Thanks for fixing mt ESL. You rock <3 Quitex 07:26, 8 April 2012 (PDT)

Eh, there was nothing particularly wrong with it, I just thought it could flow a bit better. =) --Belthazar451 14:12, 8 April 2012 (PDT)

Fixing My mistakes

thanks a ton for fixing The Colletive Crew page i tried to figure out what i did wrong but it didnt work. Once again thanks a ton=)

Thanks for the note. :) Getting used to how this works and all. -Sharuka

Mad Penguin

Very fair, I do not admit I know everything about such things, I don't admit I know heaps, lol. Thankyou for correcting me and expanding my knowledge on the subject.

Kakraphoon

Cheers for sorting all that out, I was going to get back to it and sort it out. It was the winning entry in a competition I ran, I will request better spelling next time. I did only post it in that state due to having someone in the event thread starting to make a fuss regarding it. Once again, thank you! --Fearlessphil 16:13, 26 April 2008 (PDT)

It's no problem. I just get a little bugged by things like bad spelling and grammar. =) --Belthazar451 09:18, 26 April 2008 (PDT)

Crew Articles/Public Statements

Ahoy! Just wanted to let you know that on crew and flag pages, information contained in sections that are direct copies of the crew/flag's public statements found on their yoweb page are to remain as they were found, even if it contains spelling mistakes. The effort to improve the Yppedia is appreciated, but this is one spot where things are left as they were found, whether right or wrong. The exception to this would of course be anything that went against the Terms of Service. Fair winds! -- Cedarwings (talk) 11:26, 29 April 2008 (PDT)

Okies, I'll keep that in mind. --Belthazar451 11:31, 29 April 2008 (PDT)

User pages

Another thing I just came across, user pages are not subject to most of the rules regarding articles that are in the main space. An user has the right to do just about anything to the pages within their user space without the interference of any other editor. As such, I reverted the changes you made to User:Chinawina. -- Cedarwings (talk) 11:36, 29 April 2008 (PDT)

That's true, yes, but I'm getting the distict impression that the account is being used by more than one person. This is suggested to me by the fact that Chinawina's vandalism of Ben is interspersed by constructive edits, also by Chinawina. With that in mind, I had felt that it'd be better if the User:Chinawina page actually had some sort of real content on it. I suppose it was a little presumptuous of me, hey? --Belthazar451 11:40, 29 April 2008 (PDT)
Similarly, if a user wishes to create a page for their pirate in user space does not mean that it needs to be moved to main space. I'm going to leave Robunmas where it is right now, but there are a number of reasons we do not touch any pages in user space, even if it is a page about a pirate. In future please do not touch user pages. -- Cedarwings (talk) 10:57, 30 April 2008 (PDT)
Ok, stay away from User namespace - aye aye, Cap'n, Sir, Master. Only trying to help. --Belthazar451 17:10, 30 April 2008 (PDT)

Opal

The intent of Opal articles on the English YPPedia is to be a resource for English users who venture over to Opal. Since English users see the word archipelago, please leave it that way across the wiki. Thanks. --Fiddler 09:16, 1 May 2008 (PDT)

Aye, I realised that shortly after I started shuffling things around, and I feel a right moron for not realising that sooner. Maybe I should quit this whole Wiki business before I insert my foot even further into my mouth. =) --Belthazar451 09:18, 1 May 2008 (PDT)
Nah. With the proper sauce even foot is quite delectable. --Fiddler 09:23, 1 May 2008 (PDT)

Disambiguation page creation

As you create each disambiguation page you need to ensure that every that links to that page has it's links updated so that it links to the new location for the page that you moved. For example, for the Orion Arch you need to change all of the pages listed here to the new page location. Thanks. -- Cedarwings (talk) 22:26, 1 May 2008 (PDT)

Bleh, completely forgot about that. I'll get to it. =) --Belthazar451 22:27, 1 May 2008 (PDT)
Be thankful that the lists aren't that long. While creating a disambiguation page may seem like a good idea some days, having to fix a hundred links may one day make you think twice about it. -- Cedarwings (talk) 22:31, 1 May 2008 (PDT)
That may be so, but sometimes it just needs to be done. --Belthazar451 22:35, 1 May 2008 (PDT)

Patience

Ahoy! Please be patient with other editors. According to the Yppedia:Editors' Code of Conduct, a general guideline would be to wait 15 minutes before you jump in to fix mistakes on the page they are working on. Even leaving them a message on their talk page with suggestions they can use to fix the page themselves is sometimes better. There is nothing more frustrating, especially for a new editor, then getting an edit conflict message on the screen. Fair winds! -- Cedarwings (talk) 12:19, 2 May 2008 (PDT)

Aye, I knew you'd be along with that message before too long. =Þ I'd thought that I had waited for fifteen minutes, but evidently I shouldn't be doing edits this late at night. --Belthazar451 12:22, 2 May 2008 (PDT)

category sorting

Ahoy! I've tweaked the category sorting for the map templates you recently updated. Take a look and you'll see that the page should be sorted based on the name after the final colon. Please feel free to add category tags to other map templates. Just be sure to sort them correctly. Thanks! --Barrister 12:34, 2 May 2008 (PDT)

The plan was that they'd be sorted by ocean, but if you think they go better sorted by name, then sure. I'm not certain whether I want to include the island map templates in with the category, though, considering there's about four hundred of them or so. My current thoughts are either adding them in sub-categories (e.g. Category:Midnight Ocean Island Maps et al), or not adding them at all. --Belthazar451 12:44, 2 May 2008 (PDT)
Sorting by ocean makes sense. Perhaps "Category:Midnight Ocean maps" which would include the ocean, the archipelagoes, and the islands. --Barrister 12:47, 2 May 2008 (PDT)
Let me add support for individual ocean categories, with them all collected under "Maps". --Fiddler 12:54, 2 May 2008 (PDT)
Okay, I'll get started on that sometime when I'm more awake then. I'm vaguely wondering, though, whether it's worth leaving the ocean maps themselves out of the sub-categories, and leaving them in the main Maps category as they are now. Or putting them in both. --Belthazar451 13:01, 2 May 2008 (PDT)
And done. Only took me a month and a bit. --Belthazar451 21:56, 6 June 2008 (PDT)

Oanacristina

Unfortunately now i can't edit Blueduck's page info, just the trinkets section. Please hep me :)

Ahoy! I've fixed the performance of your Trinkets list by putting it on a new page called Blueduck/Trinkets and embedding that in your pirate page. If you want to edit your trinkets now, you'll have to edit that separate page. As for editing the rest of your page, make sure you're clicking the Edit button right at the top of the page, not the one next to the Trinkets section header. --Belthazar451 20:30, 2 May 2008 (PDT)

Defunct flags

Ahoy there! Generally, defunct flags do *not* have a (defunct) in their flag page. This is only done if an active flag exists under the same name, for disambiguation purposes. --Thunderbird 07:47, 3 May 2008 (PDT)

Oh, okies. I hadn't realised - it doesn't seem to be covered on the naming policies page, and all I had to go by was what the search function turned up. --Belthazar451 08:32, 3 May 2008 (PDT)

Capitalization

You shouldn't be capitalizing maps in the category names. --Guppymomma 09:02, 3 May 2008 (PDT)

Oh, you are so right. *Facepalms* --Belthazar451 09:03, 3 May 2008 (PDT)

Ursa

I moved the content of the page "Ursa" to "Project 7". "Ursa" is now redirected to "Ursa Archipelago (Hunter)" and "Ursa Archipelago (Hunter)" is been edited with a link to "Project 7". The page "Project 7" will be edited soon again, as the first event is ending and other are being announced. Would you mind if I know removed the proposed deletion as all former requirement have been filled? -- Ascotte 14:42, 8 May, 2008 (GMT)

Aye, I noticed you made those changes - good job. I think it should be fine to remove the deletion template now, though make sure you indicate in the edit summary the basis on which you're removing it, or else an admin may simply replace it. --Belthazar451 06:46, 8 May 2008 (PDT)
oki, ty, will do so Ascotte 1:54, 9 May, 2008 (GMT)

Screenshots

When taking screenshots, try not to have the mouse over top of the building so that we do not see the building type oval. Thanks. -- Cedarwings (talk) 07:53, 27 May 2008 (PDT)

