From YPPedia

I think it's more specific than just a non-outpost. I think the island has to have a commodities market. I'm about 95% sure. --Barrister 08:34, 10 August 2005 (PDT)

Be 100. :) --Guppymomma 08:39, 10 August 2005 (PDT)

Price table

I've got a slightly more updated version of the price table Orsino and I put together on the forums, if someone could explain to me how to make tables here, I'd be happy to throw it up.

Hit edit to see this code

Cell 1 in Row 1 Cell 2 in Row 1
Cell 1 in Row 2 Cell 2 in Row 2

Anything more complex and I'm sure people will come help edit and make your table prettier :) You can also hit edit on the House article to see that table if you want to immediately do something more complex without help. --Guppymomma 23:28, 19 August 2005 (PDT)

I don't have time right now, but the table could use lines to make it easier to read. So maybe change the style to the border collapsey kinda thingamabobber. --Guppymomma 20:55, 21 August 2005 (PDT)

Sorting

The columns should probably be sorted alphabetically. I'd do it myself, but I need to catch a flight in the morning. :-) --Barrister 01:31, 3 September 2005 (PDT)

Good idea, and thanks, I probably should have done it myself, but the chart started out sorted by arch, and I never changed it over.

Almost done

AlpinePirate has almost finished the gem table. There's only 5 empty slots. --Barrister 15:29, 17 January 2006 (PST)

Totally impressive! This reminds me, now that there are no image issues, I should upload the gems as the real names. --Guppymomma 15:49, 17 January 2006 (PST)
Only one left! --AtteSmythe 14:24, 17 February 2006 (PST)

New Ocean gems

Gems are going to be spread to the other oceans soon, if the changes on Ice mean anything. Time to get ready, methinks. --Thunderbird 18:42, 2 April 2007 (PDT)

If anyone has the time and the inclination, this article could use updating along with jade gems and jasper gems. Plus the gem template that's found on this page. I only had time to fix the article names & "rename" the images. --Guppymomma 20:55, 29 May 2007 (PDT)
I quickly updated the gem list. A few thoughts: should we seperate out the viridian and cobalt ocean gems even though they're the same, so that we can colour the header sections appropriately? Should we remove jade and jasper from the other gems section, even though they've actually been used as event gems? --Diamondblade 22:43, 29 May 2007 (PDT)
I propose to remove inhabited outposts from the tables, these islands won't be building markets, and so won't be expected to buy or sell gems. Chupchup 11:42, 27 June 2007 (PDT)

Gem Price Guide

Should the gem price guides be moved to show/hides? Maybe one for each ocean. -- Vorky 15:41, 30 May 2007 (PDT)

It actually might be better to give those each their own subpage as they're pretty large. --Guppymomma 15:44, 30 May 2007 (PDT)

Rolling out the new page now. Sashamorning 11:45, 31 May 2007 (PDT)

The lowest jet gem price on Lima, Terra, and Prolix Purlieu on Viridian are all 100. I have screenshots.-- andrewh23 12:00, 17 August 2009 (PDT)

For which gem? It's already listed that the lowest prices for Jet on Lima, Terra and Prolix is 100 poe. Ditto for Sakejima and Kirin. --Belthazar451 13:08, 17 August 2009 (UTC)
Sorry, I got ahead of myself on that one; I was looking at the Jasper chart for the jet prices.-- andrewh23 2:00, 17 August 2009 (PDT)

Gems do not spawn at outpost islands

I think it has been widely confirmed that gems do not spawn at outpost islands (i.e islands without a market), at least if we look at the gem price guide tables, all of the outposts have unknown data. I myself have been checking outpost islands in Sage since the gem update and nothing. Should we make a note about this and remove outpost islands from tables? If I get a confirmation I'll get right to it.--Cecidrake 22:44, 6 August 2007 (PDT)

Petitioned to an OM. Answer was "gems can be foraged or bought at islands with markets". Cleaning up the tables would be very helpful and reduce the load of this page. Comments anyone? --Cecidrake 10:45, 7 August 2007 (PDT)
I think the only table that doesn't have the non-market islands weeded out is the Hunter one because I just did a dump of the island list into a table for it when I didn't have the time to check for which ones had markets :) Feel free to remove the inappropriate island rows from it. --Guppymomma 11:01, 7 August 2007 (PDT)
Excellent idea. --Chupchup 11:44, 7 August 2007 (PDT)
Done done :). Sage, Viridian and Cobalt, besides Hunter had a bit of trimming too :P. --Cecidrake 11:48, 7 August 2007 (PDT)

Moonstone at hunter

Just discovered that Chachapoya sells moonstones for 660 poe. I have a print screen if ye guys want to check

Lapis on Windward

Just discovered that Tradewinds on Windward Vale on Meridian sells Lapis for 280 poe. Someone can edit the table (I don't know how).

