Navy on doubloon oceans

I have an alt on Viridian that I'm trying move through the navy. I've puzzled a fair bit, but I'm still at Stowaway. I have a sneaking suspicion that the Ringers changed the navy to require a badge (pirate, perhaps) in order to advance. Can anyone confirm/deny? --Barrister 17:24, 25 November 2005 (PST)

Well, we could always test with a pirate badge. I've got doubloons to spare and would be willing to buy one. --Thunderbird 17:36, 25 November 2005 (PST)
Jenardo just got a bandana from the Navy, and doesn't have any badges at all. --Thunderbird 19:16, 25 November 2005 (PST)
In case further confirmation is useful at this late date, I've only just started playing my Cerulean pirate for the first time in five years. I do not have a subscription/coinscription, but I've moved her up the ranks to Chief Petty Officer in the Byrne Island Navy. She's wearing her striped shirt and knickers proudly. --Vortexae 14:04, 17 January 2013 (PST)

Link to missions?

I was suprised to not find a link to navy missions on this page. Searching the wiki isn't as easy as I'd like.

From the second sentence of the article: "Pirates can take navy missions through the notice boards."--Fiddler 22:57, 15 February 2006 (PST)

Navy requirements

"Some islands have a navy." Is it known what the relevant conditions are? Ruddigore 17:28, 27 February 2006 (PST)

I'm pretty sure the island has to have a palace, but there are likely other requirements as well. --Yaten talk 19:18, 27 February 2006 (PST)
But it doesn't even seem necessary that the island be colonised; I've taken missions with the Dugong navy recently. And for colonised islands, a fort can suffice; Chaparral, an outpost, for example. Just wondering if there's any pattern here. Ruddigore 05:23, 28 February 2006 (PST)
Midnight's an oddball. You won't see that sort of thing on any other ocean. And note the lack of Navigation missions from those islands. --Thunderbird 08:18, 28 February 2006 (PST)
Just saw this. I believe the island have to have a notice board. If I remember correctly, Vernal Equinox (Midnight) did not have a Navy when we colonized it. When the OM's placed a Notice Board on its shore, we got it. -- Angara 13:15, 20 March 2007 (CET)

Navy pay

It seems the inflated navy pay rates are eventually taken to normal levels after an ocean has been running awhile. This is based on Arcturus removing the Viridian specific pay scales (as they're probably the same as the others that have a normalized scheme). Ice is a special case, and Hunter's new so they have different pay rates. --Thunderbird 14:57, 2 May 2006 (PDT)

Seems that Hunter's pay has risen again. Incredible now earns 21poe per league. Didn't get info on the rest of the duty report so I'm not gonna update.--Andi kan 09:09, 4 September 2006 (PDT)
Incred is 21poe, Excellent is 17poe, Good is 12poe. Haven't scored below that, so I have no idea.--Andi kan 06:35, 16 October 2006 (PDT)

Defeat the brigands

I'm fairly sure the payout is 1/5th (rounded-down) of the PoE pillaged, as if booty was split evenly between you and the four bots. —Sivius(T/C) 15:25, 2 May 2006 (PDT)

I received two different percentages on two missions. (Same ocean, a couple days apart.) I'd want some empirical data before putting in any numbers. --Barrister 15:55, 2 May 2006 (PDT)

Travel

I use the navy to travel to other archapellos.I don't get paid,but I get where I want.

Pretty sure navy ships don't travel inter-archipelago, at least not on Sage or Hunter where I play.--Andi kan 07:59, 20 October 2006 (PDT)
They certainly do; try Lincoln-Morannon or Chachapoya-Anegada some time. --Ruddigore 08:53, 20 October 2006 (PDT)

The Missions

What about the requirments of the missions? For example, the gunning mission is only availible after you have narrow Sail, Bilge, and Carp. It would be nice to know the rest of the requirements.

The mission requirements are on a different page that this links to. This page is Mission and is linked to in the first sentence of the article! --Whitemonkey (t/c) 15:43, 6 March 2007 (PST)

Old Navy Links

I removed some broken links to screengrabs of the old navy governor page thingies... anyone have replacements?--Therack 03:34, 9 May 2007 (PDT)

Battle nav mission

Do battles in the battle nav mission contribute to your experience/standing in battle nav? --Azarin 05:13, 11 May 2008 (PDT)

Yes. -- Faulkston 20:50, 5 October 2008 (UTC)

Navy Ranks

I'm just curious if anyone has ever mentioned that the system for navy ranks listed on the page is not strictly right. You don't have to complete any missions to obtain navy rank. If you cancel your missions and just puzzle, your navy rank will go up. I did just test this. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Riku743 (talkcontribs)

Yeah, I see what's going on here. While the article text itself emphasises that it's time taken, someone (probably trying to be helpful) added a new column for number of missions back in May, and noone else caught it. Stripping it off. --Belthazar451 05:06, 29 December 2010 (UTC)

Amount of Overall Duty Reports

Navy Ranks and required time of service (puzzling), which is APPROXIMATE equivalent of the amount of overall Duty Reports [during one or many (even unfinished) Navy missions]:

           * At least "Fine" Duty Reports -> Navy Ranks:

0 -> Stowaway

5 -> Apprentice Sailor

10 -> Sailor

20 -> Petty Officer

43 -> Chief Petty Officer

75 -> Ensign

150 -> Lieutenant

340 -> Lieutenant Commander

740 -> Commander

1500 -> Captain

2250 -> Admiral

I was afraid i have lost the info, so now when i found it i am sharing it here. Set the info in a way you wish. Deltaruler/Gulfstream (It is currently Jul 1, 2017 7:32:00 AM PDT on the Emerald ocean.)
