From YPPedia

actually i do know AS2,I am working on a site a bit for my crew( www.geocties.com/timdc_for_president/nelsontouch.swf),i know the animation is a bit crappy, heck AS2 is completely different. I am also working together in a group for making a RPG game for newgrounds(I am the scripter, storywriter). Anyways I put up a little page([1]), Please take a look at it and tell me wether or not that it is made properly. Friendly greetings, your fellow pirate Timdc.

Can you take another stab at the Synful page? I'm not sure I understand what you wrote, but I don't want to simply revert it. Thanks. --Barrister 21:53, 4 January 2006 (PST)

Sure thing. --Teeg 10:49, 5 January 2006 (PST)

Thanks! That's great. --Barrister 11:56, 5 January 2006 (PST)

E2 entry

Please follow the directions and move your entry to the correct name using your username. Otherwise various things with the template will not work. --Guppymomma 14:15, 12 January 2006 (PST)

Done... although somebody less used to Wiki interaction might have taken that comment totally the wrong way. --Teeg 18:56, 16 January 2006 (PST)

Avatars

Please insert the account name of the avatar artist, not the pirate name. The template automatically creates a link back to the forum profile of the artist. Thanks.--Fiddler 08:54, 17 January 2006 (PST)

I'm curious... was it necessary to correct the artist attributions to add capital letters of all things? The forum doesn't mind either way, and the name without the capital is also technically correct. --Teeg 10:03, 17 January 2006 (PST)
While the forum doesn't care, the wiki does. In case the attribution template gets changed in the future to reference wiki articles, or wiki User: space, the capitals become important. I suppose it's just planning for the future, rather than having to go back and change everything at some later date. --AtteSmythe 10:57, 17 January 2006 (PST)
It also has to do with the way the wiki sorts. It considers lowercase letters completely different than uppercase letters. Keeping them all uppercase allows for everyone starting with an A to be found in the same section rather than having to check both the uppercase A section and the lowercase a section. --Guppymomma 12:07, 17 January 2006 (PST)
Mm, dumb ascii sorts. Saving server load one branch at a time. --AtteSmythe 12:36, 17 January 2006 (PST)

Re: "Existing Tutorials"

Ah, thanks for catching that. I hastily assumed it was just a duplicate article. --Yaten talk 13:02, 1 March 2006 (PST)

Meh, no biggie. I've set up a template and category for them, so it shouldn't be a repeat occurance. Looking into namespaces, too. --Teeg 13:04, 1 March 2006 (PST)
You can just do a fake namespace by naming the article Tutorial Contest Entry:Whatever. A real namespace requires the devs add more to their mediawiki installation (and it took a while to get the Art one added) and since this would only be for this single event, the "fake" route would probably be easiest & fastest considering the deadline. --Guppymomma 14:34, 1 March 2006 (PST)

Two things

One, I must confess that I did indeed blush at seeing your nomination of me. *blushes again*. And two, I like your comments on his page. I've refrained from pointing out mistakes as I didn't want it to look like I was jumping on his case =/. <3 PTG --Fannon 15:22, 7 March 2006 (PST)

You deserve the nomination, dear... look at the vote. It's unanimous so far! I don't know why nobody nominated you before I got to it ;)
And I guess my heart just went out to him. Look up on this page; Guppymomma's first comment, while actually quite businesslike and par for the course, to somebody not used to such terse interactions could have resulted in a very negative reaction. I just didn't like the idea of him trying to bury his mistakes in the History ether, putting a huge black mark on him if he ever does want to apply, when he's got so much potential. (Again, he's shown he can make productive edits, can upload and tag images, and can format pages. It's just that he's a bit over-eager right now.) --Teeg 15:25, 7 March 2006 (PST)

WIP template

Take a look at {{Inuse}} (Usage), {{Inusefor}} (Usage), & {{Inuseuntil}} (Usage). You may want to combine the work you've done with the already existing templates.--Fiddler 19:07, 17 March 2006 (PST)

Hmm? Fair enough, although it is a bit cookie-cutter (I'm not editing, I'm creating), but if that's the way you want it run... --Ponytailguy 19:22, 17 March 2006 (PST)