Sorry, explain that again? I noticed most building screenshots don't have the oval, but I have no idea how to hide it, so I uploaded it anyway, since noone else had yet. That said, not putting the mouse on the building doesn't hide the oval. --Belthazar451 07:55, 27 May 2008 (PDT)
That's true too. The easiest way to get rid of the ovals is hit the alt key twice. When the ovals aren't visible, holding the alt key down will make them all visible. -- Cedarwings (talk) 07:56, 27 May 2008 (PDT)
That doesn't seem to work either. Not double-hitting, not holding, not alt, ctrl or shift, or any combination of the three. Am I missing something? Does it need to be the full-install version? --Belthazar451 08:07, 27 May 2008 (PDT)
For me, when I first enter a scene (indoors or outdoors) all of the ovals that can be clicked on are shown. As soon as I hit the alt key they all go away. I am on a full-install. I don't see why it would be any different, but I'll give it a try without a full-install too. -- Cedarwings (talk) 08:12, 27 May 2008 (PDT)

Gem tables

Just FYI, the reason why some of those tables didn't have capital for the header is because some oceans have archipelagos where the capital has not been confirmed. --Guppymomma 20:33, 29 May 2008 (PDT)

I'm pretty sure that the island buys gems is the defining characteristic of being a capital. --Belthazar451 20:35, 29 May 2008 (PDT)

Building images

In your question to me, here, to get rid of the oval on building/duty stations try pressing the Alt key before taking your screenshot. If that doesn't work, try pressing and then releasing it. --Klostro 23:17, 29 May 2008 (PDT)

Hmm... Cedarwings suggested basically the same thing to me above, but it doesn't work for me. Maybe I'll try again once I get my new computer... --Belthazar451 23:20, 29 May 2008 (PDT)
Just curious, do you have the latest version of Java? And if so, is your Puzzle pirates Shortcut pointed to use it? --Klostro 00:38, 30 May 2008 (PDT)
I doubt it, on both counts. Mostly because I'm only using this computer temporarily, so I don't want to bother going through too much effort on it. I'm not even using the full install. --Belthazar451 09:32, 30 May 2008 (PDT)
No dice, I'm afraid. I've got things set up exactly as per the thread, and no amount of hammering or holding on the Alt key seems to make any difference. Maybe I should give up my building-screenshots career. --Belthazar451 00:55, 2 June 2008 (PDT)

Menu Table Project 7

If looked all around, but didn't really found what I needed. How can I create a decent menu for the Project 7 page? I was looking for something like Treasure_Hunters_Guild/Header Thx in advance, --Ascotte 17:10, 30 May 2008 (GMT)

The treasure hunters guild header page just uses a table with images in each cell. The wiki code used un YPPedia is basically exactly the same as the Wikipedia markup language, so looking at the Wikipedia markup help pages can help a lot here. --Belthazar451 09:32, 30 May 2008 (PDT)

Stepping on your toes...

Sorry about that, I wasn't paying attention and stepped on you a bit over Driftwood. Carry on, my apologies.-- Haywoodx(t/c) 15:33, 6 June 2008 (PDT)

Trophy tables

Whoops, sorry, didn't notice I broke them! I blame it on the screen being too wide with all the redlinks (Nice job on uploading that many already, though!), and it being way too late here. Likewise for not noticing/thinking about the incred-related gap, which I agree, does look a bit silly, but I also still think they should be with the standing ones. The only solution I can think of there atm would be to flip the table so experience comes first, but I'm not sure if that's such a good idea, either. -Birchle 08:39, 12 June 2008 (PDT)

An idea... What about putting the Incred trophies first? Then, to match the broad -> expert -> sublime trophy order and the bronze -> silver -> gold Atlantis trophy order and whatever others, we'd have increds which lead to ultimate which then (theoretically) leads to #1. However, then the big empty spot would be right under the headers, which I could see being considered worse than having it in the middle. Your thoughts? -Birchle 14:31, 13 June 2008 (PDT)
If you are looking to make a fairly large change to the trophy tables, please create a mock-up first before we alter its current appearance. Thanks. -- Cedarwings (talk) 15:06, 13 June 2008 (PDT)
I think the Increds look better in the middle than they would look at the start. Still, remember that strictly speaking, the Incred trophies aren't standing-related. Your ability to get an Incred trophy is completely independent of your actual standing (for most puzzles, at least). It looks fine as it is, I suppose. --Belthazar451 15:13, 13 June 2008 (PDT)

Sorry if this is the wrong place to do this..

Thanks for the tips, oh and regarding the bank, I was just copying what the name was in game. I guess whoever named it made a spelling mistake. -Opportunist

Renaming The Spyglass

I toyed with the name in my head for a bit, trying to find other examples of how building disambiguations were named. I failed to find an instance which matched this one, and so went with my first instinct. Building does make more sense though, as currently there are no other buildings with that name. :-) --Sagacious (talk) 20:37, 13 June 2008 (PDT)

An advice

Hi.Please tell me how to change my portrait from my pirate's page on yppedia. I have a new portrait on pp and I would also like to put it on yppedia, but i don't manage to change it with the current one that I have. How is this done?

Re:An advice

I followed your instructions and I did it!!Thank you very much!

Sectional Redirect

Ahem - User:Sagacious/Redirect. Don't forget your underscores for spaces in the section name :-) --Sagacious (talk) 08:44, 11 July 2008 (UTC)

Ye know, call me crazy, but that doesn't seem to work. Loading the page sans redirect and clicking on the link works fine, yes, but the redirect just sends me to the top of the page. --Belthazar451 13:13, 11 July 2008 (UTC)
Well damn. PuzzlePirates skin breaks them. Lame. They work fine under MonoBook! I'll find someone who I can report this bug to. --Sagacious (talk) 14:39, 11 July 2008 (UTC)
Hey, it does work. The MonoBook skin seems to load a whole lot faster, too, more than can be accounted for by not having to load the background images - I suspect there might be bigger issues in the YPP skin than simply not parsing redirects to page sections properly. Mind you, MonoBook ain't half so pretty. =) --Belthazar451 22:01, 11 July 2008 (UTC)
That's partly why I still use MonoBook. That and the header links keep breaking on the PP skin - the hover image breaks and jumps around, dodging my pointer. Annoying much. A cache reload works, but it's a pain. --Sagacious (talk) 22:07, 11 July 2008 (UTC)

Infoboxes for Rudder Lubbers and Old Spice

Please check that flags and crews were actually defunct at the end of Azure before marking them as such in their infoboxes. It's difficult to confirm, but you can turn to resources like Category:Azure_island_monuments to look for indications of flag/crews' existence at the close of Azure. --Featherfin 00:15, 31 July 2008 (UTC)

I was assuming they were simply defunct by default since the ocean isn't there any more, but I'll do it your way, then. =) --Belthazar451 04:32, 31 July 2008 (UTC)
Technically Azure still exists, the Ringers have a version of it saved somewhere. Before the Ice Ocean was created, they used to open Azure for testing new features, only it couldn't handle the weight of Midnight's population logging into it. As a solution, they created Ice and closed Azure forever. Presumably some flags/crews disbanded within the duration of Azure's existence proper, although we have no current examples of these on the YPPedia. The defunct tag should be saved to differentiate between these kinds of flags/crews and those that only ceased to be playable because the alpha and beta periods of testing ended. --Featherfin 15:41, 31 July 2008 (UTC)

Parrot Image

I uploaded a table with all the parrot colors, although poorly named, here: Image:Image-ParrotsbyPiplicusPlusSpringColors.PNG. It may save you some time or work even though the column and row headings aren't very good. --Shogib 10:04, 1 August 2008 (UTC)

That does save me a bit of time, yes, though there's still plenty of work to be done. You just did the easy part. =) --Belthazar451 13:25, 1 August 2008 (UTC)
Looks like you did all the parrot images with new colors - wow ! I just want to make sure I can strike them off from my list of missing images; am I right that there aren't any missing combinations by now ? --Alfwyn 18:17, 2 November 2008 (UTC)
Yes, so long as they haven't introduced Atlantean parrots while I wasn't watching. =) You can count the number of parrot images in the Familiar Images category quite easily, and that'll let you check that there's enough parrots. --Belthazar451 20:10, 2 November 2008 (UTC)

