History
Barnard Island was originally located on the Hunter Ocean. A rock northwest of a fish skeleton on the northern part of the island reads "This island were fashioned by Waterbug."
This island is probably named for Barnard's Star, which is in turn named for the astronomer Edward Emerson Barnard.
For a short time at the beginning of the Hunter Ocean, Barnard was unwalkable due to rock placement. This was altered on April 24, 2006.