Rumor

I heard a rumor your an OM alt =P any idea how that started? --32083 11:08, 1 April 2006 (PST)

Blackmail. I'd show you the photos, but what Apollo does to "relax" his horse after long chariot races is probably too vulgar. --Ponytailguy 11:10, 1 April 2006 (PST)

Lol. So is there even a little truth to the story? =P --32083 11:14, 1 April 2006 (PST)

If there was, would I tell you? --Ponytailguy 11:19, 1 April 2006 (PST)

Just tell me Lelantos =P . Lol. --32083 11:28, 1 April 2006 (PST)

Regarding Phade

It might be a good idea to /who somebody before assuming that they are still banned. Phade was actually unbanned at some point, though I don't know when (only reason I noticed is because he's on my hearty list on Viridian and he popped up there briefly after he came back). --Thunderbird 14:54, 21 April 2006 (PDT)

You sure that was actually Phade? The OMs have tricksy ways of logging in as people, after all. You may well be right, but given the HWFO after he was banned and lack of un-HWFO if he was de-banned, I'm still suspicious. --Ponytailguy 15:05, 21 April 2006 (PDT)
I've spoken to Phade recently, and that's still him. :) He had his ban changed to a 1-month tempban after going though the banpleading process. --Zava 15:10, 21 April 2006 (PDT)
Cool beans, daddy-o. --Ponytailguy 15:57, 21 April 2006 (PDT)

Nu blockade

You put the blockade info in the wrong place. Try Template:Current_Midnight_blockades instead. --Barrister 20:38, 23 April 2006 (PDT)

Regarding edit previews, etc

This is kind of my opinion, but 5 edits on a single article, and nothing after, doesn't really qualify as flooding recent changes, and so for me, wouldn't merit a note on a user talk page. We generally reserve giving a heads up to users who appear to be editting multiple articles and show 7 or 8 consecutive edits for all of them. Just wanted to comment in response to your note on Sunny's page, especially since she had used the edit for different sections, and so really could be considered to only have had 2 edits for each one. --Fannon 23:46, 15 May 2006 (PDT)

It's not a policy, and I said it was my opinion. It just saddens me to see people get harped on for their first edit for something that insignificant. If you took it as a wrist slap, then I apologize. I think my point was more that there *is* no policy about previewing, etc, its just something we try to encourage to cut down on edits. And I said that, in my opinion, 5 edits, and 5 edits alone in one single instance, did not merit a note on a talk page. --Fannon 11:41, 16 May 2006 (PDT)

You've been bonked by the power stick

Try not to use your powers for evil or we'll sick the wiki OM on you. ;) --Guppymomma 13:30, 19 May 2006 (PDT)

SO vanity purges

ArthurNZ already left me a note on my talk page that it was ok to delete the SO pages he made - he explained he didn't know they weren't allowed. Possibly blank yer message to him and just erase them anyway. His efforts making those pages are compensated from the work on the pages that are allowed. --Sagacious (talk) 09:00, 20 May 2006 (PDT)

Trashable Familiars?

Where'd that come from? I just looked at my octo again and I can't trash it. Asked a monkey owner as well, and he doesnt have the option. Parrot thang? --Zava 09:28, 20 May 2006 (PDT)

Hmm? I remember Shur saying something to that extent. Yay for incorrect hearsay! (Will be fixed if you haven't already.) --Ponytailguy 10:02, 20 May 2006 (PDT)

Deletions

You know, you can delete the stuff you mark as CSD ;). If you booch it, it can be undone (well, except for actual images). --Thunderbird 21:54, 20 May 2006 (PDT)

User:Jlp09550

Teeg, you just moved this page into a talk page, which makes sense. However, the player portrait template has the Sage ocean pirate category tag in it, so I can't remove it from the page (to be consistent that talk pages don't get categorized). Is there a "generic" portrait template that can be used in this case? --Demonyaj 11:28, 26 May 2006 (PDT)

Template:User portraits *cough* —Sivius(T/C) 11:29, 26 May 2006 (PDT)