Ice islands

Yeah, I thought about that. But for an ocean like Ice, I consider colonization to be less about the island being controlled by a flag and more about buildings being on the island. For instance, I think it's useful to know that I can buy rum and cbs and maps at Cold Spring (or ships, for that matter), even if it's not controlled by a flag. But perhaps since that's already conveyed by the individual island articles, calling them 'colonized' is an overstep. --Yaten talk 15:32, 6 August 2008 (UTC)

Regarding the competition pages

Just a note, Ice is not usually involved in the puzzle competitions. This contest is no exception, there is no competition tab on Ice for this time around. --Thunderbird 05:36, 14 August 2008 (UTC)

Gah, my mistake - I forgot to check. It's only there because it was there on the Reindeer Games page. --Belthazar451 05:40, 14 August 2008 (UTC)

User talk pages

Just a note, users are free to remove warnings from their talk pages. If they do, we take it as an acknowledgment that they have read the warning. Since all revisions of a page (including talk pages) are stored on the server, we don't really need to worry about other users hiding warnings that have been given to them. --Thunderbird 13:49, 17 August 2008 (UTC) Also, when marking a page as a candidate for speedy deletion, it is greatly preferred to leave the original content there, so there's something to judge (and so we don't have to take a look at the previous revision to see what the content was). --Thunderbird 13:53, 17 August 2008 (UTC)

Island images

FYI, the preferred minimum size for island images is 210x210. That prevents the island template from scaling the image and looking ugly. I know that Polaris Point wasn't that size, but that was because Instantflash uploaded a smaller one back in February. That's before you were really active on the wiki. You should check out User talk:Instantflash to get a feel for how hard it was to clean up after him every time he made a mistake.  :-) --Barrister 04:46, 19 September 2008 (UTC)

Fair enough - I was wondering why some of the island images had past updates for extra padding. I'll keep that in mind. --Belthazar451 04:49, 19 September 2008 (UTC)

Capitalizeation

Ahoy there Belthazar451! Just a thought after going over some of your pages.... please do NOT forget to capitalize the "wars" section on flag infoboxes. Such as none to None. Heres one example right here. I've fixed around two or three.... if you could go over some that you made that are not capitalized that would be great. Fair winds! --Addison 03:20, 25 September 2008 (UTC)

I'm not certain capitalisation is overly vital in that sort of situation. Certainly not enough to go back over the thousand or so flag pages especially. --Belthazar451 03:39, 25 September 2008 (UTC)

Maybe you'll get 1000 more edits to your name :D. Anyways.... its shown in the little infobox. All I ask is that you capitalize from now on. I might go over some of your pages and cap them. Fair winds! --Addison 01:32, 26 September 2008 (UTC)

There's not much value in adding 1000 very minor edits to one's name. The task is the sort of thing which isn't really worth editing manually when an automated wikibot (i.e. a script) could perform it. However with the current server performance issues, including a recent problem relating to the YPPedia login process, I'd have to say that anything which uses server time would have to be examined most carefully. In this case I doubt that there's much of a payoff for expending a large amount of effort (human and/or computer). -- Faulkston 03:21, 30 September 2008 (UTC)
Or we could just keep lowercase as the standard. Since so many already have it as lowercase. --Guppymomma 03:23, 30 September 2008 (UTC)

Barbary Shoppe Names

I'm helping name majority of the shoppes on Barbary, so if I see you're unaware of the origins, and I'm the one who corrects ya, it's probably right.
-Firefly1629

Fair enough - point taken. =) --Belthazar451 07:06, 7 October 2008 (UTC)

Just a little point.

I've noticed that you have been watching the wiki and making corrections, in some cases undoing what I have done. I want to tell you that I do appreciate this. I am still somewhat new to the whole wiki thing, and corrections (when valid) are greatly appreciated. Feel free to correct me in the future. (Maybe some day I will have the honor of returning the favor! ... ... Nah, no I won't.) Jlh0605 10:02, 11 October 2008 (UTC)

Aww, 'tis nothing. Feel free to correct me if I make some error. It's good to have the wiki all nice and correct. =) --Belthazar451 10:08, 11 October 2008 (UTC)
Precisely how I feel. Jlh0605 12:15, 11 October 2008 (UTC)

Rename images

Alright... I trust you. Do you think I should rename the improperly named images of EAC to Image:Flags-EAC.jpg Image:Flags-EAC1.jpg etc... etc... cause on their page they have more then one portrait. Just go to the page and youll see :). --Addison 21:49, 12 October 2008 (UTC)

A while ago, I attempted to get the standard naming system modified to handle flag galleries, using EAC as the example. The discussion about it is here. I've given up on trying to get a response... --Belthazar451 22:16, 12 October 2008 (UTC)
Okay, I have left messages on several administrator talk pages, also you (which is like an admin in my mind!). I will seek further information on the subject. Thanks for the link! Happy editing! --Addison 22:52, 12 October 2008 (UTC)

Trophies

Main reason I removed the last trophy was the fact that no evidence was provided. Personally, I think if someone's going to take the time to add a trophy, they need to provide the evidence of existence, as it is a bit of a waste to trawl trophy pages to try and find it ;). --Thunderbird 22:37, 14 October 2008 (UTC)

You may enjoy it, but that doesn't mean I do ;). --Thunderbird 22:51, 14 October 2008 (UTC)

Ha ha! I just realized my mistake after pushing enter. Thanks for the pointer though =P. --Addison 00:37, 21 October 2008 (UTC)

Fix-up

Could you fix-up The Usual Suspects? I suspect (haha!) that something I did when I added the portrait made it go funny. --Addison 23:50, 26 October 2008 (UTC)

It's just that the portrait makes the infobox get longer, so anything wider than the remaining space gets pushed down. I just inserted a clear (Usage) template so that the heading would remain with the show/hide box. --Belthazar451 23:55, 26 October 2008 (UTC)
The other thing you can do is limit the width of the show/hide box (and the contents of the box) so that it can fit beside the infobox. -- Cedarwings (talk) 00:55, 27 October 2008 (UTC)
I thought of that, but a three-wide blockade table doesn't fit next to the infobox. --Belthazar451 01:23, 27 October 2008 (UTC)

trophy triggers

I was wondering if trophy triggers were "allowed" on the non-trophy pages. Happy to beleive that they're not. However, I did look in style guide and templates to check, first, and if there's anything there about that, I couldn't find it. So maybe something should be done about that? Also, is there any particular justification? I find them useful (which is of course why I added them). Billynoleg 02:31, 28 October 2008 (UTC)

OK so I agree totally that they're not pretty. I was trying to figure out why the trophy template didn't work on any but the trophy pages; seems like there's a way to clean them up so they're attractive, and I'm willing to work on that. Not really worked up over this, but just to play devil's advocate: sure they're not necessary, but they are helpful. To me it's nice to have them right there, rather than having to click, load, search -- just trying to save a few steps, you know. Since this isn't in the style guide (correct me if I'm wrong) should we attempt to build some consensus on this issue among the larger community and get this in the style guide for future reference? Assuming, of course, that we can make it as attractive as it needs to be? Billynoleg 14:21, 30 October 2008 (UTC)
You and Barrister are really frustrating someone who I feel could be a useful contributor. The real wikipedia is not nearly so fussy and provincial. See my comment here. Billynoleg 17:39, 25 January 2009 (UTC)

dusted template

Yes I've seen that template in use too... problem is that if you don't have a date of dusting it reads Dusted: Unknown which doesn't make much sense. I'll keep using that one if the (dusted) one is not preferred.--Cecidrake 03:32, 7 November 2008 (UTC)

Image:Longship.png

Hmm... this image doesn't exist... I am not good AT ALL at converting images to PNG's (screenshots from my acc. go automatically to JPG...) although my brother will show me. I ask that you could upload an image of it? Its missing on the dock. Also, you might consider changing Image:Ships Profile Small.png because it's missing longship. Sorry for all the work =-(. But since you're an active contributor that knows alot about uploading images and everything... I'd think you'd might like a nudge. Thanks! --Addison 03:45, 7 November 2008 (UTC)

