User talk:Fannon/archive1

From YPPedia

What's wrong of my pages?

I want to know why you cut all my pieces on Endless Waltz and Ozzimendo, please explain to me, otherwise i will revert them to the previous looking. Ozzimendo 02:27, 9 April 2006 (PST)

Little note on infoboxes

The part that wound up messed up on the SK infobox was actually fine before you edited it ;). The number of islands parameter booches up if the number isn't written out. Also, the island names are supposed to be fully written out (ie. Ostreum Island, not Ostreum). As a hint, if you see a red link that looks similar to the Infobox:flag/1, that means a template parameter in the infobox was probably messed up. Just a FYI :). --Thunderbird 22:15, 25 January 2006 (PST)

Yeah, Zava told me. There was something else wrong before I edited it though, it was extremely wonky looking. But thanks for letting me know again. --Fannon 22:17, 25 January 2006 (PST)

Re: Formatting

Thanks mate - I'm trying my best ;-). I was trying to follow formatting styles I'd seen elsewhere - almost got it right. Hope my editing elsewhere has been ok... --Icex05 16:38, 6 March 2006 (PST)

Feel free to warn 'em too :)

All you need is {{subst:test}} --~~~~ stuck on their user talk page. There's also test2 if it's the second time, test3 for the third strike, and test4 for the fourth. Although if the person is especially troublesome or unresponsive, they'll get blocked earlier than that. Anyhow, if you find you've been warning one a ton of times, just give a yell and an administrator will help with the banning (if they're not already on the case). --Guppymomma 17:00, 6 March 2006 (PST)

Admin request

It says I should poke you here to encourage you to accept my nomination of you for admin status. Consider yourself poked :) --Teeg 17:13, 6 March 2006 (PST)

Welcome

You've been smacked by the magic responsibilities stick a little early, welcome! If you have any questions about the extra functions (there aren't really that many), ask away. Just watch out for misclicking the rollback links, I mean not that I've ever done that or anything ;) --Guppymomma 17:08, 7 March 2006 (PST)

Crew Fixing/Me Spamming Your Talk Page

If you're fixing crew entries from Cobalt and Midnight down, then this could work out very well: I'm working from Viridian and Sage up. You hit 'em high, I'll hit 'em low. :P --Emufarmers 23:41, 7 March 2006 (PST)

Story to Mythology

i see the pettiness continues. so the story is no longer a story but the mythology of the crew and thus encyclopedic in nature. i hope this satisfies. Mugford

Someones beliefs are fact. search mythology in wiki. i bet theres an entry. (by all means tell me if i'm wrong)Mugford

I don't intend to. I don't think they realise you are an admin... --Sagacious 09:49, 8 March 2006 (PST)

Parrots of Vengeance protected

I went ahead and protected Parrots of Vengeance from further editing. Until a consensus is reached on the discussion page, it should remain protected. Once tempers have settled, you can unprotect the page.--Fiddler 09:54, 8 March 2006 (PST)

Pirate article cleanup

As you go through and clean up pirate articles, take a look at YPPedia:Sample pirate page. This neatly explains what User:AtteSmythe had in mind when he developed the format. Adding portrait gallery boxes, if possible, is a great substitute for a portrait and really helps liven up the page (if you're interested in going to that level of detail, that is.)--Fiddler 10:07, 8 March 2006 (PST)

It was more a general note, actually. I remember somebody asking about pirate infoboxes and couldn't remember who it was.--Fiddler 12:13, 8 March 2006 (PST)

Sage Updates

Yeah, alphabetical :) I do that every so often -I know there's been major changes in a bunch of crews/flags, so I figured it was time to sort things out again. I've also got a list here of new (major) flags w/o a page, or those that did something (like blockade Blackthorpe) and haven't got a page to note that on. Not all of them need updates (thankfully) so I suppose that's why it looks a little skippy. --Zava 15:07, 8 March 2006 (PST)

