Scribbling

Awww... don't be a hater. I mean, seriously, what else are vanity pages for? It's not like I was vandalizing the page, the true meaning of "scribbling." If I had written something like "EVVERZ 1Z th3 BEST3ST navvvver EVERS!!" I could understand the threats. Besides, Evers knew I put it up there in the first place, and he thought it was cute. You really don't need to threaten to take editing privileges away for what was truly meant as an affectionate gesture. Besides, I could always add it to your page, if you're feeling unloved. ^_^ Sashamorning 06:43, 29 January 2007 (PST)

Floorplan images

I haven't forgotten, just haven't gotten around to it yet as it's a little more complex (aka must use brain) due to the color blindness issue. :) I should have some suggested images within the next week though. --Guppymomma 15:12, 29 January 2007 (PST)

my background contest entry

1st.i would really love to know how to send mensages...so im sorry to comunicate this way. I think that the work i have done with the pictures i sent, should not be considered "unoriginal", you would throw down a lot of great artistict movements that made the comtemporany art as we know it today, what would the Dadaist say about that. I think my entry should be reconcidered, because of my last argument and the lack of the "Reusing game images does not qualify" frase on your contest rules. And i am not doing this for the price...im doing it for the time that i spent on making intas,cuting,pasting,recuting and erasing the litle edges, insted of studing for my geometry exam.OH and i think its a great idea!!:P

See ye soon mate!i would like to have an answer...oh and im alfaiate(dunno how it does not appear)

P.S.- Im sorry again about this way of getting to you, and sorry about some mistakes on my ortography im not from an english language country.

When you posted in my messages about there not being a swabbie ajective called "Rum", I just added that because I was sailing and one of the bots had that ajective. But how it wasnt my first warning I apoligize for the other things I did. Ill avoid editing the yppedia for a while. --Swordblade

Thanks! I was trying to think of a decent name, but couldn't. ^_^ Sashamorning 08:47, 14 February 2007 (PST)

Floor Plans

I'd love to help with the floor plans, but I don't understand the coding. If you could help me with that, I'll try tackling the GF. Sashamorning 11:45, 14 February 2007 (PST)

Take a look at User:Barrister/Sandbox2 for directions. Let me know if you have questions. Good luck! --Barrister 12:29, 14 February 2007 (PST)
Great! One more question... how do you get the room views without someone being there? Is it several images spliced together? Sashamorning 15:06, 14 February 2007 (PST)
Someone else put together the images. I'm not sure what technique was used. Sorry. --Barrister 15:12, 14 February 2007 (PST)

RfA

I'm not sure if you missed the two articles that I practically created on my own, but the Sage memorization checklist was created from scratch and the Template:Map:Opal_Ocean was completely broken and was going to be deleted until I stepped in and spent an hour or so fixing and updating it! These two came to mind as they are two that I have spent a lot of time on recently, but if you like I can trawl through my contributions to see what else I have done in the past. --Whitemonkey (t/c) 22:32, 7 March 2007 (PST)

Imortality/Immortality on Viridian

Hi Barrister. So far I can see these are two different flags, so overwriting one with a redirect is not correct in my opinion. Imortality Immortality Vorky 19:19, 8 March 2007 (PST)

Ah, I was reading too quickly and thought it was saying one was sometimes known as the other. I'll put it back. --Barrister 19:22, 8 March 2007 (PST)
Thanks, and maybe if it isn't clear, clarify it so it is clearer -- Vorky 19:23, 8 March 2007 (PST)
The proper way to clarify is to stick something at the top like Cleaver. Feel free to add that to both pages. --Barrister 19:32, 8 March 2007 (PST)

New Trinkets and My Trinkets Template

So, I know Atte's been away from the game for a bit. I was just wondering if anyone was planning on tackling making up the templates for the new trinkets that were just added with the last release or if I could take a stab at it. From conversations with people and reading a few old threads, I gather it's a basic spot substitution system where you simply take a base trinket (i.e. red/red or blue/blue) and do some mixing and matching with the different parts to create the full color template.