I did the dock image, but I suspect the Ships Profile image may possibly be beyond me, but we'll see - it's basically a matter of assembling the images of the ship decks from every ship page. Since I don't have the original, and the version there has been significantly reduced in size, I'd have to start over from scratch. I can probably do it given some time. =) With taking screenshots, the default for /print is .jpg for everyone, which is why take screenshots using the Print Screen key instead - it produces an exact copy of what's on my screen (with no compression) allowing me to save it in MSPaint or GIMP to whatver format I want. --Belthazar451 04:02, 7 November 2008 (UTC)
You can just nab the longship and any of the other ships in one image. Pop them on a layer and resize it until the other ship matches the size of the one on the profiles image. Then a little deleting and rearranging should do it. --Guppymomma 04:10, 7 November 2008 (UTC)
I did it, and yes, I ended up doing it just by modifying the current image rather than starting over, and even then it wound up kind of tedious. Managed to insert the Xebec twice, so I deleted the extra one, and only noticed after I'd uploaded it that one of the Xebecs had been pasted over the top of the Merchant Galleon. Tsk. For future reference, the image is at a scale of roughly 5.5% --Belthazar451 11:32, 9 November 2008 (UTC)

Gem

Sorry, I don't know how I deleted that island from Malachite. Good catch. Jlh0605 12:35, 16 November 2008 (UTC)

I suspect you edited an old version of the page. =) --Belthazar451 12:57, 16 November 2008 (UTC)

Recent releases images

Ahoy there! I've seen all the recent releases... and all the new stuff! I was wondering if you needed any help uploading the images or anything... I haven't done nothing except for the serpent image... and I feel like I've done nothing compared to you. So I would just like to offer a hand. Also, I don't have a Print Screen key... my keyboard is really outdated... can't even do a ~ without using the signature button =-P --Addison 03:10, 21 November 2008 (UTC)

I've already uploaded all the new things I've seen so far, but if you turn up any other new things, feel free to stick them in. =) --Belthazar451 03:13, 21 November 2008 (UTC)

The activity list

On Cursed Isle Attackers Across Hunter page, is it me or there's some kind of bug? I tried adding myself under 'C' as my name starts with C. But rather showing it under 'C', it showed under 'D' instead. I have no idea how to fix this. Thought I'd leave a note here seeing you started the page.

Thanks in advance! --Yaypuzzlez 22:01, 24 November 2008 (UTC)

There was an additional character in the table causing an extra column. I removed it, added Capberry in the apropriate spot and it corrected the problem.-- Haywoodx(t/c) 22:45, 24 November 2008 (UTC)
Aye, my mistake. I was going to back and fix them, but then forgot about it. --Belthazar451 01:31, 25 November 2008 (UTC)

Trinkets

Yay! Thanks! I made it halfway there... but apparently managed to miss one of the div's and the button so it just wound up looking all screwy. Much better now. :) -Birchle 05:51, 9 January 2009 (UTC)

No problem. The button was basically optional, but the div tags are vital in order to get it working properly with the custom parameter. =) --Belthazar451 05:58, 9 January 2009 (UTC)

You Have Been Bonked!

Congrats on your brand new super-ninja-wiki-admin-powerz! Welcome to the team and congratulations. You should now see some new options on your user screen. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask. -- Muffynz(t/c) 07:38, 25 January 2009 (UTC)

Thank ye. It's all shiny now. =D Just one question at the moment: how much attention do we pay to patrolling edits? --Belthazar451 09:03, 25 January 2009 (UTC)
Pretty much zero. We thought about using them for our volunteer admin work, but it didn't really work out well. The function is mostly used with Official namespace pages as it's somehow tied in with whether or not those update. You can go into your preferences and there should now be an option to mark all your edits as patrolled, so go ahead and do that just in case we ever do anything with it. It's unlikely we will though. --Guppymomma 15:39, 25 January 2009 (UTC)

Marking pages as defunct

Ahoy! Congratulations on the administrator status! As I was going through outdated crew information, I spotted a crew with all captains and senior officers dormant, but with 2 other members active. Is it appropriate to mark it as defunct? --Addihockey (talk/contribs) 13:41, 25 January 2009 (UTC)

Thank ye. As for defunctedness, have a look at this thread. Given the lack of much response, I've just decided to use my own judgement. Essentially, the flag is defunct as a flag - with no active monarch or royals, there's no way the flag can actually function. --Belthazar451 22:22, 25 January 2009 (UTC)

Island images

Uhm, don't delete old ones. They're a visual building history. --Guppymomma 17:43, 2 February 2009 (UTC)

Oh. Some of them are, anyway. Though not a terribly thorough history, considering how intermittently they get updated. =) --Belthazar451 22:11, 2 February 2009 (UTC)
Yep, skimpy is better than nothing though since there's not really another method of fetching previous island states beyond our little pile here. The precioussssssssssss. :) --Guppymomma 22:17, 2 February 2009 (UTC)
That said, is it worth deleting ones that are the same as others? There's a few island images here and there which have images that contain the same buildings, but have some other differences, like an invisible ocean, or are slightly different sizes. --Belthazar451 22:20, 2 February 2009 (UTC)
Personally I'd put that in the category of do it if I notice it and not purposely go looking for the task. Just check carefully to make sure they really are the same. --Guppymomma 23:21, 2 February 2009 (UTC)

Lowstandrd

Thanks fer fixing me mistakes. I wasn't aware of pipes and hopefully will do better in editing in the future. This was my first foray into wiki editing. Much obliged Belthazar451.

Belthazar, is there a way to add a furniture box under my pet to show off the OM egg I just won? If not, how else might it be displayed (just need a pirate page with the coding done :D ) Thanks Lowstandrd 20:52, 14 February 2009 (UTC)
There's no template for displaying furniture, unfortunately. You'll just need to use the image itself - you can find the name of the image by going to the eggs page and clicking on the image of the relevant egg. Then link that image to your page - you can make it look pretty with a table, or even use a gallery if you like. --Belthazar451 21:12, 14 February 2009 (UTC)
I copied and pasted the show/hide my trinket text off the how to page and now the wiki search bar running down the left is all messed up >.>. Can you help me figure out what happened?Lowstandrd 11:16, 16 February 2009 (UTC)
All fixed. You had a table you'd opened but not closed - that's generally the problem when you get weird sidebar behaviour. I did away with the tables by using the My trinket template's width parameter. --Belthazar451 11:34, 16 February 2009 (UTC)
Ahoy mate, I've changed up my page to add boxes for my event awards that are not trinkets. One of which is a cat. Should I take it off my pirate info box if I have it listed as an award? I know it is preferred to not have redundant items on the page. Also, I have no idea where to look, but would like to place those individual event award boxes next to each other (still being separate boxes). And, while I'm at it asking questions, the magic number seems to be 12, so if I get 12 non-trink awards..is that the turning point fer the "hide/show"? Could I set that up before 12 (my three boxes do take up quite a bit of space)? Thanks fer you always awesome help. Lowstandrd 03:57, 25 March 2009 (UTC)

Ugly :(. Any suggestions mate? I'm sorry about the code, I just try to make things work. I'm basically code illiterate. Lowstandrd 01:46, 14 April 2009 (UTC)

That's just my opinion - so long as you like it, I guess it's fine. =) I would, however, suggest putting things into the same table. It's your endless series of nested tables which makes the code hard to read. --Belthazar451 01:49, 14 April 2009 (UTC)
I just don't know how to re-write it :/ . Also, why are the titles not centered when the lowstandrd/Event Awards displays on my page?
You know mate, I really appreciate all the help you have provided me with my page in the past, but I have to say the ugly comment was particularly out of line. I take it a bit personally because I do the editing on my page. I have a personal interest in my pirate page, hence personal pirate page. I come from a background of Zero editing or coding experience. Yes, I'm sure the code could look better, but unless you want to change it for me,to help me, or teach me to change it.. there's not a whole lot I can do right now. I'm learning as I go, but I'm sure that is too slow for you. It took me forever and a day to set up that nested table business in the first place. I get most of what I have by copying and making things work. I'm not really sure where an editor has the right to make an aesthetic judgment on a personal pirate page. I was under the belief the space was mine to crate under the personal pirate page guidelines. Heck I was trying to limit the length using the show hide for my event awards anyhoo. I like them in separate boxes because they are separate event awards. Fairwinds to ye. Lowstandrd 02:09, 14 April 2009 (UTC)
Sorry, it wasn't mean to be a judgement but an opinion. As I said, if you like it, then go with it. Yes, I could re-work it so that I like how it looked, but if you didn't like how it looked, then what would be the point? =) --Belthazar451 02:13, 14 April 2009 (UTC)

Okay, so it's been awhile. Thanks for fixing my page. Glad to know you're still here keeping watch. Some things in life are comforting. LowstandrdLowstandrd 11:20, 21 March 2013 (PDT)

