Guides:

YPPedia flag pages:

Finding flag id's.

For Beginners... First, you will like to find a name of a pirate that is in the flag, there are many methods proven to work but the one that is the "easiest" but slower you use /fwho on the ocean that it is on.

THEN.... type in http://OCEANNAME.puzzlepirates.com/yoweb/pirate.wm?target=PIRATENAME into your address bar, replacing PIRATENAME and OCEANNAME as needed. All the other required fields can be easily filled by looking at the flag page. If you are stuck with anything, just leave me a message on my talk page.

For advanced users... Go to the page Special:Whatlinkshere and enter the flag name into the text box. Then find a flag, pirate, OR crew that links to the flag page. Then go to that page and either click Flag Info, Crew Info, or the ocean name that the flag is on (see Addihockey for example). If you are stuck with anything, just leave me a message on my talk page.

See Template:Infobox flag for the complete infobox.

My little text after the flag infobox is:

'''FLAG NAME''' is a [[flag]] on the [[OCEANNAME Ocean]]. It was founded MONTH DAY, YEAR.

{{flagstub}}

Again replacing FLAG NAME, OCEANNAME, and MONTH DAY, YEAR as needed.

I add the public statement and extended public statement just after the little text but before the flagstub...

Notes:

PLEASE write the article in third person (see wiktionary definition here), if you don't it makes more work for editors and administrators to change it to third person, like all encyclopedia articles are.

If a flag has a portrait, then fill in yes in the |portrait= thing. Then save the page if all required fields are filled, to upload the image you go to the Flag Info option on the flag page (see on Fearless Privateers), save it to your files, go back to the page, click the red link* where the portrait should be and upload the appropriate file. DO NOT forget to attach the appropriate image tag. In this case, {{portrait image}}.

If you are making an article, feel free to use my strategy by copy and pasting the infobox and the text.

* There might be already a file on the YPPedia, if so, check to see if it matches the portrait it currently has. If so, your work is done. =-D If not, then click on the portrait (on the flag page) scroll down, you will see a blue link saying "Upload a new version of this file". Click that link, pick the Destination File, and upload your new version.

That concludes my guide to making a flag page. Fair winds!