No worry- it's just that the pirate category tag is welded into one of the templates, and, seeing as I'm template hamhanded (i.e., I need time to fudge about in the sandbox before I edit templated pages of almost any sort), I was wondering if there was a way to uncat the user page. I'd honestly love to try to fix it myself, because I know I can always revert and unbreak the page.  :) --Demonyaj 11:45, 26 May 2006 (PDT)

Building themes

I'm not sure I like the italics for the building themes. Any special reason for them? --Barrister 15:55, 26 May 2006 (PDT)

FYI, I'm aware that I glossed over some of the island designers and shanty jockies. Feel free to tag the ones you think I missed. --Barrister 19:59, 30 May 2006 (PDT)

Thanks >.<

Why do you have to keep waving the protection stick? *insert frustration*. Cause it got locked I couldn't preview my edithattookme15minutes, nor retrieve it. :-/ </slight rant> Wouldn't a talk page message have done to get the persistant editors attention? --Sagacious (talk) 08:01, 1 June 2006 (PDT)

Yes you were probably doing yer job, but wouldn't it have been worth trying the talk page message first and then protect if it gets ignored? --Sagacious (talk) 08:04, 1 June 2006 (PDT)

Name References

How do you like to be referred to in the third person on the wiki? Ponytailguy, Teeg, PTG, or PeeTeeGee? (Or whatever else people've come up with. :P) --Emufarmers 20:29, 1 June 2006 (PDT)

Deletion?

Please always fill out a reason when you delete a page. There was a wee bit o' information there and it would have been better to just tag it for discussion before doing deleting. --Guppymomma 17:48, 2 June 2006 (PDT)

Number o' articles

Just FYI, if you want the overall count of articles, it's on Special:Statistics. That number on the main page excludes any short articles, of which we obviously have a tonnage, among other sorts of articles. --Guppymomma 22:19, 3 June 2006 (PDT)

Huh. That's a little weird... - I used the edit section bit, so didn't check the rest was still there... Thanks for fixing it :-) --Nicksterv (t/c) 10:06, 10 June 2006 (PDT)

Pirate -> User Page

When you move an article from a regular page to the user namespace, don't forget to switch out hte portrait templates to keep it from categorizing it as a pirate page. :) (Although the darn user portrait template is pretty hard to find; I'm going to add a link to the style guide.) --19:11, 10 June 2006 (PDT)

Current time & vote totals

Just FYI, use the ~~~~~ instead to stamp with the time/date when you update totals. Currenttime always shows the current current time, not the current time at that editing time ;) Next, how much wood can a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood? --Guppymomma 08:41, 12 June 2006 (PDT)

Y!PP Elom

This is interesting. Someone pointed me to your initial plans. About 20 months ago, I wrote up a game of Y!PP mole, getting most of the way. Since then, it has been shelved and forgotten about. If you needed any help devising events, I could blow the dust off the Word document. I also had a few (not many, mind you) ideas for gameplay and gameflow. Let me know if you really want to press on with the event. --Pip(t|c|p) 12:01, 16 June 2006 (PDT)

Screen shots

Ahoy! I am sorry to have made so many pages before readin my messages. I tried to press "alt" to get rid of the enter sign, but that only made chat transparent. I really want to fix up my pages and get them to higher quality, but i have been blocked from editing.. i think. If i promise to change the *.JPG to *.PNG, clear all sizes and prices from my bazaar pages, and make my pages higher quality, may i please be un-blocked to do so? Thank Ye, 1472000

You have been unblocked... I'll check the logs again, but I manually unblocked you about two minutes after the block was started. --Ponytailguy 09:14, 19 June 2006 (PDT)

Greenie spawning

Did you poke Eurydice as you mentioned in Talk:Greenie? I'm thinking of starting a GD thread in response to [2], but want to be sure of the facts first. Ruddigore 07:36, 4 July 2006 (PDT)

I believe that this may be one of the topics that they either don't know or just aren't allowed to reveal the secret behind the magic trick. --Guppymomma 07:48, 4 July 2006 (PDT)
/em nods... while I haven't been told "We don't want you publishing stuff about that, even conjecture" (Which is what they've said on occasion), I haven't been told much else either. You might want to poke them yourself before pursuing it. --Ponytailguy 08:44, 4 July 2006 (PDT)

Should I start working on the Bilging page that explains my own technique ?