Mass

What is the mass of a gem and I think you should add this infomation here

Rendering issue

At least in Firefox, I'm seeing rendering problems with the Malachite and Midnight tables. The price table overlaps the gem table and all the text jumbles together. I guess the easiest way to fix this is by adding {{clear}} templates. Don't know if that will be ugly. --Chupchup 08:48, 24 May 2008 (PDT)

Looks fine to me using IE, and IE is the one that usually breaks things. I haven't been able to check Firefox, because the computer I normally use is... an ex-parrot. Does the problem occur only with the Malachite and Midnight tables? Malachite has a clear tag to force Midnight down, but for most of the rest, the island table is longer than the gem table, so they don't need it. Aside from that, there doesn't seem to be any code difference between any of the tables. I made the Malachite table by copying the Sage table and changing the table content, but not the code itself, so if Malachite is having a problem, then Sage ought to be as well. --Belthazar451 09:38, 24 May 2008 (PDT)
I can reproduce that with firefox. In case the browser width is too narrow, it will overlap things. IE seems to handle that case a bit better. --Alfwyn 13:43, 17 August 2009 (UTC)
Whoa. This was a year ago - did I seriously not do anything to rectify it then? For that matter, is there anything that can be done, besides sending people out to buy a bigger monitor? --Belthazar451 13:51, 17 August 2009 (UTC)
I guess we were still using the non-stretchy version back then, without the ability to narrow the browser sufficently to cause problems. But that's just a guess - do you know what the hard-coded with in pixles was back then ? --Alfwyn 13:54, 17 August 2009 (UTC)
755px. --Belthazar451 13:55, 17 August 2009 (UTC)

Removal of content

So Brandishwar (talk • contribs) has removed the gem price guide, and in so doing has removed a critical part of the article that I frequently refer to when /greeter questions come up. That question is "Where can I sell <X> gems?" Do you have plans to restore this valuable information, or are you going to keep us guessing now? Chupchup 01:01, 6 June 2011 (UTC)

I reverted it for now - major edits should be discussed first. For one thing, more than just price information got removed. In any case, it's always been my understanding that even with the new gradually-decreasing prices, the minimum price has still been higher the closer you get to the sell point. Do we have any evidence to show that this is no longer the case? --Belthazar451 01:18, 6 June 2011 (UTC)
Looks like that might be the case. Looking at Harmattan Island (Viridian) at a single Jasper whose price hasn't changed from 450 PoE (price shown on the gem chart), while the Jet gems keep going down in price (still above the chart price, though). I could swear the prices have dropped lower, but perhaps that is something that used to be true. And it looks like I was wrong about the starting price for gems -- seems they start at 1,000 PoE and not 900 (saw gems on Swampfen for 994 PoE each). Brandishwar 02:20, 6 June 2011 (UTC)

Updates on Emerald prices etc.

I have updated and/or added prices for gems in Quetzal, Scrimshaw, Maia, among others. Quitex 19:58, 30 March 2012 (PDT)

Special case for Jasper gems on Meridian

Since the ocean merge it is occasionally possible, as Jasper gems are sellable in two archipelagos, for them to spawn at islands within the archipelago where they are bought.

For instance, Jasper gems occasionally spawn at Chelydra Cove, Chrysalis Island, Barracuda Island or Salstraum Rock and can be sold relatively locally.

Whether or not this is a bug is questionable, as the server presumably thinks it is spawming gems in Lacerta for eventual sale in Garnet. It is probably an oversight in the ocean merge process, and a different 'red' gem type, such as Rubies might have been a better choice for one of the affected archipelagos.

Either way, assuming that the situation remains as it is, the 'XXX' figures in the table need to be updated, perhaps with a footnote to the effect of the above. I'll edit this as and when I happen to notice sale prices (and possibly update after I've made a small profit on those gems)—Preceding unsigned comment added by Zarquon4 (talkcontribs) 16:01, 25 September 2012

Confirmed. Bought Jasper at Chelydra Cove/Tortoisesell for 800 on February 13, 2015 10:18 PM, and at Saltstraum Rock/Trading Plaice for 770 on February 13, 2015 10:01 PM. I will replace the 'XXX' figures in the table with these prices. -Vortexae 02:37, 14 February 2015 (PST)

Price updates of data via the YARRG database info

I have posted a forum thread with prices that I could determine from the YARRG database info on dockside market prices. The info in the thread has data that this yppedia article doesn't have, but the yppedia article also has data that mine doesn't. I'm far too lazy to merge the information. Wrs1864b 16:35, 15 May 2015 (PDT)

Just found your note, on the occasion of randomly checking YARRG for places selling Lapis Lazuli. A 10-day-old update found it on Hadrian (Meridian), but there was no row for Hadrian in the Meridian price list, so I've added it. I've used your market prices to fill in the rest of Hadrian's data. (I haven't made a comprehensive attempt at merging all your data yet.) Vortexae 20:47, 27 September 2015 (PDT)