Belthazar451, I moved the Impulse crew page to Impulse(defunct) as there is an active Impulse crew on Emerald now. I wanted to use the hat note format "for...see..." at the top as opposed to a disambiguation page since there are only two articles, but the code wasn't working for me. Also, I do not know what to do about renaming the crew photo so that each page will link to their photo and the defunct crew's will not be lost, so I haven't touched it yet. Thanks for all your help as usual. Lowstandrd 02:12, 22 April 2013 (PDT)

All done. Strictly speaking, though, since the original Impulse was on the Hunter Ocean, and yours is on Emerald, you could have left the old one where it was, and named your page "Impulse (Emerald)". Would have been less work. =P --Belthazar451 03:23, 22 April 2013 (PDT)

Nordenx Easter Eggs 2009

I notice there is a note about his eggs being the wrong size. Do they need to be rerendered and uploaded? --Fizz 08:23, 22 February 2009 (UTC)

Not sure what happened with them. They were originally uploaded as 50x50 images rather then the 35x42 that all the other eggs are. Maybe re-rendering will fix that? -- Cedarwings (talk) 08:44, 22 February 2009 (UTC)
The eggs themselves were the right size, but were uploaded with extra padding to make a 50x50 image. I just used GIMP's auto-crop to chop off the padding. If they look too small, you may have to refresh the page. I suspect it came out as 34x39 rather than 35x42 because all the other eggs still have a pixel or two of extra space around the edges - I pondered re-adding the space to Nordenx's eggs, but decided that three pixels wasn't enough to notice. Clearly Cedarwings noticed it. --Belthazar451 11:01, 22 February 2009 (UTC)

User page

I have reverted the changes you made to the page User:Yohomiedogg as even if the pirate no longer exists, it is still an user page and as such that user deserves for that page to exist as they would like. It is not in violation of any of the policies. -- Cedarwings (talk) 21:29, 10 March 2009 (UTC)

See that's the thing, it's not a user page. There's no user named "Yohomiedogg" - it's just a pirate article that someone's plonked in the user namespace. It should at the very least be moved to the main namespace, or into the space of the user that created the page. --Belthazar451 21:51, 10 March 2009 (UTC)
Ugg. I checked everything else on the history page. My mistake. That's simple then, since the user that did create it has already got the same info on his own user page. Consider it nuked then. Sorry. -- Cedarwings (talk) 23:31, 10 March 2009 (UTC)

2 The Synicades

Ahoy, i have found that there are 2 The Synicade pages on the viridian ocean and i made them the first is The Synicade and the second is The Synicade (flag) i made it this way because i did not know how to make a disambig page can you help me out so if users are looking for the flag they can find it without searching all over gods green earth. ~Fair winds, V1nc3 ~ 04:41, 17 March 2009 (UTC)

Information removed from a flag page

Ahoy there! I have just noticed that one month ago you have edited our flag page, removing some information as well as a picture. I would like to know if the previous version was violating somehow YPPedia's policies and guidelines, so that I won't make the same mistake again. Thanks. --Pishkirlin 06:15, 21 March 2009 (UTC)

I removed the plain-text listing of your monarch and royals, since they're already listed on the flag info page, just one click away. We don't give the full plain listing, since it tends to vary quite a bit over time in some flags, and so would require constant updating. As for the image, I just moved it so the page would look a bit prettier. =) --Belthazar451 07:23, 21 March 2009 (UTC)
Ok, thanks.--Pishkirlin 09:56, 21 March 2009 (UTC)

Thank you

I noticed that you've been updating information about my flag, Crimson - I'd like to thank you for that, as I don't have time myself to stop by to edit things that often. Great work. :)

Thanks

Page protection

In future, the easiest thing to do when protecting Official pages is to enable the Cascading protection option as this will prevent the need to protect every image as well. -- Cedarwings (talk) 02:49, 8 April 2009 (UTC)

Blades of Glory

Thanks for cleaning up after me, wasn't sure what proper procedure was for dusted buildings. Especially since even though 4-5 buildings have already dusted on Caravanserai, none are listed. <3 --Burninat0r 13:47, 20 April 2009 (UTC)

Basically, if a dusted building has an article, it's good to still list it, so the article doesn't turn into an orphan. If there's no article, it's not really worth it, so you can just delete the listing. --Belthazar451 14:21, 20 April 2009 (UTC)
Ahh, see I marked it for deletion first. ;) --Burninat0r 22:24, 20 April 2009 (UTC)

Building Images

Hi,

I spotted a few images that need looking at, I wasnt sure if there was a tag or anything so I started to note them down here and here. --Lcawte 14:20, 16 May 2009 (UTC)

Aye, I just spotted that. Already fixed one for you. Mind you, it's possible for you to fix them yourself, but I understand if you don't want to, as it can get a bit tedous, and some of them are hard to get to. --Belthazar451 14:21, 16 May 2009 (UTC)
Well, the User:Lcawte/Pages with Multiple uploaded images is an admin only thing.. and this one, Image:Building-Midnight-Ferocious_Temper.png I dont think you fixed its blured and if you highlight it with a mouse you can see lots of white around the edges... --Lcawte 14:24, 16 May 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, I re-uploaded a new version - you'll have to press "refresh" to see it properly, since the old one is cached in the server. --Belthazar451 14:30, 16 May 2009 (UTC)
Kl, got it, finally. Is there a page about Ice with all the buildings that need doing? I can make the list but I cant promise much about if the page is done or not.. --Lcawte 14:34, 16 May 2009 (UTC)
Nah, noone's ever made a list for Ice yet. And it's fine if all you can do is make a list - it's a start, and someone else can continue it if need be. --Belthazar451 14:37, 16 May 2009 (UTC)
Ok, I know I started on Ice but hav'nt done any for a while, I guess it will be under my user page? --Lcawte 14:40, 16 May 2009 (UTC)
Yep. That's probably the best place for it. --Belthazar451 14:49, 16 May 2009 (UTC)

Thanks

You learn something every day. Not only do I not have to "pipe" for plurals, I learnt what "piping" is! Cheers :) --Lizzie 23:46, 21 May 2009 (UTC)

No problem. But yes, the | is called the pipe symbol. And any letters that come immediately after a link will be included in the link's displayed text, not just plurals. So, for example, bankrobber would link to bank, but appear as bankrobber. Note that punctuation doesn't get included, so bank's displays as bank's. --Belthazar451 23:53, 21 May 2009 (UTC)

CI Trinket Images

I understand that but there are a ton to upload and we can always add to the images we already have. Loading them up incomplete typically spurs on additional activity to track down the other images. <shrugs> We've never waited to have complete images before and I see no real reason to do so now when we have many more than past releases.--Kgarrett1969 14:22, 29 May 2009 (UTC)

In relation to this, could you check the template for the cultist chow and tell me what I messed up. The colorize trinket seems to be working as seen on the cultist chow page but the my trinkets part seems messed up as seen on the template itself.--Shogia 20:21, 30 May 2009 (CDT)

Thanx!

Hi hi! Thanx for fixing my trinket =D. Adrielle =) 08:55, 13 June 2009 (UTC)

Infobox pirate and capitalization control

According to a discussion at User:Amoyer/Templates/Capitalization/Infobox pirate, all piratenames should have had their first letter capitalized, but the lowercase before that dropped. For some reason that change was never actually implemented. Is there something you can think of that would break by surrounding piratenames by a  ? --Alfwyn 16:00, 4 July 2009 (UTC)