Since it does work and quite good once I'm all set, it's incredible all the way home,so a question pops up: Should I or should I not work on the page?

Hope to recieve a nice push in The back and a salty wind trough me sails.

-Yer Fellow Pirate Timdc-

Thank ye mate :).

Sorry mate.

Sorry bout what you said mate, the page said "Arr! This article be a stub. Ye can help YPPedia by expanding it. " so i tought i might help, but i didnt lol, sorry.

CSD and PD for Ship page

Ah, I would have tagged it CSD but I really didn't know if should be considering I've never seen anything against ship articles (or for them for that matter) but it was still pretty much useless so I gave it a PD --Angelbeaver (talk) 10:14, 26 July 2006 (PDT)

Re:Edits

I don't believe that she consulted any more than 1 editor about it. And it's obvious than the Wiki OM would back admin - since you seem to be in touch alot - having little convos behind the scenes etc. Because that's what a community does, right? Talk in private... Just remember that on YPPedia we are all volunteers and therefore are all equal. May I just draw yer attention to the fact I did nothing wrong with the edit in question that was quoted on my talk page as a 'public complaint'. Go check the facts before assuming that she was right in banning me. --Sagacious (talk) 16:36, 11 August 2006 (PDT)

For your information, I emailed support and it was a complete waste of time. It is clearly not their department to deal with YPPedia issues. I'd really love to know how I can be accused of doing wrong, by reverting some messy, half finished and inaccurate edits - 28 minutes after they were made (past the 15min that others have told me) and the article appeared abandoned. I was just doing what editors do and I got unfairly punished because some new editor couldn't hack the fact someone else changed the article they were working on. They could have used a template, or at least used edit notes! I don't believe there is a conspiracy - but I strongly believe that far too much isn't discussed in public that should be - and that I am kept in the dark about alot of things concerning me. --Sagacious (talk) 17:52, 11 August 2006 (PDT)

Importing Flash .swf files in a Wiki page

Could it be possible to import an .swf file in a wiki page? It could help me out a lot, since I could make (interactive!?)clips of my personal style of bilging.

Yer fellow pirate,Timdc

Hearts Tourney

Sorry, I had no idea that using the wiki to track scores would be disruptive. We used the wiki because there are multiple people updating the same page, and we tracked changes in case of version conflict. Is there a way to track changes without admins getting alerts?--Boothook 13:50, 2 September 2006 (PDT)

Page

Ya, Evil and I had a discussion about what I changed and so I changed it back. I do feel what is listed there is relevant to my pirate, as it explains my actions in the recent past. I am fairly certain that Evil is ok with the page right now, what was changed was done so at a bad moment. If you still feel there is a problem, let me know and I will talk to her and get her advice and then clean it up.

CSD tip

I took a look regarding your message, and I'm assuming that CSD= Candidate for Speedy Deletion? Thanks for pointing that out- I'm new enough to wikis that I often take a lower-level, talk-page approach without knowing the appropriate tags to use. Always feel free to point out if I'm missing the obvious- I appreciate it. --Pauling 12:51, 24 September 2006 (PDT)

You mean to tell me, that a little tiny byline at the bottom of everyone's articles takes up half the space on the enclyclopedia? -_- And who are you to have the audacity to tell me to move sites? Yea, well I'm pretty much done talking to you and I'm here to stay. --Cammymylove 22:54, 10 October 2006 (PDT)

Unwanted Repetition

What did I just say? Hmm? Why can't you understand? I said "I'm done talking to you." and, "I'm not leaving." I rest my case and for the sake of my patience, leave my message page alone. --Cammymylove 18:55, 11 October 2006 (PDT)

Pirate template page

Hoy PTG, I'm wondering where the template for pirate pages is (i.e. the page set up as an example for people to copy)? I know it exists somewhere but I'm not sure where to look. I want to send someone who has recently created a page to look at it and edit their current page to look like it more. Cheers in advance. --Whitemonkey 23:06, 9 November 2006 (PST)

Yeah, I meant the sample page. Cheers! --Whitemonkey 23:51, 10 November 2006 (PST)

