Istarion
Istarion has been playing on the Hunter Ocean since late 2007, but has perviously played on Hunter, Sage and Cobalt under various names. He is a fun-loving, friendly pirate, who loves puzzling. He is unfortunately very generous, which means he rarely has any PoE to spare for himself. In-game he can usually be found talking to friends or puzzling, and he is also an avid forum reader (although he doesn't often post himself).

Being an avid reader and worshipper of Tolkien, Istarion turned to the Silmarilion when searching for a name. The word "Istri" appealed to him, and after having almost decided on Istrion, he added the "a" at the last minute. According to The Silmarilion, the name Istrion would mean "King of the Wizards".
Istarion has been given many names by various members of his crews and flags, and nobody ever seems quite sure what to call him. Current nicknames include:
- Ist (probably the most common, although he doesn't like it much)
- Ista
- Star (self styled, but caught on because "It's easier to say than Ista")
- Isty
- Ish (coined by Fixation - sources now suggest she was drunk at the time)
- Variously: Mr Pinky, Pink Dude, Pinkyness, Pimpy Pink, and other names suggesting pinkness (possibly due to the fact that he is often seen wearing pink/white clothes in-game)
Puzzling Habits
Istarion has never really concentrated on one particular puzzle, and prefers to devote equal attention to them all. He enjoys gunning, bilging and carpentry, and tries to maintain a Grand-Master and occasionally Legendary standing in all three. However, he finds sailing difficult, and has never acheieved higher than Respected standing. He also enjoys blacksmithing and shipwrightery, and plays poker and spades occasionally.
Pets
Istarion owns two dogs and one cat - but no rat, since he has never completed the mission for this. "Kastanje", a Chestnut/Almond dog, was his first ever pet on an old account, and has remained with him ever since. The name is Dutch for "Chestut". El Perro, the second dog, is Beige/Almond. The cat is named "Besneeuwd", which is Dutch for "Snowy". It is White/White, and can often be seen with Istarion when he is wearing a pink outfit, since white tends to look better with pink than chestnut does...
History
Soon after rejoining the game, Istarion met with some previous good friends including Rockerman and Amg, and joined the crew "Avenism", a fun-loving parodical crew so devoted to worshipping its Captain that they had very little time for anything else. Istarion was promoted to Fleet Officer and later Senior Officer due to his devoted worship of said epitomy of Captainship. During this period, Istarion could often be seen "docktarting" on Quetzal Island with friends from Avenism and other docktart chums including Rachybob, Vivilicious and Decaprio.
After little more than a month in Avenism, Istarion decided it was time for a change, and having made many friends in his flag, My Pants, he decided to make the move to Pants, the founding crew of the flag. He was promoted to Senior Officer because of his previous association with the flag and crew, as they all knew and trusted him. He was later made a Lord of the flag. This was his first real experience of politics, on any ocean, and he enjoyed it immensely for a short while. However, a few mistakes in the management of the flag meant that after a while it wasn't so much fun, and since the flag had no real acheivable goals and no obvious prospects of any kind, Istarion left to join Third Degree Burns - a crew which had previously been in My Pants and left for similar reasons. The crew is currently part of the flag Booty Call, led by Bootyking.
