The fish is one of sixteen bludgeon types used in rumbling. On subscription oceans, this bludgeon may only be used by subscribers.

Unlike most bludgeons, it cannot be purchased at shipyards. Instead, fish are acquired by being aboard a ship when it sinks. The player must stay aboard until he or she receives the message, "The ship has been sunk!" (Note that pirates receiving an injury will not receive a fish at the same time.)

The fish is a very controversial bludgeon. Some people claim that it is the Rumble equivalent of a stick. Others claim that it is one of the strongest bludgeons in the game. Its sprinkle pattern contains 5 groups and 3 colors, which means that it does well if both opponents in a match are trading sprinkle attacks. Unfortunately, it has terrible strikes, and it is difficult to win without using strikes whatsoever. The sprinkle pattern's large group-to-color ratio will cause many people to give up making strikes, which is in the favor of the fish. Unfortunately, some people are very persistent, and will notice that a 5-group sprinkle pattern doesn't slow down their strikes very much.

The strike pattern includes pre-charged balls, which are unlikely to be used in a combo. They are much more likely to drop off the board, or turn into bruises. The fish bludgeon is unique in that it is highly effective against some players, but ineffective against others.