Also, was the information regarding petitioning an OM to get the temporary base trinkets for screenshots accurate? I don't want to go bugging one on duty if that's not how you're supposed to acquire them now. --Muffynz 14:57, 23 March 2007 (PDT)

Feel free to give it a go for the new trinkets. Check with Piplicus on what's the best way to get OM's to give you the base trinket colors. It also tends to be a nice little community involvement project when you ask in tips & tricks for folks to contribute to your chart as well. --Guppymomma 15:18, 23 March 2007 (PDT)

BK Flotilla Icons

Already did 'em :) The bar with all of them is on the flotilla page. I also slurped the map icons without the chart background and uploaded them individually for use on the individual BK pages, but haven't added them yet. I'll see about digging up the crow's nest league point view of them as well. --Guppymomma 07:51, 2 June 2007 (PDT)

Ah! I was looking for them on the individual BK pages.  :-) --Barrister 12:37, 2 June 2007 (PDT)

Azbard trinket(exotic confection)

Check Frikandel page or info on sage oceanb he has a portrait with the trinket i cant upload otherwise i would do it. :) --Gundusalvis

This Month's Featured Article Contest

Ahoy there. There was a recent discussion on the forums about the lack of administrator involvement with the contest I am running right now. While I don't find it necessary to have all the admins vote for the winner of the competition, I feel if 1 or 2 weighed in it might alleviate some of the apprehensions about this manner of voting. If you happen to have time and would like to cast your vote for this month's featured article winner, I would greatly appreciate it. Template_talk:Featured_article Thanks! --Muffynz 09:40, 26 June 2007 (PDT)

Transparent Furniture Background

Ahoy! Thanks for the message! And sure, I would be glad to make the background of the furniture transparent. I will try to do that tomorrow as I am limited to my computer-use because my parents that I was on a little too much. I will edit them in Adobe Photoshop and upload them. I also have a question that Cecidrake did not reply to me with and I hoped you could help me with. Where is the furniture tag? I didn't see it in the Tag Lists.

Thanks for all of the help! You truely are incredible! I will work on those images as well as some others and add the tags. =D

Zombie trophies

Actually, the Zombies' Bane trophy is the only one of the zombie trophies named correctly. See Ceph's response here, and the latest release on Ice. --Fiddler 21:22, 27 October 2007 (PDT)

Yeah, but the wiki version was "Zombies-Bane". The real trophy turns out to be "Zombies' Bane" --Barrister 16:54, 28 October 2007 (PDT)

Portrait Galleries

I noticed that you marked EAC/Portraits with a proposal for deletion. After this issue was discussed, a new policy was created that made allowances for these sort of portrait galleries. As such, I have reverted your proposed deletion. -- Cedarwings (t/c) 23:21, 7 November 2007 (PST)

Jade Monkey

Hey. I put the JM with miscellaneous b/c I didn't think it qualified as a "puzzle." You disagree? Sashamorning 12:50, 14 December 2007 (PST)

Yes, although poker isn't really a "puzzle" any more than Hearts or Spades, but the Ult/#1 trophies are in that same section. Contrast with the Conch or the Map and Brew which don't involve any specific puzzle-playing or game-playing. --Barrister 17:05, 15 December 2007 (PST)

Atleantean

I found another atleantean item ^^

Im not sure if its already uploaded or not but its a Atleantean Seal. The pircure of me holding it in my invatory can be found here. Thanks! --Instantflash 13:28, 9 February 2008 (PST)

Estate lobby

I hadn't realized that there was a difference...there's a few other floorplans that should be D instead of A as well. Oops. --Thunderbird 14:07, 5 March 2008 (PST)

Eggs

Would it be approate in making a page just for eggs and its pictures (not in portraits), becuase people get confuzed when they search the fourniture navigation bar to find the egg that they like. If so, I could create it so it would be a bit more organized than the furniture pages. --Instantflash 13:41, 14 March 2008 (PDT)