Re: Editing

Urg. I was about to add that sentence in, but you beat me to it with the revert. I need to start editing as a whole rather than in bits. A few of my other edits - I tried to pick out the information and delete the stuff that wasn't needed. But I'm still picking up what type of things can and should be left in, and how they should be arranged. --Sagacious 16:41, 8 March 2006 (PST)

Re: Booched revert

Can you not reverse the revert and try again? --Sagacious 15:35, 16 March 2006 (PST)

Urg - Pain in the neck as there was many minor edits to the code... There must be an easier way than writing the code again. --Sagacious 15:40, 16 March 2006 (PST)

Linkages

Hello! I've been always putting the link in the first instance of the term I want to link. Is this not the case in the infoboxes?  :) --Redbeardsage 12:21, 21 March 2006 (PST)

This is a case of my OCD winning. It looks prettier to link the crew name in the crew list, instead of having the one random crew not linked there. For me anyway. I don't think it's necessarily right or wrong either way. *shrugs* --Fannon 12:22, 21 March 2006 (PST)
It's Fannon's pickyness that makes her a good editor ;-) --Sagacious 12:29, 21 March 2006 (PST)
Not sure, but I reckon she'd be picky about being called a guy, also.  :p --Redbeardsage
And I was to know that how??? lol --Sagacious 12:47, 21 March 2006 (PST)
Her forum avatar is a pretty big hint :p. --Thunderbird 12:50, 21 March 2006 (PST)
But but but I've not seen it... No real clues on the userpage either. I also took Fannon to be a slightly masculine name. My bad anyhow! --Sagacious 12:55, 21 March 2006 (PST)
You could also, you know, look at my portrait page which is linked from my pirate article. Just saying. :P --Fannon 13:07, 21 March 2006 (PST)
I really should thoroughly investigate user sexes before making him/her statements in future...Bad Sagacious - no cookie? --Sagacious 13:10, 21 March 2006 (PST)
No cookie! *chuckle* Maybe Fannon's just keeping secrets from us? (ooo, I better run and hide now)--Zava 14:13, 21 March 2006 (PST)

Saints of the Seven Seas

May I ask what was wrong with my post? Just a simple justification in my talk page would be nice...I don't quite understand what was wrong with it. Cheers. --Blankmetta77 15:18, 3 May 2006 (PDT)

Image Names

On Festrunk and Maquereau, you called the images "Pirate-[name]," rather than "Pirates-[name]." I think whatever you copied the basic template from is slightly out-of-date, so you should probably fix it. :) --Emufarmers 13:34, 13 May 2006 (PDT)

Forgive me...

I haven't quite mastered telepathy yet. If this (policy related to frequent edits of the same article) is common practice and all editors are expected to comply with it, perhaps it should be codified instead of correcting people after they've already erred? It's extremely frustrating to be slapped on the wrist for violating policies that don't palpably exist. --Ponytailguy 08:26, 16 May 2006 (PDT)

Apologetically, politely, and patiently saying "Here's what's problematic, here's why, and here are some tools you can use to prevent it in future" is "Harping"? I didn't tell her she was breaking the wiki and could never ever ever use it again unless she surrenders her first-born child. Just that if she's only making minor edits, there are some very useful tools to prevent what can potentially be a major problem. --Ponytailguy 11:48, 16 May 2006 (PDT)

Hee

Hiya. :P Revision sucks. --Featherfin 13:01, 20 May 2006 (PDT)

Swabbies

Hey, where did you see swabbies with the adjective "Yellow"? I just checked my extensive chat logs, and I've never seen one. Is it new? --Barrister 02:18, 26 June 2006 (PDT)

Which Crew Was That Regarding, Specifically?

