I like this, but it's a bit large. Can you trim it down a little? --Barrister 23 July 2005 23:35 (PDT)

It looks great to me, plus it follows the Wikipedia infobox rules (300 px width, aligned to the right, bolded title). Making the font size smaller might be an option, though. – Yaten talk 24 July 2005 07:03 (PDT)
Looks fine to me too, but I'll fix the left column to be slightly skinnier than the right one. --Guppymomma 24 July 2005 07:18 (PDT)

I removed the text seemed redundat to me. (That's kind of what I was hinting at above.) Objections? --Barrister 04:09, 8 August 2005 (PDT)

auto-sorting

This won't do the autosorting that we want. We need a way to strip off the front of names that begin with "a", "an", and "the." I don't believe there's a way to do that automatically. I'm going to rollback your changes. --Barrister 14:32, 14 August 2005 (PDT)

How very sad! I'll keep an eye out, but I'm guessing you're right about the no automatic thing. --Guppymomma 14:40, 14 August 2005 (PDT)
It's not a big deal. Everything else gets auto-sorted. So the only ones that need adjusting are the ones that start with those three words. Or the ones that start with -' (ugh). --Barrister 14:56, 14 August 2005 (PDT)

New Business Header Template

Ahoy there, I'm currently in the process of updating all existing pages for buildings on Midnight and creating a new one for buildings without pages. (Yes, all of them.) You can see any progress so far here. To make a long story short, I'd like to explore the possibility of making the building template more specific to include building type as a category. Here's the slight message conversation I've had with barrister on the subject.

Ahoy there! I'm continuing on my update of all the building pages in Midnight. I see that all buldings are categorized by their ocean so all these would be Category:Midnight Ocean buildings. I was wondering, because of the nature of buildings coming in types (apothecary, iron monger, estate agent...) would it be more prudent to slightly alter the infobox template, seen here to something a litte more type specific? For example: [[Category:{{{ocean}}} Ocean {{{type}}} buildings]]. Or perhaps add that tag in addition to the one there so that not only could they bring up the ocean list but the individual type lists as well from the same screen. Just some food for thought. --Muffynz 22:45, 12 June 2006 (PDT)
It's getting close to that time where we should sub-categorize. We need new templates for this, though. There are about 10 different spellings for "iron monger" right now, including "Iron monger", "Iron Monger", "Ironmonger" and "ironmonger". I'd like to have a template that enforced a single spelling and did the categorization at the same time. Further, there's the issue of iron monger bazaars. Do they get categorized as iron mongers, bazaars, both, neither? Before we make any major changes, I think we should have a discussion about revising the business header templates. --Barrister 22:49, 12 June 2006 (PDT)

So here's the discussion about revising this template. Proposed changes are:

  • Alter template to include building type as an additional sub-category to ocean.
  • Re-write template to enforce a specific spelling for infobox information.

Question that needs to be answered:

  • Will we divide up bazaars and shoppes into 2 different categories, 2 sub-categories of the type sub-category, or make no differentiation.

GO!