An "egg" page would be a good addition. However, please don't remove the eggs from their current locations. --Barrister 13:45, 14 March 2008 (PDT)
Alright, ill go ahead and make the Egg page, but how should I handle the disambig named "Egg"? What should the alternative name be? --Instantflash 13:51, 14 March 2008 (PDT)
How about moving the current disambig page to 'Egg (disambiguation)' ? If there is a dedicated page for eggs the otheruses are probably not that important. --Alfwyn 14:04, 14 March 2008 (PDT)

Trinkets

Just a quick questoin... for the trinkets you uploaded such as "Trinket-Star Medal.png", they already exist under (for example) "Trinket Star Medal.png". So now we have two images of the same thing, so one should be deleated. --Instantflash 12:17, 20 March 2008 (PDT)

Be patient. I'm revamping the entire trinket page to use a template for each trinket. That involves renaming all the trinket images. Until I'm finished, we need both versions. When I'm done, I'll delete the extras. --Barrister 12:21, 20 March 2008 (PDT)

Experience Trophies

I'm reasonably sure (though admittedly not certain) that there are no Pirate/Carouser/Crafter experience trophies. Ljamethyst has the broad trophy in every piracy puzzle, but doesn't have a Broad Pirate trophy. --Belthazar451 14:19, 16 June 2008 (PDT)

For that one, you can put "No trophy". but until it's ruled out on the other puzzles/levels, we should leave it as "No known trophy". --Barrister 12:26, 17 June 2008 (PDT)
I can only imagine how tedious that last edit of yours must have been. =) And the ironic part is that you know as well as I do that we're just going to have to un-do it the moment they release the experience trophies on the production oceans. =Þ --Belthazar451 05:06, 18 June 2008 (PDT)
Yeah, I know it'll change when it comes to the main oceans. That being said, it only took me a few minutes to edit the tables. You want tedious, try the floor plans. ;-) --Barrister 11:14, 18 June 2008 (PDT)
Or adding categories to the map templates. =D On a similar note, considering we can infer with reasonable certainty that the remaining sublime trophies exist, maybe "no trophy seen" or something like that would be a better thing to put in the box than "no known trophy". --Belthazar451 16:03, 18 June 2008 (PDT)
Actually, I kind of like the phrase "no known trophy". It leaves open the possibility that the trophy does not exist at all. --Barrister 16:05, 18 June 2008 (PDT)

Opal pirates

Hi! I was poking through random pages, and came across this one, followed shortly after by one of your comments here. Now, the primary problem with the article was that it was in German, I've translated it (albeit probably poorly) and removed the tag, but I'm still a bit curious as to the policy on keeping it in the first place. I realize that the comments on the talk page are fairly old, but given the policy now of "any pirate may have a page about him or her", does your specification that "English-language pirate articles may be categorized as playing on the Opal Ocean, but only if they also play on English-language oceans" still apply? If so, the page should probably just be deleted. If not, what should be done about the link to the German page? It seems a bit silly having it as a (solitary) see also link, but I'm not sure where would be better. Or should it just be left out entirely, though that seems equally strange? -Birchle 22:02, 25 June 2008 (PDT)

Nevermind, just noticed that several of the edits shortly after creation were by another admin (Amoyer), and since Faulkston has also editted it now to fix one of the few links I didn't check, rather than deleting it, I guess that would indicate that it stays. However, the question about cross-linking with the German YPPedia remains. I keep going through pages here expecting to see the language links on the left like in Wikipedia, is there some way to get a more graceful solution like that, since the [[de:___]] method over there doesn't work here, unsurprisingly? If not, is there some way to code it in, or would that take a complete alteration of the underlying software? -Birchle 21:38, 26 June 2008 (PDT)
Try {{de|pagename}} instead. Not exactly the interlink that you were thinking but it is what is currently used here. -- Cedarwings (talk) 11:01, 27 June 2008 (PDT)

American English

Didn't we decide here that it wasn't relly worth going back and changing the spelling? Though if you really feel like doing it, don't Americans spell the colour as "gray"? =) --Belthazar451 22:59, 3 September 2008 (UTC)

Yes, we decided that. However, I got a wee bit annoyed at the mixed-use of "color" and "colour", sometimes on the same page, and especially on pages about puzzles (c.f., sailing). For what it's worth, we use "grey" because that's the in-game name of the color. That's also the same reason we have sometimes-excessive capitalization on certain furniture items. --Barrister 07:34, 4 September 2008 (UTC)

Rename images

Okay, if you take a look at EAC, you will see that it has multiple misnamed portraits.... I am going to fix them... so I must ask if I should rename them (if at all!) to Image:Flags-EAC.jpg Image:Flags-EAC1.jpg etc... etc... Thanks! --Addison 21:07, 12 October 2008 (UTC)

The Enchanted...

