Category talk:Wiki templates

From YPPedia

I'm not sure what value this category has. All templates are wiki templates and they can be seen browsing the Template namespace. Perhaps it just needs a more specific name? --Barrister 12:29, 2 May 2008 (PDT)

I'd intended it to be a list of templates specifically for the wiki side of things (as in redirects and disambiguations), as opposed to the page content side (such as infoboxes and stub tags). Yes, it's true they can all be viewed using the Templace namespace, but we're talking a couple of thousand templates, here. Basically I'm wanting to collate the commonly-used templates into more easily viewed categories rather than making people wade through the whole namespace to find the exact spelling and usage of some template they want to use. There's been a number of times when I've wanted to use some particular template, but simply could not remember how it was written. My next plan is to categorise the templates that go into making the maps on ocean, archipelago and island pages, though I'm not certain how much that'd be required. --Belthazar451 12:40, 2 May 2008 (PDT)
You need to pick a better name before adding more templates to this category. --Barrister 12:43, 2 May 2008 (PDT)
Disambig templates? --Belthazar451 12:58, 2 May 2008 (PDT)
A "Category:Disambiguation templates" might make sense, although it only covers a few templates. Certainly, some of the ones in this category wouldn't qualify (Oceans-1, Usage, Showhide). I recommend you put together a proposal for what you're trying to accomplish so that others can comment. I suggest posting it to YPPedia talk:Style guide and waiting to see what other editors say. --Barrister 16:25, 2 May 2008 (PDT)
