crew, Blakeshaft began taking part in many more crew activities, occasionally speaking to Guppygirl and Molasses to inform them of his progress and convey his thanks.
Blakeshaft stayed in the Cobalt Ocean, gaining experience and Pieces of Eight to further fund his piracy career, and bought a Row House in Coconut Row on Tigerleaf Mountain, sharing it with Jollyjosh.
Towards the end of the summer season, in which Blakeshaft found little time to plunder and pillage under mountains of coursework, Blakeshaft took an extended break from his career in piracy. Whilst still buried under paperwork, Blakeshaft tried to do some honest pirating whenever he could. After this period of hibernation, Blakeshaft returned with newfound vigor. After meeting new crew member Gcfungus, Blakeshaft returned to his pirating norm, whilst trying to get to grips with the new explorers' hall missions and other things.
December 2009, Blake became much more serious about subscribing, and inquired to various of his crew members and his hearties, all of whom recommended subscription.
Much nearer to Christmas, Blake logged on to Puzzle Pirates and noticed things were somewhat different. Navigation puzzles were available, he found new options available in the crew menus and saw that various locked items were now available to purchase. Blake, knowing that he had not yet purchased subscription time, asked to see Bluddybeth and ask her what was happening. The Captain replied by promoting Blake to Officer Rank. Blake (after expressing his thanks and asking many questions) began officer training, playing new puzzles like Navigation and Battle Navigation.
Christmas Day, and presents were being exchanged through Crossbones, and thanks and Christmas cheer were abundant. After exchanging presents with the crew, Bluddybeth invited Blake to her considerably large house on Cormorant Island. After handing the Captain her present, Blake was given his, the Sloop, Grateful Halibut. To date, this is still Blake's first ship.
After a break to contemplate these quick changes in rank, Blake spent Christmas in RL with family. Returning the day after New Year's Day, Blake decided on purchasing full time subscription, committing to the puzzle game indefinitely. You can find Blake currently practicing his Battle Navigation skills, working his way to a skill level where he will be comfortable enough to run pillages.