I'd take a look at The Enchanted, it has it's private statement on it and I wasn't sure if I should delete it. --Addison 21:42, 24 October 2008 (UTC)

Serpent colors

I'm not sure where the images come from, but we have Image:Serpent-green-yellow.png and Image:Serpent-indigo-white.png so far. It looks like it's two colored. --Alfwyn 20:22, 26 November 2008 (UTC)

I got the yellow/green one from Greenbones' page on Ice. Since it's a Ringer page, however, we can't trust that that combination will be available for player serpents, though it does (but not necessarily) seem to indicate that it's two-coloured. The indigo/white one is the only one won by players during Halloween. --Belthazar451 20:30, 26 November 2008 (UTC)
I just received confirmation that there are two separate colors used for serpents, much like the karkinos. At the moment, the only player-owned serpent color combo is indigo/white. --Barrister 21:27, 26 November 2008 (UTC)

OceanMaster vs. Ocean Master

It's now showing the in-game help notices as Ocean Master on the production oceans. If you would like a screenshot you can ask me. --Addihockey (talk/contribs) 00:29, 19 December 2008 (UTC)

There's no need for a screenshot. I'm already aware of this. --Barrister 00:49, 19 December 2008 (UTC)

Problem with computer?

Ahoy! Sorry for bugging you :(. I've just finished making the page for Prestige (Sage) and there seems to be a problem with the infobox, do you see the problem as well? How can I fix it? --Addihockey (talk/contribs) 04:39, 21 December 2008 (UTC)

You missed a ]. I fixed it as well as the flagname field. --Barrister 04:48, 21 December 2008 (UTC)

DiamondDust

As far as I know DiamondDust was the correct previous name, and still has a link for that reason. --Alfwyn 23:25, 23 December 2008 (UTC)

Did they have their name changed in-game? I checked yoweb and it's now "Diamond Dust". --Barrister 00:46, 24 December 2008 (UTC)
Well, not sure about it, I was just going by the comment for the move "crew was renamed" and the fact it was linked by the old name. So if there is no contrary evidence, yes I would say it was renamed ingame.--Alfwyn 10:41, 24 December 2008 (UTC)
Feel free to re-add the #redirect. I don't really have enough information to be certain one way or the other. --Barrister 18:23, 26 December 2008 (UTC)

Pet displays?

I was going through and removing misplaced island designer tags, and came across this article... and can't figure out what's wrong with her poor cat that it won't display properly. The only way I managed to get it to show without the half-image, half-word strangeness was if I filled the colors as tabby, tabby, and tan respectively, though I'm not sure if it was actually correctly colored that way or not. Is there just some minor thing that I'm missing, or is there something wonky in the code that it requires three colors even though a cat only has two? Or is it just a problem on my end, for one reason or another? -Birchle 04:30, 6 January 2009 (UTC)

Cats don't have secondary tan, only primary. I fixed it by swapping the colours, but it still needs to be checked whether or not the cat actually is that colour. --Belthazar451 05:00, 6 January 2009 (UTC)

User:Matt121493

Ahoy! I've just warned Matt121493 about the 15 minute rule. Looking at his talk archive I see he was warned 2 times before. Does this call for a block? --Addihockey (talk/contribs) 01:06, 25 January 2009 (UTC)

Wiki map leagues

Hi, I noticed you forced all league points to grey. I found the wiki maps still helpful with the colors even after the new league point updates on the game, because they're kind of hard to see. Was this a decision from OOO or from the player admins? Thanks, Burninat0r 23:39, 6 April 2009 (UTC)