Vargas the Mad. Brynhild Skullsplitter. Barnabas the Pale. The Widow Queen. Et cetera. The original idea seems to have bean to leave pirate2 unmodified so that the German names were left unaffected, but that doesn't seem to have turned out in practice. In addition, now we have Spanish. And what happens when we add French, say? Far better, I think, to manually correct the few pirates who try to be difficult about things than to break the ones that SHOULD have a capital in the middle. --Belthazar451 00:03, 5 July 2009 (UTC)
Could always add a BK parameter to the template that would bypass the capitalization control, along the lines of what we did for the ultlist template. Thoughts on that? I really like the capitalization control. -- Cedarwings (talk) 01:55, 5 July 2009 (UTC)
Well, the idea was to use in all cases (instead of ). That just capitalizes the first letter and leaves the rest alone. This catches the most common mistake without breaking anything I know. --Alfwyn 13:37, 5 July 2009 (UTC)
By making a little modification to User:Amoyer/Templates/Capitalization/Infobox pirate to now include a BK parameter, you can see the results here. If a BK=yes parameter is added, then the piratename will appear as typed. We can apply this change to the piratename, pirate2 and pirate3 or for that matter all instances where the name appears to solve this problem. I would really prefer to see capitalization control back in place. I still find numerous instances where people aren't capitalizing ocean names, pet items (types, colors) and pirate names correctly. -- Cedarwings (talk) 15:44, 5 July 2009 (UTC)
You're really getting the hang of this #ifeq thing, aren't you? =) But yeah, I agree that it works like that. If I can make one sort-of-related suggestion, though, it might be an idea to capitalise the sample code as things should be capitalised. So for example, instead of reading |piratename=piratename, it should read |piratename=Piratename. --Belthazar451 23:04, 5 July 2009 (UTC)

(undent) I just found this conversation after seeing the change to infobox pirate and looking back at Amoyer's recent contributions. In the future, I'd suggest having conversations affecting widely-used templates in a place a little more likely to be seen than an individual's talk page. For instance, Template_talk:Infobox_pirate is on my watchlist whereas User talk:Belthazar451 isn't. --Fiddler 01:10, 6 July 2009 (UTC)

Fair enough. Maybe a simple copy to Template_talk:Infobox_pirate of the above will leave some history regarding the changes there. BTW, nice catch Belthazar. -- Cedarwings (talk) 01:13, 6 July 2009 (UTC)
Thanks. I went to actually test out the BK parameter and discovered that when I set it to no on Barnabas' page, all of his names changed to lower-case English. =) --Belthazar451 01:25, 6 July 2009 (UTC)

Image problems

Is it just me, or is this image messed up. I'm quite unsure as this has happened before on my Mac. I haven't uploaded a "normal" image yet.

Well, it looks messed up to me. I'll try reuploading it and see if it gets better or if it is a wiki problem. --Alfwyn 15:03, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
Your re-upload seems fine to me, but it's going to be a drag for me not being able to upload the images... and holy am I getting up way to early... I forgot to sign my comment :P --Addihockey (talk/contribs) 15:08, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
I took a closer look at the broken image (strings -a), it too has the lines "Proxy-Connection: keep-alive" and "Cache-Control: max-age=0" strewn in. --Alfwyn 16:05, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
I've seen a lot of Addi's edits having that in them too. Something weird with a proxy server?
The original image displays fine for me, but it's kind of... out of alignment. Like the horizontal hold needs adjusting. --Belthazar451 21:17, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
Is there any way I can fix this? I cannot access the PC most times and it would be inconvenient for someone to have to re-edit my messed up edits. --Addihockey (talk/contribs) 00:26, 27 August 2009 (UTC)
I have no idea. I don't even know what's causing it - this is a completely new one on me. Google searches don't turn up anything either, but I'm pretty sure I'm not using the right search terms. --Belthazar451 00:51, 27 August 2009 (UTC)
I occasionally edit Wikipedia, and I have been having the same problem. I'll go and check Google as well and see if I unearth something... Thanks to everyone who's helping :) I really appreciate it! --Addihockey (talk/contribs) 00:52, 27 August 2009 (UTC)
And you did it again. Editing the mess out. --Burni (talk) 00:56, 27 August 2009 (UTC)
You see why this needs to be fixed :/ Here's something that might help: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Village_pump_%28technical%29/Archive_57#.22Proxy-Connection:keep-alive_--_Cache-Control:_max-age.3D0.22 - I don't really understand the technical stuff... so if someone could help me understand it that would be great. --Addihockey (talk/contribs) 00:59, 27 August 2009 (UTC)
All I can establish from wikipedia is that it's a problem caused by using Firefox on the Mac - no proposed solutions, but a lot of people getting grumpy by assuming it's deliberate vandalism. It's pretty clear to me it's not deliberate (so no getting grumpy, Burny) but even with Google I can't find any solutions. Try doing a scan on your computer for viruses, trojans, adware and assorted other scumware - SpyBot S&D is good for the last two - and if that doesn't work, badger Mozilla. Maybe even change to Opera or (gasp!) IE. --Belthazar451 01:27, 27 August 2009 (UTC)

Blockades on Island Pages

Hey, so I was looking for a template I could put on island pages to make a pretty table for blockades, similar to what is used on the flag pages. I could only find one for flag pages. Is there one for Island pages? If not, can I write one? :P Thanks.--Jelvik 12:37, 1 September 2009 (UTC)

There is not one currently. I was noticing that a few minutes ago as well. Do we really need one? --Burni (talk) 13:45, 1 September 2009 (UTC)
I talked this over with Jelvik in-game. Currently the island articles are the only places where blockades are actually described in any sort of detail, rather than simply presented in a cold dry table. Granted, most people (and especially flag monarchs and/or island governors) aren't doing any describing of blockades, but I am of the strong opinion that we do not want a table. I mean, it's meant to be the history of the island, not a summary. --Belthazar451 21:14, 1 September 2009 (UTC)

Explorers' Halls on Island Pages

I put the halls under the heading Attraction, in anticipation of more to come (see Barbary Island for example). What do you think of that ? --Alfwyn 15:56, 20 November 2009 (UTC)

Are we really anticipating more to come? I don't really get that impression from the explorers' hall announcement thread in the forums. --Belthazar451 21:38, 20 November 2009 (UTC)
Hm, Official:Attractions sure reads like there is more to come. Of course we could always move the explorers' halls to attraction, once there are more. I just feel it wouldn't be good to have the attractions under several different headings, all containing just a single building. --Alfwyn 14:55, 21 November 2009 (UTC)
Aha, forgot about that. Guess it does make more sense, then. =) --Belthazar451 22:50, 21 November 2009 (UTC)

Sandbox

Maybe you should move your trinket comparison to your own userspace. It is currently a little overwhelming and we are constantly telling new users to use that page for trying things out and editing experiments. Your trinket comparison has been there for 3 days. Besides, if you want to always see it but not put it in your userspace, you can modify your link in your forum post to the Sandbox revision that has what you want to show and then restore the Sandbox to the base page it should be. -- Cedarwings (talk) 03:21, 17 December 2009 (UTC)

Yeah, maybe. Just too lazy. =P Mind you, last time I stuck them there, it stayed for a month and a half before someone realised it. I'd completely forgotten by that point. =) Mind you, I'm happy for people to use the sandbox for sandboxing in place of my own sandcastle, but clearing just for the sake of clearing... --Belthazar451 03:38, 17 December 2009 (UTC)

Evil Weevil

I am so so so incredibly sorry - I accidentally killed the lavender evil weevil picture... one moment it was there, the next it was not :S I think I forgot to refresh the image again after I clicked to make it full size. I am stalking someone in game to get another screenie of it. Adrielle ♥ =) 10:55, 18 December 2009 (UTC)

I have devised a system now - so this will never happen again =D Adrielle ♥ =) 10:58, 18 December 2009 (UTC)
No biggie. Welcome to the restore function, one of the more well-hidden of the admin powers. I'll explain it in detail to you in game sometime, but it basically involves pushing "delete" then pushing "restore" instead of "confirm". In any case, I've gotten into the habit of pushing refresh a few times to be certain I'm getting the latest file. =) --Belthazar451 11:05, 18 December 2009 (UTC)
Lol thanx!!! I was freaking out (as I do) lol Adrielle ♥ =) 11:11, 18 December 2009 (UTC)
P.S - In a completely unrelated and possibly irrelevant kinda question, do you know if/how I can make my signature go hot pink? hehe Adrielle ♥ =) 11:11, 18 December 2009 (UTC)
Sorry to jump in here but I think this is what you need: Adrielle ♥ =) Which is ="<span style="color:hotpink;">Adrielle ♥ =)</span>" Though i'm not sure if there is a policy about colours in signatures... --Lcawte 14:26, 18 December 2009 (UTC)
I tried that, but it didn't seem to work, lol. Adrielle ♥ =) 22:00, 18 December 2009 (UTC)

Ship

Whoops! I read the diffs backward. Thanks for catching it. --Barrister 01:19, 20 December 2009 (UTC)

Yah, I've managed to do that in the past. =Þ On closer inspection, though, he didn't de-link all of them... --Belthazar451 01:37, 20 December 2009 (UTC)

