Sivius

Final (1/2/1) ended 17:48 29 May 2006 (UTC)

Sivius (talk • contribs) – I've done some mass edits (template implementation and updating) and other tedious jobs. —Sivius(T/C) 22:48, 21 May 2006 (PDT)

Candidate, please indicate acceptance of the nomination here: Self-nomination, so naturally I'm glad to accept. —Sivius(T/C) 22:50, 21 May 2006 (PDT)

Support

  1. Yarr, so glad you applied; I'd been meaning to nominate you myself one of these days! I've been very impressed with your work as an editor, and wholeheartedly support your nomination. :) --Emufarmers 19:33, 22 May 2006 (PDT)

Oppose

  1. While I think Sivius is very good at some of the more technical aspects of the wiki, such as editing templates and the like, like PTG, I don't feel his content creation is high enough to support adminship. The large bulk of edits are changing a page from one format to the other, or editing one small detail, with little creative content creation. That is, on pages where the content is created, the idea was set in place by someone else more often than not. In short, I don't feel as though I see the initiative that an admin would need. --Fannon 18:18, 28 May 2006 (PDT)
  2. Sorry, but my criteria require major content creation for at least two pages. The battle navigation tactics page is minimally sufficient for one page, but that's still short by one page. --Barrister 22:00, 28 May 2006 (PDT)

Neutral

  1. I don't want to oppose this nomination, because I know Sivius can walk and chew bubblegum. But my Absolutely Gigantic Must-Have No Buts About It admin criteria is... Surprise! Content creation. I don't have a problem with Sivius becoming an admin with his current record and skillset. But I'm not prepared to support the nomination at this point, because while I have a ton of appreciation for the work he does with templates and technical stuff (lord knows he saved me several hours on Temp:Usage), I need to see that content creation before I'm comfortable supporting an admin application. Of course, if you whip out some new stuff of decent quality between now and the deadline, we can certainly discuss flipping my vote to Support. --Ponytailguy 18:00, 24 May 2006 (PDT)

Comments

  • Not to sound goading, but doesn't anybody else want to vote on this? The deadline's tomorrow, and I don't know exactly what happens if there are only two votes at the end of it. (Technically, I suppose it would go through, since there's presently 100% support.) You're running it to the wire, guys. :) --Emufarmers 16:27, 28 May 2006 (PDT)
  • /e shrugs. I don't really see the point in getting yet another admin at this time, but Siv isn't an inappropriate nomination. --Featherfin 17:03, 28 May 2006 (PDT)
    • (My apologies ahead of time if I appear rude, snarky or obnixious)
In reply to "not enough content creation": What I am planning to do is the tedious, and mostly technical work. Content creation isn't so much of a must-have to do that sort of thing, it's more of my goal to keep the wiki running smooth. That said, I'm slightly discouraged by being opposed because I do the "behind the scenes/technical" work. —Sivius(T/C) 14:12, 29 May 2006 (PDT)

Questions for the candidate
A few generic questions to provide guidance for voters:

1. What sysop chores, if any, would you anticipate helping with? (Please read the page about administrators and the administrators' reading list.)
A. I'd probably try to speed up the deletion process a bit and continue on fleshing out articles and YPPedia in general.
2. Of your articles or contributions to YPPedia, are there any about which you are particularly pleased, and why?
A. I'm most happy with the translation of Midnight island templates into Indigo versions and their respective pages, adding the Template:Usage to most templates still needing them and expanding Help:Editing. The simple (yet boring to most) mass edits and expansions are probably my most favorable type.
3. Do you have any content creation you're proud of? (Added by PTG)
A. I have created a large chunk of content for Help:Editing (See the history). Another example would be my content creation starts for Battle navigation tactics.