Barrister can answer himself later on but I'm going to point towards his pre-emptive response from late March - http://forums.puzzlepirates.com/community/mvnforum/viewthread?p=1826811#1826811 --Fiddler 23:42, 6 April 2009 (UTC)
I hope something actually comes of trying to get the in-game info onto the wiki, otherwise it will be annoying having to zoom in and look at league points to see how hard they are. I can barely tell the difference myself. Burninat0r 04:30, 7 April 2009 (UTC)
I'm currently working on some ideas, I hope to have something to present later in the week. The first demonstration will be on a map of Ice as that's the first ocean we've managed to get a complete picture of the league difficulty values. --Fiddler 04:57, 7 April 2009 (UTC)
Fiddler summed it up well. The colors on some routes were the opposite of what was revealed by the new in-game league point colors. I share your opinion that the in-game colors are kind of hard to see. But the choice was either turn everything grey, leave wrong information on the wiki, or manually go through and correct every wrong route. We went with choice #1 with #3 to follow up later. --Barrister 20:49, 7 April 2009 (UTC)

Enamels

The enamels were divided into those which could be used on swords (black, blue, green, orange, purple, red, white and yellow) and those that could not (everything else). You seem to have placed all of the new enamels into the top section, even duplicating some that were already in the bottom section. Possibly there's some better way to sort them than how it was before... --Belthazar451 06:23, 14 December 2009 (UTC)

Sorry about that. I was editing from my laptop and failed to scroll down. I'll fix things up if you haven't already. --Barrister 17:59, 14 December 2009 (UTC)

FL Template

Whoa, hold up there a second. The idea with having the "first letter" parameter last in the furniture link template was so that if they ever add string-parsing commands in a later release, I can then simply do away with the second parameter completely without having to touch any of the pages where the template gets used. Putting that paramter first (no matter how much more intuitive it may seem) makes that impossible. (Mind you, I'm somewhat assuming they'll actually add the string-parsing functions like I suggested, but one can hope, right?) --Belthazar451 03:20, 27 December 2009 (UTC)

I'm about to add massive lists of furniture links, and being able to match the initial letter up against the first letter of the furniture's name is important to make sure the right page is linked and alphabetized. (I've already found one page with out-of-order alphabetization.)
I've just finished the conversion of existing pages. I'll hold off on making new links for now. --Barrister 03:26, 27 December 2009 (UTC)
The idea behind using the string-parsing functions is that I'd automatically be able to get the first letter of the furniture name from the one template, without users having to specify. So the user could just type {{fl|bunk}} and the template would automatically go "aha, the first letter is B, I need to link to Furniture (B)". This works fine on wikipedia (specifically, the #sub function) but not here, simply because it hasn't been installed. Like I said though, the addition of this is a long hope at best, but in the off chance it does happen, I don't want to have to go and re-do everything. I could make it ignore the first parameter, yes, but that wouldn't be as pretty. --Belthazar451 03:31, 27 December 2009 (UTC)
I was working on adding links to the furniture items on iron's uses section when I remembered {{fl}} (Usage) probably existed. But it was looking pretty strange to write:

*{{fl|Anchor|A}}
*{{fl|Anvil|A}
*{{fl|Armor with spear|A}
*{{fl|Armor with sword|A}

instead of:

*{{fl|A|Anchor}}
*{{fl|A|Anvil}}
*{{fl|A|Armor with spear}}
*{{fl|A|Armor with sword}}

I definitely see your point about using the string parsing in the future. It's tempting to plan to for that, but the above example really led me to want to use the second format. I'm not sure what our next step should be. --Barrister 03:43, 27 December 2009 (UTC)
That's easy. Catch a Ringer, strap it to a computer, and poke it with a cutlass until it adds functions to the wiki. =Þ Mind you, I still don't think it looks particularly strange, especially if it's only a temporary measure. --Belthazar451 04:02, 27 December 2009 (UTC)
From a coding perspective there is no problem using

*{{fl|A|Anchor}}
*{{fl|A|Anvil}}

now and

*{{fl|Anchor}}