Top hat

Thank you for uploading the top hat using my new naming scheme! That was very thoughtful. I'm getting close to sending out a proposal for new clothing pages using that and some templates. --Barrister 04:00, 22 December 2009 (UTC)

I realised that the clothing items weren't being used in templates anywhere else, and thus didn't really have a naming scheme, so I might as well insert them in the spaces in your sandbox. On a side note, though: point, point. =Þ --Belthazar451 04:10, 22 December 2009 (UTC)

Clothing

Thanks for re-adding the captain's hats and the turban. I've tweaked the doubloon costs after verifying the values. --Barrister 04:05, 27 December 2009 (UTC)

Yah, I hadn't realised it came up with black as the secondary colour, which is why I was getting the wrong costs. Whoops. On a different note (and regarding a question you asked a while ago), I'm quite certain black vampire raiment was sold as a separate item in the palace shoppe. I've definately got records showing me adding it as a separate item, and that's how they've usually done things (see also the red and non-red santa hats). --Belthazar451 04:08, 27 December 2009 (UTC)
I know the black vampire raiment was sold separately. What I don't remember is what is called once it was in a pirate's booty. Because if it was just "vampire raiment", then it doesn't really deserve two entries on the clothing (torso) page. I consolidated the various Santa hats because they had the same names but different prices. Wish I had a better memory.  :-) --Barrister 04:34, 27 December 2009 (UTC)
Or had thought to save a screenshot. =) Though speaking of memory, I still haven't finished doing the 2009 Halloween events page... guess I was hoping someone else'd come and do it. =Þ --Belthazar451 04:38, 27 December 2009 (UTC)

Thank you!

Hi hi! Thanx so much for fixing my trinkets!!! =D (and welcome back!) Adrielle ♥ =) 10:40, 17 January 2010 (UTC)

It's a weird effect for the colorize trinket/pet templates where the center part of the image doesn't respond to alignment tags, meaning if a center tag is used and the cell is wider than 43 pixels, the frame moves without the trinket image. I've been trying to figure out why (and how to fix it), but I just don't understand the template well enough. --Belthazar451 11:09, 17 January 2010 (UTC)
This problem doesn't manifest itself with IE6 by the way. There the older versions of the page look fine too. --Alfwyn 14:05, 17 January 2010 (UTC)
I guess I figured out the problem. The trinket image has a <div> specifying the postioning, the unequip box doesn't. Depending on browser the unequip box inherits the positioning specification of enclosing tags. I think I fixed that at User:Alfwyn/Sandbox/Colorize trinket‎, example usage can be found at my Sandbox. --Alfwyn 16:25, 18 January 2010 (UTC)

Doh! Thanks!

Heh, sorry about the mixup with the flag/crew thing. Thanks for fixing it :).

Question! (Yep, I think I messed something up... lol)

Hi hi, lovely Belthazar! (Now that you're in a good mood, I will ask =D lol!) Someone uploaded a screenshot over the top of "Image:Portrait_CropOverlay_1pirate.png". I kinda clicked revert to get it back to what it is meant to be, and deleted the screenie version. I was wondering, is there a way to get rid of my accidental revert, or should I just delete the earlier version (the one it is reverted to)? I so should log off before 10pm... lol! Thanx! --Adrielle ♥ =) 13:10, 25 April 2010 (UTC)

When was I in a bad mood? And no, there's no way to delete the reversion - that's the current version now. --Belthazar451 14:00, 25 April 2010 (UTC)
You weren't! But getting called lovely has to make you in an even better mood than you were in before you were called lovely, doesn't it? =D And thanx! =D lol --Adrielle ♥ =) 03:59, 26 April 2010 (UTC)

Another Question! =D

Hi hi! I have a question. Why does the side menu/navigation thingy on this page get shoved down past the bottom of the page? I had a look/fiddle and couldn't figure out how to fix it! --Adrielle ♥ =) 12:31, 23 May 2010 (UTC)

I can't really reproduce your problem, but the page is a big mess. Tables aren't closed, have no single row definded and so on. The effect is, that every browser might try to fix this in a slightly different fashion (e.g. nesting the tables or displaying them one after the other). I tried to clean it up a bit here, does it look better? The page has still problems like overlapping boxes and so on, that could perhaps be fixed by dillegently looking at the nesting structure of all the tags. I would recommend removing all the unnecessary markup (the tables for example aren't really needed) so the structure of the code is easier to grasp and debug. --Alfwyn 12:54, 23 May 2010 (UTC)
At least it works now! Yay! Thanx!!! =D He is very grateful =D =D =D --Adrielle ♥ =) 13:07, 23 May 2010 (UTC)
For future reference, sidebar-shoving is one of the immediately recognisable symptoms of unclosed tables. The reason for this is that the sidebar is loaded last - if there's a table unclosed, the wiki software tries to put the sidebar inside the table. --Belthazar451 22:43, 23 May 2010 (UTC)
Cool, thanx! =D --Adrielle ♥ =) 09:06, 24 May 2010 (UTC)

deleting pirates

I understand your point, but by the same token, the page is about me, I created the page, and I provided the content. I don't wan it there anymore, and I don't see why it should remain otherwise. I'm the one who should really be concerned over its existence. Please delete? I have a copy of it saved on my hard drive just in case, which is highly unlikely. I'll be happy to go through the linked pages to remove the links but really, I think the choice should be mine, copyright nonwithstanding, and I don't think it unreasonable for OOO to honor my wishes. I have my reasons. Thanks. Sashamorning 22:49, 1 June 2010 (UTC)

Please see my comments on my user talk page regarding the specifics of the CC 2.5 license. Thanks. Sashamorning 04:54, 2 June 2010 (UTC)

Ship Images Question

I saw that the page had not yet been created so I took it upon my self to create the page for the Inferno class sloop. While editing I only found two problems. The only one that I cant complete myself is the deck images, considering I have no idea how to create the images without my pirate in them. I would greatly appreciate this help. --scurvyskull9 11:14, 1 June 2010

Foraging edits

A toyed over whether to write the units as words or numbers, as I know words are technically more correct, and my original edit did have them as words too - but I didn't feel it was clear enough. I was super tired when I wrote it though. Also - I realised after foraging some more after my edits that it wasn't always three moves - which confused me as I've always thought it was three but never counted, and I counted a few times while editing and it was three each time. Overall I think the minor additions I made are useful, although I was very tempted at times to scrap the edits altogether as I couldn't word them how I wanted =) --Sagacious (talk) 14:07, 29 June 2010 (UTC)

In Regards to the article arrBay

Sorry about the Template, I wasn't aware that it changed the name of the article. I just saw that when the option was the same name of the article, then it wouldn't show. I figured it was a bug in the template. Ha. Anyways, I have a bad habit of doing formatting changes, I'm a Wikipedia Nerd... o.o "must resist editing...ARGH!!" Anyway, you can see my page there at, wikipedia:User:Dillard421. Thanks! Dillard421 15:18, 20 July 2010 (UTC)

Autumn pup

Thanks for the friendly correction regarding the autumn pup. I appreciate it. Chupchup 23:44, 8 November 2010 (UTC)

No problem. I pondered whether it'd be worth actually making a special template for the autumn pup. It'd be pretty simple, as the text would just have to be small dog. The issue here is that with all the different limited edition pets - some with their own range of colours - the number of templates starts to get a bit unwieldy. It's easier for editors to just recognise that "autumn pup" means a persimmon/white small dog, "stout hound" means tawny/black dog, et cetera. --Belthazar451 01:52, 9 November 2010 (UTC)

RfC opened at YPPedia talk:Policies and guidelines

Hello, I got your name from a prior RfC where you commented, and thought you would be interested in this one. It's a relatively minor point, whether to restrict standard-named vessels from crew and flag articles like personal pirate pages. Chippycookie

I had a talk in-game with Shooshy prior to these edits. She is angry with Vorky (Vortar) for giving himself credit on one newly-uploaded trophy. She thought that the initial winner of a trophy had a right to credit with the tag. I told her it is just for verification that the trophy exists, and that nobody has a "right" to it. But it looks like she insisted on disruptive editing anyway. Oh well. Chupchup 16:49, 24 December 2011 (PST)