I'm not sure which article your comment referred to. If it was A Cutlass Above The Rest, this was not their public statement; they currently only have one crew member, so I believe the change was appropriate as a growth rate of zero over six months would seem to indicate stagnation. If it is another article that I edited in a manner you believe incorrect, please tell me what that article was so I can correct my error or at least be more fully aware of it.--Captain N 10:07, 4 November 2006 (PST)

Thanks for the response. I think my mind completely skimmed over the heading. I know it's been going on auto-pilot for a lot of corrections, which means I should probably sleep again. Thanks. --10:12, 4 November 2006 (PST)

Crew Public Statements and History

Thanks for the comments. My thoughts on Public statement is that I have been cleaning them up a bit. What I do is correct spelling punctuation and grammer and if part of the public statement includes Rules/Promotion Requirements I separate them into seperate sections. My goal has been to make the crew pages relativly standard looking and make sure everything conforms to Wiki standards. I really do not make any substanative changes to the crew's information really it's all formatting and presentation. So my question for Public Statements is am I really pushing it with the way I've been setting up Crew Pages? When it comes down to it Internet Speak drives me crazy. I just think it plain lazy writing to say "plz u join crew u get lots of poez" :P

As for opening blurb, I've be moving itto the end and placeing if it has to do with crew history. I place it in History. I do these things to standarize the page and to encourage mates to include additional history. In my mind it seems inconsistent to leave historical information at the top with the intention of moving it later when it grows. Why not just move it to a section so all the pages have the same look and feel? That being said I'll probably leave a bit more at the top as a brief intro. --Kgarrett1969 05:11, 7 November 2006 (PST)

This Month's Featured Article Contest

Ahoy there. There was a recent discussion on the forums about the lack of administrator involvement with the contest I am running right now. While I don't find it necessary to have all the admins vote for the winner of the competition, I feel if 1 or 2 weighed in it might alleviate some of the apprehensions about this manner of voting. If you happen to have time and would like to cast your vote for this month's featured article winner, I would greatly appreciate it. Template_talk:Featured_article Thanks! --Muffynz 09:41, 26 June 2007 (PDT)

Fact Check

Thoses pages i supposedly defaced are fraudulent. Check some of the facts on them.. this guy is making stuff up. Please if you have time look into it.

"Rank Box"

Hoy mate, I saw yer post on the dicsussion of the infobox-pirate page and here is a helpful template to use inside the infobox:

|custom={{Rank box|title=x|crewtitle=y}} (x=Flag Title, Member, Lord or Monarch, y=Crew title, as in, First Mate, Sailmaster, etc) --Instantflash 17:00, 15 January 2008 (PST)

Please ignore this as I had already dealt with it, I had just forgot to leave a message about it. -- Cedarwings (talk) 18:01, 15 January 2008 (PST)

Hinga rename

After the rename it doesn't show the portrait, my attempt to upload the picture as 'Pirates-Hinga (pirate)' failed - the system changed the name, replacing the space to an underscore. How is this done then (Cleavers page shows it can be done) ? --Alfwyn 15:02, 5 February 2008 (PST)

Thank Ye!

I just wanted to say a quick thanks to you for fixing my Trinket page. It was getting really late last night and I couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong, so I just left it, intending to sort it out this morning. And what do I find when I log on? That you're a genius, and I love you! Thanks again.

Blackstar

Well, mostly I was confused at first because I didn't see the deletion reasons (buried in the source), that's why I did go through them in detail and bothered to add a 'yes' to the discussion of one of the pages at all. About Black Star (Sage): in effect that page was moved away from Black Star, and a page Black Star recreated. Deleting Black Star (Sage) now will delete the editing history of the original page. So for me a slightly better approach would be to move it back to the name Black Star with the content of the current Black Star page. But then again it is not that important to me and probably not worth larger discussions. --Alfwyn 11:37, 15 February 2008 (PST)

Eggs

I found Oceanus Egg in Benavent (Viridian) gallery, Bia in her gallery on Viridian, Cleaver - Cronus (Hunter), Bungleton - Cronus (Midnight), Nemo - Cronus (Malachite). If u can tell me when I should put this info i will do it next time ^^

I am not sure if this is how you send messages, if not please forgive me and delete this.

I realized my mistake, but it was too late. Thanks anyway. Can you help me sort my Pet box, i want to say i have a mala-cat with no name.