Regarding Ship Pages

While I would agree that most ships are not worthy of individual pages, it seems to me that some ships -- for example, an especially elaborate grand frigate decked out for use as a casino or such, might be worthy of an individual page. Are there exceptions for exceptionally outstanding ships that are outstanding for their own nature, not their owners, in any cases, or is this a blanket policy? --Captain N 22:54, 11 November 2006 (PST)

If your comment regarding personal property is so, then shouldn't Lovestruck_Leviathan also be deleted? Regardless of if it was an OM ship, it was a personal ship used for impersonal purposes. While the OM-status might place upon it more distinction than some of the more outstanding ships I've been on, it was definitely less unique than those ships; it was definitely no less personal property than them. Just because an OM can whip it up doesn't make it any less "theirs". Is this interpretation incorrect? --Captain N 13:47, 12 November 2006 (PST)
The Lovestruck Leviathan was owned and managed by the Ocean Masters for use by all players. --Barrister 15:39, 12 November 2006 (PST)

Author's Author Deathmatch

Re: user: pages

I left that message in User:Gunnermooch both for him an anyone who might want to see the content of that page. Additionally I know Gunnermooch is a well known pirate so it would be nice to have his pirate page as such since now a search for Gunnermooch would prolly turn out nil. --Cecidrake 23:23, 29 December 2006 (PST)

Would yer mind taking a look at the basic text layout for a bilging guide?

I just finished the text skeleton of the guide, but I would appreciate a comment on the style it's written with, things I should add(images are still being made with the screen capture, If I can i'll try to see if i can code a small minigame that imitates bilge, but doesn't cost yer standing upgrade or downgrade,as neither would it have stops in between.) Hope it looks allright(And i don't think a page is made for this type of bilging, as far as i can tell). url is: bilging guide example. Cheers, Timdc

Problem with renamed crew

Ahoy Ptg! Didn't know who to ask. Pls feel free to direct me to someone else if you haven't the time. I came across the following problem. The Sage crew Caustic Affliction has recently been renamed to Headless Doubloon. First problem i have and that is easy to solve is how to change the article's names. Guess a regular move would work. The second problem is that a crew named Headless Doubloon existed in Sage a long time ago. It didn't have a wiki page but several pirate articles like mine (Cecidrake) have a red link to it. Also the article about the dormant crew Power of Moonlight. So can you think of any way around this to differentiate both pages?. Ty in advance for your help! --Cecidrake 13:17, 15 March 2007 (PDT)

Ty for moving page and adding comments. What you wrote in the Story part is quite accurate so don't think the cleanup tag is necessary. Anyways I'll contact some members of he crew to see if they want to add/change anything. Thanks again :) --Cecidrake 14:25, 15 March 2007 (PDT)

Beyond the Sea

I thought it was standard practice when two or more crews/flags shared the same name to move the existing one to a page that has the ocean name in brackets, and to create a disambiguation page under the original title? That's what I did, but you undid it all, why? -- Vorky 15:56, 29 March 2007 (PDT)

It being standard practice to create disambig pages to differentiate between two terms is news to me... to be honest, that just seems to serve to separate people from information rather than actually disambiguate. --Ponytailguy 16:01, 29 March 2007 (PDT)
See Article_Names -- Vorky 16:05, 29 March 2007 (PDT)
That's tenuous at best, and hasn't been how I've ever seen things done here in past. If there were four or five crews with claims to the name, a disambiguation page would be appropriate. With two, that's just bureaucracy. --Ponytailguy 16:08, 29 March 2007 (PDT)
Hardly tenuous, for example Scuppering_Seven_Seas is just one of many examples to which this has happened, as well as many more. I've seen Faulkston do this sort of disambiguation many times. -- Vorky 16:10, 29 March 2007 (PDT)
You've got examples, so have I. --Ponytailguy 16:11, 29 March 2007 (PDT)

So what I'm asking is if ye could : contact the authors of the guides or anyone else with a big knowledge and skill who is willing to make a few screen video's and some explanation and if possible help a bit yourself, it's just a proposal, I'm not going to be mad if you can nay help.

I'll work on the flash part, or if someone else could help along it would be nice :)