Yah, thought it might have been something like that. While Shooshy did post it to the forums first, there's no proof (or disproof) that she did win it first. Ordinarily I'd go with that if I were uploading them, but Vorky did put the actual effort into adding them to the wiki, and it's entirely possible that he won it before Shooshy posted anyway. --Belthazar451 18:02, 24 December 2011 (PST)

Full Steam Ahead trophy

I hate to point this out, but I'm pretty sure the trophy trigger is based on whether the player is running the Steam client. --Thunderbird 03:08, 29 December 2011 (PST)

Nah, I tried myself with the Steam client using my original pirate, but never got the trophy. Joined a pillage the other day with pirates created using Steam, and won it after the first battle. Dunno if there's something else I was missing in my first test, but I doubt it. It'd be great if you could do a test to verify, though. =) --Belthazar451 04:30, 29 December 2011 (PST)

Default sort

Ooh, thanks for the "DEFAULTSORT" keyword. I'll make sure to use that when updating the other islands which need it. --Barrister 20:48, 1 January 2012 (PST)

No problem. Didn't realise we hadn't already run through and tweaked everywhere that needed it, though I guess in hindsight we've probably only applied it to crews and flags. --Belthazar451 22:08, 1 January 2012 (PST)

Disambig

Well, I'm creating them with the anticipation that they will be needed, so long as we're not deleting the old pages. I imagine we'll set the normal page as a redirect, ala all the midnight pages (and really, surprised that it was never done actually). --Fannon 22:39, 1 January 2012 (PST)

Yeah, the Cobalt/Virid islands were special because there were two of every island that were active, so that page became the disambig page itself. But once there is only ONE active page, that's when a redirect makes more sense than a disambig, but then you'll want an actual disambig page that you can send people to so they can see what other options there are. I know we don't want to do the redirects just yet, but since we'll need the disambigs, I'm trying to get them all set up. --Fannon 23:00, 1 January 2012 (PST)

Templates are Gross

In other news, I played with the activity list/ "hunters across" template thingie. User:Fannon/Sandbox It doesn't look that slick to me. I almost think it'd look better if we could switch it to rows instead of columns, but when I try there are way too many in a row and it doesn't fit on the page. I also don't really know what I'm doing so it's not surprising. :P Not sure if there's anything that can be done to make it look better. My main thought is that it just seems to take up too much room. --Fannon 11:45, 2 January 2012 (PST)

Islands

I've been updated the building lists as I've been working through overhauling each island page. So all but the last 3-4 islands in Midnight are complete up-to-date. I'll point out again, here, that getting this done before the merge isn't that necessary, which is a realization I had to slowly come to myself after reaching a near state of panic. :P The island will still be the same after the merge, the key is just remembering to update BOTH pages (current island page AND new island page). Though after I finish the last few Midnight ones (for completeness), I'm going to just do the formatting/building list updates for the other oceans and leave the history updates for later on. The other oceans have WAY more blockades to keep track of so it'd be considerably more time consuming to update the history sections as well.

And, regarding gamma levels, err, what? I have a mac, so not sure if that's causing the differences in colors or not. The only real color difference I've been seeing is in the ocean color. --Fannon 12:44, 26 January 2012 (PST)

A fun question for you! =D

Hi, lovely Belthazar! How do I make Template:Oceans-13, Template:Oceans-12, and Template:Oceans-11 work like Template:Oceans-10, Template:Oceans-9 etc. do? --Adrielle ♥ =) 13:29, 31 January 2012 (PST)

What was wrong with what you did just then? Also, do we really need to? --Belthazar451 13:46, 31 January 2012 (PST)
It didn't seem to do anything... The Crimson and Azure pirate categories stayed after those oceans closed, so I assumed the others would too - but maybe we don't need to? I'm confused - I'm not gonna touch anything I don't fully know how to touch for a bit lol! --Adrielle ♥ =) 14:05, 31 January 2012 (PST)
All done. It takes some time for template changes to feed through the wiki sometimes, especially if it's used on a lot of pages. I did a purge to speed things along. --Belthazar451 14:13, 31 January 2012 (PST)

Navigation menu is missing stuff

Since the outage last night, my "Navigation" menu on the left-hand side is missing YPPedia-specific stuff. Stuff I remember used to be there and is not: YPPedia Policies & Guidelines; Style Guide. Stuff that is still there: Main page, Community portal, Current events, Recent changes, Random page, Help. Chupchup 15:14, 6 March 2012 (PST)

There seem to be quite a few bugs... Using the monobook skin resolves the missing navigational stuff. However, the current event pages are telling me that they contain no text, when they are showing (with text) on the main page. I'm going to wander off for a bit and see if the problems have resolved themselves later on. (Since it only just came back after another outage, I am assuming our poor old wiki is having some problems <.< *pats it gently*) --Adrielle ♥ =) 15:37, 6 March 2012 (PST)
Oh, I see what's wrong now. The navigation links have been updated to point to the Yppedia namespace (while the actual event pages included on the mainpage are not actually in that namespace). Someone is working behind the scenes, maybe =D --Adrielle ♥ =) 15:45, 6 March 2012 (PST)

Meridian blockade history

Ahoy! I posted some questions about how we track blockade history. Since you're the one who's made most of the updates on this recently, I thought you'd be the best person to ask. Recently, my flag had several BK blockades, of which they actively participated in just one (maybe two); most of them, however, were just passive ways of relinquishing the islands in question (i.e. no efforts made whatsoever to participate in the respective blockades). For those blockades in question, I was going to annotate this lack of participation; but I wanted to check with you first, to see if you already had this on your list of updates (don't want to step on your toes, as it were). Thanks! -- Franklincain (t/c) 06:10, 26 June 2013 (PDT)

I just read the results off the noticeboard after the event, so I don't know any of the facts that usually go into the notes, like deliberate non-participation, or one participant dropping out in the middle, or some flag defending on behalf of another, or war being declared right in the middle, so anything you could add would be helpful. --Belthazar451 14:21, 26 June 2013 (PDT)

cupcake colorization -- ice blue only

Ahoy! While looking at the code for "Cupcake", I noticed that this template can produce only the "Ice" cupcakes; it can not produce the "Spring green" ones. Don't know if this problem is within the code for that specific template or if it's within the "colorize" template instead. Could you assist, please? Thanks! -- Franklincain (t/c) 19:10, 30 June 2013 (PDT)

OK, I think I understand the reason now -- it's because we've got just one row (i.e. just the "Ice" cupcakes) in this image file, right? Thanks... -- Franklincain (t/c) 19:16, 30 June 2013 (PDT)

Hey Belthazar, I was told you were the one to talk to about helping me update http://yppedia.puzzlepirates.com/Serpent there is a color that is not listed there, Banana/Orange (only obtainable from a Banana Box during a specific Mystery Box time period) I have screenshots of it in a wardrobe, and in my inventory, just need help figuring out how to edit the page to include it, you can contact me through the game on Brianjd or somehow through YPPedia, I'll find the message ^_^

-Brianjd Emerald Ocean P.S. you can send me a PM on forums I think that would be the best way for us to get in contact ^_^

we actually *DID* need those two sub-templates

as explained in my reply here. wish you'd waited for me to respond before deleting them. will you add them back in, or do you want me to do so? in either case, we can add in the additional info as to why these two templates are actually needed, if you like... -- Franklincain (t/c) 14:16, 3 April 2014 (PDT)

(addendum): alternately, we could create a sub-template for the value "unknown", instead. this way, it would be more obvious what it means. I've already updated the furniture item entries I'd created earlier today, to use this value instead. -- Franklincain (t/c) 14:21, 3 April 2014 (PDT)

Full protection of popular templates?

With reference to this discussion at User talk:Jrwoodchuck and edits like this, what do you think of full-protecting some more templates that are used on hundreds or thousands of articles? Chupchup 11:57, 16 April 2014 (PDT)

Possibly. The ones that are accidentally getting edited all the time tend to get locked, but for the most part, it's generally easier to just let them be... --Belthazar451 05:25, 17 April 2014 (PDT)

Game Resources

Are we allowed to explore the game's source, such as images; components; etc..., to add files to the yppedia? I mean, if at the Portrait facial expression page, we're missing some images, would it be alright if I went into the game's source and extracted them? They're not spoilers, anyway. --Prory 19:00, 3 May 2014 (PDT) (Whoops, not used to the signature yet)

No, that's not permitted, I'nm afraid. Even for the wiki. --Belthazar451 00:02, 4 May 2014 (PDT)
