Before {{release|2004-12-11}}, blockades ran a maximum of 12 rounds. A contender needed 7 rounds to win the island. Once it became mathematically impossible for any contender to win, the blockade ended. For example, if the defender won 6 rounds, the blockade was over.

Starting {{release|2004-12-11}}, blockades run for a maximum of 5 rounds. A contender needs 3 rounds to win the island.
